The maid in this movie (Margaret Hamilton) was the wicked witch in "Wizard of Oz". I recently saw her in "Texas, Brooklyn and Heaven" Where she plays one of the three sisters. Kudos to her that she had success as an actress despite being homely. Another one of the sisters was "Granny" (Irene Ryan) in the "Beverly Hillbillies. 1930's movies
Leon Schlesinger produced the cartoon sequence at the beginning (originally shown in Technicolor), using three of his animators: Clampett, Jones, and Bob Cannon. At the time, Leon loaned Bob and Chuck to Ub Iwerks for two "Looney Tunes" cartoons his studio produced [and received directing credit, although Bob actually supervised them]: "Porky and Gabby" and "Porky's Super Service". Schlesinger was so impressed, he gave Clampett his own animation unit as a director {Chuck continued to work with him, and was promoted himself a year later}.

"I don't cause things; I just forecast them." Race-to-the-bottom rivals Oliver Hardy's "I don't know a lot about anything, but I know a little about a lot of things!"

Bob Clampett and Chuck Jones who both later became directors for Looney Tunes did the animation at the beginning.
