  • You can buy our registration device for perfectly aligned multi-block or reduction linocut printing here www.lauraboswell.co.uk/shop.php - if you are new to the channel, there is a playlist of films about using the registration device. We sell press or hand printing versions and can make special orders to your desired dimensions.
The device comes with one MDF insert included. I am using packing tape (brown or clear will work) and a carpet tile adhesive. You need a glue that will bond to plastic as well as the lino. the lino is traditional artist's lino with the jute backing.

Thank you very much for that ingenious tip. BRILLIANT. I had been trying for ages to think of a way that I could re use my MDF blocks. The problem was beyond me and was making my poor brain hurt. It seemed such a waste. So many thanks on behalf of my wallet, the environment and my peace of mind. Kirsty

I paint my mdf with water based polyurethane, stick my Lino down with carpet tile pressure sensitive adhesive.
It peals off the MDF with a little effort and is reusable.

Great hack! thanks Laura. Especially being able to remove part of the block. Amazing and very, very clever.

Top tip! Thanks Laura. Have you tried repositionable adhesive spray?. It kind of converts the surface into a giant post-it. I have seen it used by screen printers to keep the paper on the MDF boards while printing through the screen. I don't have a press, but I could imagine it would work well also.

Worth testing, but lino gets a hammering with the cleaning and all the pressing and pushing when people are cutting so it needs a hefty bond between it and the backing not to move and lose the alignment
