  • Lining up two blocks for accurate printing. You can buy the printing jig (registration device) used in this series from my website shop at www.lauraboswell.co.uk. It's available for tabletop printing or for use in a press. We also make them made to measure. Check out the 'Tricks and Tips to using our Registration Device' playlist for more ideas and help. I mention Episode 5 from the reduction with Laura playlist for a video all about ink.
Both prints from this series are now available in my website shop - these signed originals cost £35 each and we ship worldwide
If you are enjoying & learning from my films and would like to help us keep these videos free at source, please chip in with a small donation. We have a fundraising page at GoFundMe gf.me/u/zd8bcq

Thanks for the video Laura. I really like this print. Reminds me of those misty winter days on the Cleveland hills. Keep safe and stay well.

Such an effective print from what is really a very simple set of blocks (although obviously a very well drawn and cut lino block to get the effect to work). I'm getting inspired to experiment with woodgrain, but I've got a feeling these methods might not work so well with my usual water-based inks as they'd potentially distort the wood during the printing process.

I couldnt find the next video where she prints it up. Did anyone else see it?

Thanks for the video, but I am a bit confused... I get the first part about transferring the needed information/imagery from the wood block to the tracing paper, but then the lino block you showed was already affixed onto the backboard and was already cut. So at that point, the two are set and can't be repositioned to line up correctly. I am assuming that what you did prior to the video was to transfer the tracing to an uncarved piece of lino that was mounted and then you cut the lino so the two would line up? Is that right? Thanks much!

Hi Ann - I am sorry for the confusion - I covered this technique for transfer more thoroughly in other videos on the site so this time I went with being able to show the finished effect rather than the details. I did position and the lino using the tracing, stiuck it down and used carbon to transfer the woodblock details. Then I drew and cut my trees. I am going to show this in more detail for the other, more complex print I am making for this series in a later film.

@@LauraBoswellPrintmaker Thanks for your response, Laura! I will look at the prior videos and look forward to the later video for more explanation. I love your videos and post links to them often on social media. Happy new year to you and Ben!

The larch is just the right thickness for the print? It is the same height as the Lino I assume. Was that just a coincidence?

@@LauraBoswellPrintmaker so that is not a printing problem I guess.
