Whenever I think I know how to do something, you teach me different, more practical and more interesting ways of doing it! Thank you very much for all the effort you put into these videos.
If its Thursday, it must be Leila ... my usual routine ... hot coffee while watching Leila's latest presentation. Interesting approach ... not sure I have an immediate need ... but always appreciate another "tool" in the shop (so to speak).
Great video as always Leila. I often use this Custom Formatting in my spreadsheets - "as of " dd/mm/yyyy Then just use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + ; or a date calculation to end up with a date that is still a date in the cell, but prefixed with "as of " (or "last updated on ", or "Due by ", etc)
There are two major revelations in this short tutorial for me!! I have had the occasion to use this several times in the past and can’t wait to use it in the future!
Your videos are amazing. I wish I found your videos sooner. Most people have Excel on their desktops and have no idea how powerful Excel is. It is mostly taken for granted.
Pretty cool! Just this week I helped a relative with combining and separating text for a moderately complex project. When I showed her the many ways we can use the & symbol she thought it was like magic. I also showed her how to separate first and last name from a single cell using the functions "left", "mid", and "search." Normally, she would manually separate a couple of hundred cells with names. I wasn't aware that I could create my own custom number format with text so that's nice to know if I ever need it. Thanks!
Craziest thing just happened. I was working in a spreadsheet last night someone else setup, and there was text added onto a result that did not exist in the equation. It was a big WTF moment. Had no idea how to attack it. Did not search for this video, just happened to click on it during random you tubing and here I come to your explanation at the end! GET OUT OF MY HEAD! 😀 Mind blown. Awesome job!
The & is really powerful, i use it in my warehouse job to search for inventory adjustments for product&location. Makes a unique key. Really love the bonus tip too
Excellent tutorials... Keep up the good work. The components of the custom format are: positive;negative;zero;text Tip from me... You can format individual text components in the formula bar, i.e. colours, styles etc... Handy when creating financial accounts and you need to emphasis a change in process. Fortunately, Microsoft in their wisdom and foresight made every single character an individual addressable object. Just don't get carried away!
I've used this several times. Very good explanation. The key here being that's it's dynamic. If you just wanted a column with this format, you could type in the first one and then use Flash Fill - but it's static at that point.
@@LeilaGharani ma'am with the help of your video in which you taught how to convert number to words without macro, I have conveted that formula in Indian system. Thank a lot for your guidence 🥰🥰

The "Text to Columns" tool (on the Data tab) is also good for separating things like full names into first, middle, last.
