It's the best Melodie on RUclips - sweet but not schmaltzy. It is the only version that carries the tint of melancholy. How I miss you Szeryng! Also miss your solo Bach too.
A great artist and humanitarian Szeryng was. It is incredible that this is the kind of performance it is - I only found out at the very end!!! Truly inspired.
I appreciate very much your comment because it's not about what you value the most, but what touches you the most. Art is not about being better like in sport, but it's indeed about communication and this is how I understand your comment. It has something to do with love of the woman you love and want to live with. It's not about what is the best like in a competition, but what attacks one's soul; often it feels like an attack, but a great one.
I am a recorder and Baroque flute specialist who was initially trained as a violinist, and Heifetz chose to follow the original Gluck version vs. the Kreisler, which greatly alters rhythms, note values, and drag the tempo. I learned this after learning the piece on Baroque flute and recorder, discovering that the Kreisler version I had learned was greatly altered. As a result, I not only had to be retrained how to properly play the piece, but also no longer can stand the Kreisler version. Consequently, I give my violin students a copy of the Gluck original flute part should my students request to learn this piece. Although Heifetz was way before historical performance became a major musical field, I laud him for adhering to the Gluck original and urge all violinists to do the same. :)
Kinda like the Kreisler version better myself. And Henryk plays it beautifully. In Music there is more than on correct version. Too bad you can't appreciate this one.

오이스트라흐의 연주만큼 좋다!
So boring, compared to very young Ginette Neveu...
Why after I hear Heifetz, everyone else's performance is like student playing and boring.
