I have to disagree with your take on GxK. I do think that the Monsterverse is maybe hit or miss but I don’t think it’s bad for movies like GxK to go for the tone it did. It’s like a modern Showa era movie (or maybe Hesei). If Godzilla Minus one wants to go back to the roots of the original with dark and foreboding themes, that’s cool. But GxK is just taking from Godzilla’s even longer history of just being fun movies to watch. I think the movie(s) could use work of the human drama (and maybe some of the acting tbh) But overall GxK was just a fun ride.
GXK made money cause it was good, sure its not that deep like Minus one's plot and human cast, but it is damn good as a kaiju movie treating the monsters as the main characters and having many cool action scenes, we should keep that going and maybe they'll get Toho's approval to go further with Godzilla as the focus, the reason we get so much Kong is cause he doesn't come with mandates.

Was throwing shade at GxK necessary? Didn’t get pass that… sad to see fans like this
The amount of salt that gets thrown around between some MV fans & some Toho fans is really annoying. It reminds me of the idiotic "PS fanboys vs. XBOX fanboys". Sadder still, Godzilla is not even a separate brand like DC vs Marvel or suffering like the current Star Wars 🤷. This is Godzilla's golden age.

Don't we all ask ourselves the same thing? Why do we exist? Why does anything exist? Is there a higher power that has called for the presence of our very being? If so, why is it that we must suffer through the very cycle we call life? Is it because it is what binds us together as one? Is it because in order to experience the ideas of love and joy, we must endure pain and hatred? This universe, growing in a state in which we can't comprehend, is full of mystery... But who's to say we shouldn't live to experience its wonders?
