I’ve heard of all sorts of arrangements from full sponsorship, to paying cost, to getting a discount. Just depends on who the surfer is and how much value they bring to the shapers brand. I think biggger win stream brands(Merrick, Lost, and such have more of a marketing budget.)

Andy flunked off tour and then came back with a vengeance. Sunny was taking heads all the way to the podium. You’re a nice, humble young man; great representative of the 808, but the difference between you, Keanu Asing, and Dusty Payne is you have to leave the nice guy on the beach and bring the warrior spirit to the waves. I’m not saying be a Richard, but if you want to win it all you have to be a ruthless competitor. Fact: nice guys finish last; and this is competition. If you just wanna cruise and do ok, then that’s all you’ll do; but if you want to be a legend with respect from top to bottom then you better hit the water like your families food depends on it. Slater, king of the headgames, A.I. would hassle and press a fellow competitor to the max, Sunny would just give ‘em a look, and they are all forever world champs. Parks and Mick were killers, Taj was a bridesmaid. I’m not saying change your character, but if you want the big prize you better change your game.
