I love Pops and Threes. I learned to surf in Waikiki as a kid, then every Winter from age 20 to 30 I would spend 3 weeks between there and Sandy's. Live in Ireland now but dream of bringing my family to where my love of surfing started. Glad I discovered your Channel. Great stuff. 🏄

Im from NJ, turning 30 in a few months, been surfing for 5yrs, been body boarding since I can remember. I wanted to learn to surf since I first saw someone surf, on LBI. I still consider myself a beginner because I only really surf a few months of the year, but I’ve noticed this last year and this year I sort of have become more intermediate. One week this year we had some gnarly swells (for June NJ) and I caught the best wave of my life wave. Like anyone with adhd tho, I forgot my full body wet suit and the water was like 57 degrees f, so I went in with a mid length. Anyway I’ve never seen any videos about what to do as you try to advance and where to go? So I’m planning a trip to Hawaii this year, because I think it’s time. I only really know or feel like I can surf in Waikiki, tho I’ve been looking for spots for people moving into intermediate. I’m assuming I can speak to some st the surf shop and in the line up, and talk to them. Also trying to find some things to do to like appreciate native Hawaiian culture and its people and idk 🤷‍♂️ never seen any surf vids on that, or like what surfers think about the stealing of Hawaii and how surfing culture could bring like I’m going to say “give Aloha to the native Hawaiians”. I’m hoping the way I used aloha would make sense 😅 I’ve been reading island wisdom Also I’m fucking terrified of localism btw As a pacifist and someone with adhd and autism like being subjected to a new situation, with the possibility of like being attacked by a clique of locals is fucking terrifying like… it’s like that movies mean girls

I surfed magic island at ala moana a bunch across the canal from bowls. Its can get pretty big and sketchy with the large rock wall cove. Some people even went right but its mostly a left.
