Congrats Zeke 👏 You really showed your true colors as a hard-charging Native Hawaiian big wave surfer out there @ Waimea Bay on that epic day. To have won the wave of the day award is truly commendable as well, & those 250K Hawaiian Airlines award miles actually are worth more than the $10K first prize award. And, when you really think about the essence of big wave surfing, that's how it should be--the surfer who successfully rode the biggest & baddest wave of the day is the one who should receive the highest accolades. Anyway, this event really isn't about money--it's really about honoring the legacy of Eddie Aikau, who will always be a true Native Son of Hawai'i, & one of her greatest, & most courageous, waterman.
Def not about the money, but 90K Hawaiian Airlines miles is about two round trips to the mainland. So 250K worth closer to $3K. Big ups to Zeke though for taking wave of the day.
All of that was sick. The first 21 was scored way low though. Respect
