Aft Balcony looks amazing, I purposely choose a cabin away from elevators for 2 reasons, less footfall & after all the food that is on offer I personally walk as much as possible ☺️
I've sailed in a Jr Suite on the back of the Splendour of the Seas. We loved everything about it. After leaving Bermuda to cross the Atlantic to the Azores, we hit 30 ft seas. You'd literally feel the bed fall out from beneath you. I've never slept better in my life. It's crazy, as i get carsick easily, but the sea doesn't bother me. (I was pregnant, too ... ). We always watched the sunset after dinner and one night there were whales chasing the ship. It was a once in a lifetime experience. I highly recommend aft cabins.
My hubby and I stayed in an aft balcony once ( I can't remember which ship it was), but I loved it! I spent more time out there watching the wake than on any other cruise.....simply beautiful.
Thanks for the cabin review. Love the storage in this cabin. The bathroom is tight. The fluffy cruisers would like you to test the toilet sitting situation. My husband watched this video and shook his head "nope" when he saw the space between the commode and the glass shower door. You and he are about the same degree of fluffy.
Subject to nausea with motion, along with being a very light sleeper (although the view is gorgeous), I’ll choose a more midship balcony/suite. Know I’d so enjoy the additional room, not worth risking an unpleasant cruise for me. Glad you had a great time! Thanks again for a great channel!
My wife and I sailed the Odyssey awhile back and we ended up with an aft corner balcony. All I can say isWOW it was fantastic. I will be trying to score that same type of cabin on my next cruise. Keep up the great work Tony, it is appreciated.
I've had aft balconies on a couple cruises (not on the Odyssee!). Definitely seemed to feel more of the vibration when docking/undocking and while cruising. The balconies are great, but we did get some fine ash-type particles that were from the stacks. Also that walk to the elevator is definitely a pain when you forget something!
I’ve always avoided the aft because of engine vibration. Your walk to the elevator has reassured me I’ve made the right choice to book a cabin right near the elevators for my next three cruises.
We sailed in an aft cabin in our last cruise and I loved it. We were on Carnival. I never noticed them docking. Once we woke and had already docked, but never woke. Our hangers did swing on the first night but we just put the leftover hangers on the floor like you did.
Hello there ! My first ever comment on any of your videos ! We are in an alf facing balcony for the very first time on next year's Star Trek cruise ! Your video made the aft facing cabin look amazing ! So excited now for our new experience !
We had an aft balcony on Disney Fantasy and it was the best cabin EVER! you definitely feel vibration maneuvers, not anything to worry about. We never had any ash.
We stayed in the aft balcony on odyssey and our favorite part of this room was that you do not get any foot traffic by your door. You have a lot more privacy and will never been woken up by people running, talking or whatever else is happening in the hallways at night or early morning.
Personally I’m a big fan of AFT cabins. Yes, there a little bit nosier then regular balcony cabins but I like the sound of the sea. And they are specially amazing if you do a scenic cruise!
Don't know who you cruised but my bride and I have been in the aft cabins on Holland America..Equinox and Celebrity Reflection and had a great time..the view is 180* and in our humble opinion the view of the heavens at night is awesome..👍🏻
I've been on an aft balcony twice. Once on MSC Poesia and once on MSC Divinia. Loved them both. Both were much larger. The Poesia was very big. The Divinia was large on the inside but really long on the balcony. It fit 2 chaises, 2 chairs and a table with plenty of room. Also half balcony was covered and half in sun. Just watch the decks. Not all the same. Especially if the ship aft curves. I didn't feel any motion. But the only vibration I felt was the engines when docking. It was like having an alarm set each port day. I ran out onto the balcony to watch the docking procedure.
My husband and I chose aft balconies for years. We loved how "protected" it felt and love the sail away. But, we found there was a persistent smell of sewage and soot from the ship's chimney, so we finally gave it up. We have been happy on the port or starboard side of the ship. As for ship movement, we went to another extreme with cabins near the top and the front. I, personally, do not mind the movement of the ship (although hangers bonking would be irritating). I highly recommend trying an aft balcony on your ship of choice. It's definitely worth a few extra bucks for a bit more balcony space and a great view! (And thank you, Tony, for NOT slamming the door...ha ha!)
AFT cabins our # 1 choice when you can get one. The 2 times we were successful we basically never left the cabins except to eat, sleep or enjoy a walk around the ship. Having spent almost 30 years in the hotel industry we cruise to get away from tourists. Back there it's sea air, good reading and our two tablets.
Thanks Tony! I love the extra deep balcony and ability to get out of the sun/rain/wind, when needed. Plus the extra 6 ft of open cabin space to do morning yoga...kidding, thats where I'll picnic with my room service feast!
We always seek out Aft balcony cabins if they are available... not only are you away from foot traffic, but the "bonus space" on the balcony is a huge perk for us. I'm not super concerned about the walk to the elevators (as a previous poster mentioned, it's payment for the delicious food we enjoy on board)... what I would advise is watching for what's on the decks above. We'll usually try to get a cabin with one deck of other cabins above so we're not directly below the buffet, but if there's a party spot on the aft like NCL's Club H20 several decks of space are better... otherwise you need to be prepared to "relax" to the sound of dance music at all hours of the night...
Whenever possible, I sail AFT cabins. Yes, I feel the motion more, which is what I want. More vibration when docking but fine too. The view of the sea is why I cruise, so the other things are non issues. Nothing like standing on your balcony with the world welcoming you.
For someone who sailed freighters for over 30 years, that minor movement would just reminds me I'm on a ship. Merchant ships would vibrate more due to less insulation. Crew comforts were a little less of a concern on merchant vessels. There should be some vibration aft in shallow water as the prop thrust bounces off the mud below. Due to the shape of the stern they were able to include enough extra room for that dance floor, nice. If that's all they have I'm in but prefer a cabin forward to see where we're going. Good stuff, Tony.
We love the aft cabin, so much that we actually booked a ship date of it had a vacant aft cabin!! The longer balcony is great, usually can get lounger chairs which are great for an afternoon nap. End the evening out there listening and watching the wake and the stars! So quiet and peaceful. I find the balcony is so much more calm, less wind than the sides, actually no wind. There is literally no hall traffic as only those on the aft are using that hall. The con is defiantly the long walk so if you have mobility issues I would not recommend. There may be more movement back there, we have had the hanger situation and felt some vibration but on the most part nothing out of the ordinary.
I'll have an aft Jan of 23, I said the same thing about a cove balcony with less wind, hall traffic never really bothers me. Can't wait for the Aft balcony
We had the aft balcony cabin 10728 right next to you for two weeks in October. Loved that stateroom and the view was worth the longer than usual walk. It really is in a quiet area with no traffic that passes by your stateroom back there. Our bed was next to the balcony door and that extra floor space was great. We have exact same cabin 10728 for the 13 night transatlantic in Oct 2022 I would not hesitate to book one of these on future Odyssey sailings
My wife and I are staying in an aft penthouse suite with large balcony on the Norwegian Sky in a couple weeks (Aug 12 sailing)…we plan on spending quite a bit of time out on that balcony….it looks amazing. This will be our first time in an aft cabin…looks like I made a wise choice based on this video…cannot wait. I also plan to spend extensive time “testing the fates”.

We did have an Aft balcony. We absolutely loved it. The motion isn’t a bother to us. The rocking puts us to sleep. Our room was in a cove like away from the hall noise. Elevators weren’t too far.
I was assigned an aft balcony once and fell in love with the location so now I try to get them every time. The only time I've noticed extra motion is when arriving and leaving ports. :)
I've had an aft cabin on the Emerald Princess for a Caribbean Cruise. It was nice. I really don't remember any excess motion. Sitting back and watching the ships wake fade off to the horizon was a wonderful extra. Quiet and calm.
Had an extended aft balcony on a cruise several years ago. No breeze and was always hot. When I woke up in the morning, the balcony was covered in cig butts. View was awesome.
Hi Tony! Yes, sailed aft balcony on a cruise to Alaska. We LOVED the views and spent so much time on our balcony. I did have a bad bout of motion sickness and missed our first formal night. The hangers were really smacking the closet that day! Should have put the patch on earlier. I don’t know if I would go aft again. A more centralized location is more desirable.
Brad and I just got off an aft balcony yesterday. It was our first time for aft. We loved the spacious of the cabin and the balcony itself. The only negative is since you are in aft if the great coffee is all the way forward it is a lot of walking.....LOL.....We needed the walk after all the food but man first thing in the morning is tough....lol
Hi Tony! Aft balconies are way more spacious than regular balcony cabins Thank you for the great aft balcony room tour 🛳☀️🌊 We’ve only experienced motion in the aft balconies during rough seas, like windy or stormy days.
Had the aft balcony deck 10 728 and the view was awesome, both at sea and in ports. Balcony was bigger than most. We also had the room next door (family) so we had them open the partition between the two balconies...outstanding.
We had an aft balcony on the CCL Sunshine and loved it!!! Really didn’t feel any motion or noise and the view was not blocked at all. It was stunning!! And Tony!!! That walk to your elevator IS LONGGGGG!!!!!! We’ve had to walk that far to an elevator….strange but great looking cabin. :-) 🛳🌴🏝
We prefer the back of the boat. We've shared an aft facing suite with friends twice. My husband has daily naps on a lounge chair. We get room service on lobster night and eat at the balcony table. We also love the views. We know the walk is longer, but it's worth it.
It was nice to see I’m.not the only one who lines up the hangers on the floor! The only time I stayed at the aft of the ship I would literally be rolled right out of my bed at night with the motion.
Sailed on aft cabin on Princess and loved it. Had no problems. Would sail in an aft cabin again in a heartbeat if it was on Princess. Thank you for all the great videos
I agree with you about the color, I really like it. Some ships have red or bright orange (reminds me of the 70’s, not known for its great decorating style) the blue and beige is calming and classy. Nice video, thanks agree Tony. Have a great Thanksgiving!!
We took a cruise out of Galveston a few years ago. There m was a mix up during check in that ended up with us being put in an aft cabin. It had an incredible balcony that wrapped around the corner of the ship! Yes, we noticed the movement and some vibration but it didn’t bother us so it turned out to be a nice thing.
Just got back from 7 days on the NCL Escape. This ship’s first time out since the shut down. What a wonderful NO MASK experience with a crew that was thrilled to be BACK!
I’m on an aft facing balcony right now; I love them! A few years ago I was lucky and a guaranteed balcony turned into an aft facing balcony. I’ve been an aft man ever since. ;)
Love our aft facing cabins on Celebrity. Our first one was a aft facing Sky Suite on the Equinox in 2018. There’s nothing like watching the wake and the world go by.
Was upgraded to a mini suit aft balcony on a cruise to South America around Cape Horrn ... West to East. Fabulous! Especially the deck where we had chaise longes for great afternoon naps traveling thru the Straits of Magellan.
Sailed aft facing balcony in Alaska on Island Princess. Magical!!! I agree that the only minus would be the long walk to the elevators and stairs. We loved the view so much that we have an aft balcony booked on NCL Joy for Feb 2022.
One thing Carnival does right is have 3 sets of elevators so the walk from anywhere on the ship is not so long. Royal usually only has two sets and it can be a hike from some parts of the ship.
The best thing about the aft……you get to enjoy the view of where you’ve been long. My son and I had an aft on our first cruise and that spoiled us fir any other state room.
Was on Celebrity Summit Aft balcony deck 8 or 9. Amazing even during semi tropical storm. The depth of balcony was over 20 feet. Had another Princess aft suite in Greece that had spectacular views every day.
Hey Tony San Diego here again on the Koningsdam we had the same issue with the bathroom if you sat properly on the toilet your knee was banging on the glass shower door I don’t know who invented that but it definitely was somebody that must’ve been 50 pounds or less it’s very hard to sit on the toilet properly so you kind of have to sit on it a little sideways we also found it kind of stupid that our toilet paper dispenser was behind the toilet so you had to pretty much do a twist and turn twister game to reach the toilet paper ..we just pulled it off the dispenser and kept it on the edge of the sink ..it was easier to get to .it’s a great cabin you have.. but I do think they could’ve made that shower area a little more square instead of kind of odd shape.a really tightly cramped place ..take care Tony ..love the cabin views ..take care of your health.. have a great trip Home….p.s… I hope they were bathrooms located between that long walk from your cabin and the elevator it sure would help me in my age because if there wasn’t they’d be some major problems right there lol…!
Once you go Aft... 🤔 My hubby likes the aft balconies; I enjoy both a traditionally placed balcony and aft. I found there to be about the same amount of motion, but in the other direction. (rotated 90 degrees) For example - on a traditional balcony stateroom, the motion when laying in the bed might be side-to-side, while the aft stateroom - the motion might be head-to-toe. If motion bothers you, consider a different area of the ship. (or the motion patches, etc)
Just got off the Majestic Princess on the AFT. We were blessed with a gorgeous cabin with a wrap around balcony (best of both worlds!). The good definitely out weighed the vibration and extra movement (which wasn’t bad on our voyage). Thankfully, as you know, there are 3 banks of elevators on the Majestic, and only had to walk (Scoot) Mid if we were going to the dining room. I would definitely choose AFT when ever possible! The dolphins chasing the ship…amazing! The wake view…are you kidding me? Amazing! The only challenge for me at times was I had a scooter, and when the room stewards had their carts out, it was a tight squeeze. I noticed the Odyssey had even more narrow hallways. Don’t think I would have made it through that maze!!! My vote will always be AFT!!!
My husband and I always try and get an aft balcony. We love them and I've never really noticed more motion. We love to enjoy our balcony so the larger one makes sense to us.
We had a Sky Loft Suite on deck 8 on Ovation and had the same feeling about the long walk. We actually only went two the concierge lounge a couple times because it was also on the aft on deck 12 so to get there you had to walk all the way to the elevator and all the way back on deck 12. It’s not a big deal but we aren’t in the best shape so it felt longer lol.
I scored a port aft cabin years ago on the Carnival Glory. It was by far the best cabin we ever had. We had a wrap around balcony. We could have put 8 people on our balcony no problem. Our cabin was big .
I've booked an aft silver junior suite with big balcony (J1) on Spectrum (younger sister to Odyssey) on the 12th deck. Its a much bigger room than this and comes with a bathtub. Can't wait for my cruise :). There are similar aft rooms on the 13th deck but not the best because deck 14 above is a public area :)
Love aft cabins. Sailed one in 2014 to Alaska and I am back in the exact same cabin this June for another trip to Alaska. The views are really amazing and I would highly recommend it, especially for Alaska. We are on Celebrity but the balcony looked very similar. We had a couple recliners as well.
Love aft facing rooms.. Always book them now. I figure if the movement feels "boatie" its supposed to and we don't mind it. Don't mind the walk either but we tend to like to relax on the balcony at night and drink and talk rather than immerse ourselves in the peopley stuff :)
Aft facing cabins are my favorite!
I like how you make sure the door doesn't slam. Great cabin.
I spent more time out there watching the wake than on any other cruise.....simply beautiful.
hey tony, just an fyi, the shower head has a button that you press to have a stronger stream, my last cruise i found it on the last day.

Aft balconies are my favorite!!! I love the views and you don't get the wind you get on a forward or even a port/starboard.
Love aft balconies!
We always book the aft balcony. It is very relaxing. ❤️
We stayed in this exact cabin in Jan 21 and LOVED it. I would book it again in a heart beat. It made me love aft facing balconies.

Welcome to the Fam Kristen 👋🏻
We LOVE aft balconies. Ron was in the navy for years, and looking out at the wake behind the ship is his happy place
We were in Aft balcony on our Alaska cruise....loved it !!!-
We had an aft balcony on Disney Fantasy and it was the best cabin EVER! you definitely feel vibration maneuvers, not anything to worry about. We never had any ash.
Very funny, Tony! One of the best titles! 😂!

Same! I like more rocking too.

Thanks for the tour Tony. We’re mid-ship cruisers to avoid the motion. The walk would be a plus for us to help burn off some of the cruise calories.
GREAT AFT VIEW FROM THE BALCONY

Hahaha. Awesome title and thumbnail. And I’m a gentleman so I won’t answer that question, (until I’ve had a few drinks).
Simply posing the question about booking a cruise in an aft balcony! 🙂
THANKS for the walk. It really gave a good perspective.

I was on this same ship and got upgraded to the grand loft suite at the aft! Greatest cruise ever! Included a Genie

I've had an aft cabin on the Celebrity Solstice. it was great. I loved sitting on the balcony and watching the ship's wake.
We are forever fans. Thank you for your updates and hard work.
We sailed in an aft cabin on a Mediterranean cruise. It was the best!
We sailed in aft cabin in Alaska we had constant views of all parts of inside passage, wonderful!
Hi Tony, thanks for the comments. Cruising in April and we are on an Aft balcony suite also. Seems like a good choice. Safe travels
I was assigned an aft balcony once and fell in love with the location so now I try to get them every time. The only time I've noticed extra motion is when arriving and leaving ports. :)
I love how the couch is closer to the balcony verses the bed.

Boardwalk balcony my favorite. Always first choice on deck 11 or 12
Hi Tony!
Aft balconies are way more spacious than regular balcony cabins
Thank you for the great aft balcony room tour 🛳☀️🌊
We’ve only experienced motion in the aft balconies during rough seas, like windy or stormy days.
Def an aft man myself as well
Yesss Aft balconies are Awesome 👏👏
We had AFT Balcony when we went to Alaska on Princess, In fact we got upgraded to it. We loved it. It was completely awesome!!
I would love that balcony. Good for you.

Thank you for sharing! First time cruiser here. Wonder if the seas. Aft balcony stateroom and I cannot wait. Looks like it’s a fantastic space.
I love the aft cabins. I also like the bow cabins. You get rocked to sleep every night.

We loved our aft cabin. Sadly it was not available on our last cruise!
The caption on the thumbnail got me. Well played, Tony.
Thank you for sharing Tony, I've never seen a aft room its very nice. love that balcony

I'm on for a back to back in Dec. Good to hear!
You are correct. Aft rooms can be noisy when docking. Still book one every chance I get. Can't beat the view.
I’m on an aft facing balcony right now; I love them! A few years ago I was lucky and a guaranteed balcony turned into an aft facing balcony. I’ve been an aft man ever since. ;)
Happy Saturday!!! Cruising thru you! Thanks for taking us along!
We LOVE AFT Balconies!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HAL has three sets of elevators as well.
My hubby likes the aft balconies; I enjoy both a traditionally placed balcony and aft.
That’s my favorite way to cruise is the AFT balcony. Not only you have they best view but i feel it provide more space than the regular balcony suite.
Omg you actually wrote “do you like it in the aft”. GETTIN SASSY THERE BARNETTE!!!!
Nice bathroom! The big guys in the bathroom🤣. That’s gold jerry! Gold! Love the tour guys
My fav balcony location 😎
🤣 I’m here because the image text made me LOL! Good one, Tony!
Always my fave!!!
