    • @MileswithMcConkey
      @MileswithMcConkey  Год назад

      Actually, I am so jealous. The balcony on Deck 8 was the biggest and has the balcony above come out as a cover so that you can stand on the balcony when (or if) it rains. We didn't have that and had to run in and out of the rain to take pictures. You will be closer to the Sea Otters and the Whales. I ALWAYS look for Deck 8 first when booking, but it was sold out and Deck 10 was the lowest we could get. In my opinion, you have the BEST deck. Thanks for watching and I hope you have an amazing time. ❤️ This truly was one of the best trips we have taken.

    • @MileswithMcConkey
      @MileswithMcConkey  Год назад +2

      Hi Karen, Thank you for watching. I have spent several days thinking about how to answer this question. Sorry I took so long. I think excursions all depend on your desire. We reserved 4 excursions and 3 were cancelled as soon as we got on the ship 😳. We had to scramble to find replacements. First, the White Pass Summit railroad in Skagway was great, but not our first choice. We had a seaboat excursion up into Moose country that was cancelled. The ride had amazing views, but we like adventure. Just like in Juneau we did hiking to Mendenhall Glacier which we loved, but other did a boat to see whales. Which I felt we saw from our balcony anyways. In Ketchikan we had hiking reserved, but again cancelled so we did a walk in the forest. Wasn't too excited about it, but we did see a momma bear with her 2 cubs. The Denali Helicopter tour was the one that we felt was not worth the price. The description was very misleading. The helicopter was amazing, but the 3 hours walking around in a tundra learning about plants was not our cup of tea. We were lead to believe there would be lots of wildlife to see. In Denali we took the free bus where we could get off whenever, while others took the $80 bus for 8 hours into the park, but you can't get off the bus. Sorry, this reply is very long, I hope some of this helped. I hope you have an amazing adventure whatever you select. ❤️

      Hi Paul, I was worried about the same thing. It wasn't noisy at all. A lot of the times you have land on both sides so the ship moved slower. We were on our balcony almost the whole time and LOVED every minute. There were people above and below on their balconies and we could have conversations with no problems hearing each other. We would all point out to each other the whales and orcas around the ship. I would HIGHLY recommend an AFT room. Thanks for watching. ❤️

      Yes, you do see wildlife from the aft. You are able to see both sides of the ship which is absolutely amazing! There is a guide that host whale watching on the back of the ship every night because they are so easy to see. So with your own aft room, you have all the privacy and not fighting over seats and rail space to see them. The noise level is not bad at all. We found it very peaceful and relaxing.
