I love it! It seems to be an epic performance! It's such a pity that this piece will not be broadcast via "Live in HD" :-(

Performing this in English takes so much of the viennese charme of the operetta away:( The language is as much a part of this as is the music...

I love that Betsy Wolfe (Olga) tries to sing!

Actually, the name of the character she's playing is "Ida", and it almost looks like her character is silent for some reason. xD

In fact, Ida is usually either supposed to be a dancer‘s part or a speaking role.

Emma Iadanza and by the way in the operetta Adele refers to herself as Olga. Not Ida.

I thought it's nice they tried a new translation because the old one is questionable in parts, but this is even worse unfortunately.

Why stage this in English? This is the most Austrian opera ever. It's practically unintelligible. And what a waste of gorgeous singing talent. That production is attrocious.

I agree. I recently played a version of the Opera where the entire theme was modified to wild west with a mix of English and Spanish and I think it was brilliant. But this production is just off-putting. I think if you are going to make changes it has to be drastic so that it has its own unique flavor?

I wish they would do realistic translations if they are going to do it in English.... this isn't even close

Dreadful. Elephantine, lead-footed and with a distinct whiff of a provincial little theatre production. Absolute outrage.
