I have a single 6.75" model of these in the rear hatch of my Focus ST, and it's being driven by a Kicker DXA250.1 monoblock amp, which is being fed signal source by an AudioControl LC2i LOC. The 6.75" version is meant to have 150-175 watts RMS, but my amp is closer to 250 at 2 ohms. Like you, I have the bass boost on my amp shut off, the gain on the amp is set between 9 and 10 O'-Clock, the remote bass knob is set to about 1 O'-Clock, and the EQ on my stock Sony/Sync head unit has the bas at -2, mids at -1, and treble to +2. This tiny box is smaller and lighter than the stock Sony 8" that the car came with, and yet it plays louder, deeper and harder than the OEM one did. I found this to be a better option, vs putting a Comp CVT driver in the stock box (which lots of Focus owners do).
Oh yeah, Nice video, nice honest back story and nice review!
Thank you so much, been looking to get subs for my Tacoma and your video sold me. I can’t find any sub boxes right now with good reviews that’ll fit 10’s or 12’s since the subboxshop is down. Finna order my setup with 4 8inch subs man, appreciate it!
I’m lookin for some to for my tacoma
Checkout the kicker soloberic L7T 10” it’s the square one. Kicker also makes a wedge box.
If you get them from Best Buy which they have I believe you can get them installed with the amp for a extra 65 bucks which is good in my opinion 👍 that’s the route I’m going.
You should or have someone set your gains on your amp and from your head unit with a DD-1 or an oscilloscope. It’s not so you can be louder. It’s to set the input at the correct level so the amplifier gives you the cleanest sound it can. It has nothing to do with getting louder bass. It’s what the amp is designed to be set with. Cool video. : )
passive radiators do make a big difference. I bet this system sounds good.
Thanks ronco
Why do they look like they have a black eye
Nice clean look I think I would like some for my S10
We’re did you get the wire setup for wiring the subs up to you factory radio I have a tundra
You think those can fit in my 2014 Tacoma ?
do u think i could fit 2 kicker comprt 10s in here same setup as yours just 10s
I have 500w going to just one of those subs, then I have 800w for the rest of the speakers. More power is always better. Still seems very bumpin though.
Hello mate is it ok if I put 200w amp for kicker tcomp rt124 4ohm 2x 30cm 2x12 " subwoofer bass box
Clean and simple...... 😉 nice.
Heads up boyz I just did it to my 2nd Gen works cherry!!!!
Can you make a video on the amp you re using. Channels, ohms, 🤘
I have one of those sub boxes, ran a LC2i, used a Kenwood 502 amp, replaced the door speakers with M Class Memphis Audio, replaced tweeters with STI Kicker stocks. Set the LC2i at mid way on all knobs, set the amp to match the speaker output; perfect. Outside the truck, virtually no sound. Inside the truck, Jurassic Park.To add, under-powering a sub can start a fire. Don't know how, but it happens.
What year is your truck? And a double cab?
2017 and yes
I drive a 1993 chevy cheyenne W/T1500 and I've been debating on the 8" rt kickers and the 10" rt kickers built like yours. But regular cab trucks hard finding boxes for it to fit. I think the 8s be good fit for behind seat and think they will hit great for a pickup truck. May do 2 boxes like yours to get maximum boomage
It's a great set up just make sure to have a large amp that can push them.
I think the 8s will fit better behind seat. About 6 to almost 7 inches of space on bottom of floor behind seat and it narrows as goes up to around 3 inches at top. I think a 800 watt amp pushing both boxes should do good in a truck
800 would be more than enough be careful not to burn them out. They are generally rated for 300 rms (one box) and 600 peak (one box)
DJTAZ1996 12 comp rt and don’t look back
I have a 1000w Hifonics amp going to 10"s
Can the sub volume completely cut out the subs to zero output if ya wanted to listen to AM radio?
Why would you need to cut out the sub to listen to am radio? Does it pick up the static?
I got a loaded pioneer enclosure shallow mount ten inch for a 2016 Tacoma double cab and ive heard rumors that the box it comes in won’t fit that I have to get a special box?
Not sure if you’ll respond, but did you have to move the seat bracket in between the driver and middle seat in the rear to get these to fit? I’m looking at getting 2 kicker 46l7t102 preloaded sub enclosures and they are the same size box
I didn’t have to for mine
So you got that box to fit (on the driver seat side) even with that seat mount in the way?
The subs take up all the room behind the rear seats. The amp is under the driver's seat and fits well
Stereo imput ?
If you have one of the sub boxes on the driverside can you leave the passenger side plastic storage in place?
With one box yes with two no
Just so you know your not supposed to use the gain knob as a bass knob if you turn up the gain to much it will damage and even possibly blow your subs
hi do you still have these sub. in your car. how does the sound perform after two or three years? i have one under seat but i 'm hesitating to buy a second . i also have digital sound 800.4 or 400 x 2 pushing them ... it does seems ok to me. the second sub i put. was to have a greater sound .it is a pioneer 30 " closed box. but i still want to change it for a second kicker 8" sub like your's. is it worth money to have a second one in it ? thanks for the review. nice one.
I've had these subs for about 6 years now (they were in another vehicle before) and I have had no issues with them. I believe I have 400 or 600w of power to power both subs and I think they sound good. It won't hit the super lows like 12s but for most songs, they provide plenty of bump. I started with one box but decided to get a second one and it was well worth it.
Sweet this is what I need
What’s the size of the boxes ?
I have 2 under my seat and 2 in front and I have q bluetooth kicker remote with gain shock phase and clip any good tuning recommendations for the setting on the remote?
Honestly this is a bit out of my field, I have no idea what to tell you.
@@BuckcreekTV no it's fine.
Sorry man a question like that you may be able to try crutchfield
I just picked up the 12” version. Is it possible to face the subs towards the rear of rear of the truck and not toward the seats? I will be installing on Saturday and was just wondering. Maybe the way the box is shaped it won’t work. Thanks
I am not certain with the seat angle it is hard to say.
Did it worked out with the 12"
@@cletoreyes9074 I had to remove the brackets so the box would fit due to the height of the box. I ended up returning to Crutchfield. It just didn’t produce the sound I wanted. I had Mr. Marv build me a custom ported box for a 10” image dynamics 500 watt rms sub. It hits the lows I wanted and plays very loud when wanted. It was expensive but well worth it to me.
Ohms? Serial - Parallel?
Hey buddy, do you think a pair of 8”s or 10”s will fit in my tundra, behind the rear seat?
I’m not familiar with the tundra If it’s similar to the Tacoma decide then I would say you should be able to get an eight or 10 back there
Do you think 2 of the 10” version of these would be good?
Yes they would
I probably sound dumb, but how did you connect both of them to one amp?
That's not a dumb question at all. A power cable links between the two. The first sub is connected to the amp while the 2nd sub is just connected to the first sub. I'm not sure however if they are connected in series or parallel. The install was done professionally.
Buck creek thank you so much!
@@BuckcreekTV That's a series circuit.
Do you think 2 of those 10inch subs would fit back there? I have a 2017 Tacoma and am wondering if two of those 10inch boxes would fit like the 8 inch ones do
Only problem I could see Is you may have to hammer the anchors for child seats
hey buck, not sure if i missed it in the video, where did you locate the amp????
I have the amp under the driver's side seat
@@BuckcreekTV thanks
I have a 2017 tacoma and thinking of getting 12 " and 7" deep will it fit?
I doubt it
What amp are you running? Description states 600-watt Alpine but you mentioned an 800-watt “Arc?”
I put the 600 watt alpine as an offset, once I get home I will verify which amp I have. The recommend power from kicker is 300 watts for the enclosure with a peak of 600 watts.
Anyone know if the Kicker Comp RT12's fit a 17 tacoma? I can't seem to find anything.
10s are the biggest you can fit back there
Is that sound deadening behind the subwoofer boxes
It is not
Where is the Best Buy at ? I need some stuff installed. Next week!
Where did you get the box? And does anyone have boxes that would fit a 2019 Tacoma. Thank you
If you go to kickers website you can find them on there.
so expensive :(
I wonder if these would fit in a 2009 tacoma?
Possibly, I don't remember how deep the pouches behind the seats are
I have the same kicker sub and it is already powered ( have its own amp ) , why you need another amp
Mine does not have its own amp different models maybe
I keep my sub at 1/4 too. Im not trying to rattle at stop lights and I listen to mostly rock that sounds like shit with too much bass
Yo!! This is what I was looking for!!
Thanks for the video. I'm planning on doing this in my Tacoma, but wanted to do the 10" version. Does the seat belt mount sit pretty close to your driverside box?
Yes it does, probably about an inch clearence
@@BuckcreekTV Thanks for the quick reply! Looks like I'll be doing this exact same set up then. I'm used to 2 10's in my Silverado, but I think this set up will do the job as well.
It certainly will, especially with the reduced can size.
@@BuckcreekTV So my subs came in today, and I noticed with excursion they hit the back of the seat. Did you have to trim any of the corner plastic away from the cab? The parts that attached to the storage compartments that were removed? Thanks!
I didn't have to do any trimming fortunately. After removing the rear plastic bins, the subs were a tight fit but no trimming was required.
Hey, how did you wire them? I’ve got one of those and planning to add another one. Thanks.
Is your amp 1 or 2 channel? If it’s 1 channel did you just double up the sub wires to the 1 channel? I’m tryna do same set up
My amp is a 2 channel, not sure about wiring, I had it professionally done
@@BuckcreekTVis the amp in your link the one you have? The alpine?
Hi I have a 2007 Tacoma double cab. I was wondering what is a better subwoofer the comp C or the comp Rt ? Thank you for your time. Looking for something to hide in the back seat as well.
I don’t have any experience with the comp c. The Comp RTs I’ve had are now 5-6 years old and still going strong.
@@BuckcreekTV thanks for getting back to me. Do you know if what is a newer line or newer technology the comp c or the RT by any chance. I can’t find any release dates on both. Thanks again for the help.
Sorry just found it on the Manuel’s page Comp c was in 2017 and RT was 2021. Looks like I going with the RT.! Thanks again for you video and time.
No problem!!
Last question, I saw in other comments you mentioned the RT 10” will not fit? Are you saying 2 will not fit ? If I just put one comp rt 10” will it be possible to fit in the back seat of my double cab Tacoma? Thanks again for you help.
Do you have a link to the box and subs ?
I do not but if you go to kicker.com and look at their boxes they are very easy to find
This is awesome! Have you checked if the subs excursion hit the back of the seat when is back to its original position? Or they completely clear it? So pumped to do this install!
I did check and they don't seem to be, but I also only have 400 watts to them
Buck creek Right! Thanks bud, are they single or dual voice coil? Just want to have some bass in the truck nothing too crazy
They are dual. This is certainly a great set up if you don't want to blow your eardrums out but have some vibration
“I’m not blowing 12 inches or anything”. Me neither brother. Me neither.
407 miles to empty???
Are you running a tune on the truck?
I only get 330 miles on mine with a full tank
I do a lot of highway driving and usually brim my tank.
Do you know if 1 box will fit if I only remove the small plastic bin and leave the big bin in?
How u install
Could u fit the kicker comprt 12” in the back as well?
If you are willing to bend some brackets it is possible
@@BuckcreekTV if u dont have the power window in the back u think u could
will the 10 inch fit?
I am not sure the 8 in. was a tight fit.
Do u think 1 12 of this sub would do the trick single cab ranger
I would think so
Prob a 10 even better in that small space, 10s bump hard af and sound better when they are powered correctly
Hey dude thanks great video i bought this sub to what do you think the best mono amp to pair with these to maximize them i really appreciate your help thanks David
Hey David, I really can't recommend one specific brand honestly I'm not a massive audio file and this is only my second setup with subwoofers and I had both done professionally. I've had great experiences with kicker personally but there might be a better one out there it may be best to contact a reputable dealer and get their opinion on it. I wish I could be more help but I don't want to mess anything up for you.
how does it sound outside? can you hear it a block down?
Not from a block down but within a few feet yes
@@BuckcreekTVokay thanks, im looking for something louder, I had a Pair of JL tw5 but same thing they were really loud inside the cab and like 50 feet away but im looking for something louder
Nice can I fit those on my 2001 tacoma
I’m not sure
$600😳,I kept looking around and ended up buying used Kenwood everything for around $350
Gotta save when you can
Used sub is a big no no
Do you know if the 4 ohm sounds the same?
I do not. I haven't heard them.
Ohms options don’t affect sound this rating is used to Mach amps to subwoofers an amp that is 4 ohm stable and is also 2 ohm stable will usually put out less power at 4 ohms ....dual voice coil (DVC) subwoofers can be wired in different configurations for example a DVC 4 ohm sub can be used as 4 or Wired as a 2 ohm don’t know if this helps
Where did you get them
I bought mine at the audio place where I had the work done. You can also find the items on crutchfeild or Amazon which I have linked in the description
is your factory system a jbl? if so thats why its quality
Nope, its actually just the standard factory unit
@@BuckcreekTV wow ... nice...
@@Leatherkid01 Lol there's way better makes than jbl out there (if you have money to spend) lol
@@drummonkeystuffuk1875 oh i know that.... 😁
Jbl quality 😂
I personally hate kicker but this seems like an alright set up💪🏻
Hey man, what makes you say that? Just curious
Righardt Nel i’ve had bad experiences with kicker there subwoofers pretty much the whole company to me it sucks i test car audio often i’ve tried lots and kicker really dont make it but it is a nice setup you got there
@@thaboiimarcos9459 is there a specific brand you’d recommend? I’m looking at a decent flat sub for my Golf and Kicker seems to have some decent ones but I haven’t really looked much further
Did you buy the walmart level kicker stuff?
@@medic619 no brother i bought basically most kickers to see how they would do me and i feel like they cant handle any power compared to my skars and pioneer my pioneers were surprisingly louder then the kickers so i just left kicker and sold the subs i had the subs i had were kicker comp c kicker L7 kicker comp Q kicker comp R
I just ordered the same but 10s
How did it go?
@@anthonyruiz3100 went good they actually good quality
Do they hit out side of car tho
It can with 8in. but 12s do that better
2 ohm or 4 ohm?
2 ohm
Can these fit on a Tacoma 2021?
They should be able to
@@BuckcreekTVthanks bro
@Buck Creek, If your volume is only at 25 and you can turn up the bass to full blast using the knob. The gain on the amp is setup wrong. To properly set the gain, turn the gain on the amp all the way down and the knob all the way up. Then use ohm's law find out the required voltage you need. Using a multimeter u can set the correct voltage output on the amp.
Meh you dont need a multimeter....use your ears or a dd1! or an o-scope...but you can easily hear when the bass is clipping.
I have a in converter from my stock stereo to kicked comp 10 box ,500 watt amp , do I turn the bass down on my stock stereo too ?? As I'm adjusting the gain on the amp ??
🔥👌💯
I installed all of this for you! lol
Haha you sure did and it is rocking! I've been thinking about updating the door speakers as well. Would kicker de a good option for this?
I'm actually installing now for the best buy in d'iberville, come see me
I definitely will
Does the subwoofers hit the back off the seat while flexing? Can I still use car seats on both sides?
Hello Brian...what impedance did you wire them to? Also, what amp did you/he use?
DOES THE 10 SUB FIT THE 2017 TACOMA
thats what i want to know too
I doubt it, the 8 in enclosures are somewhat of a tight fit.
@@BuckcreekTV I ordered some 10" ones so were gonna find out lol
If my measurements are right then it shouldnt be a problem
@@BuckcreekTV Also, the width (front to rear) are the exact same
i bought some they rattle
In order to really appreciate a sound system you have to upgrade the head unit.
What year is your Taco? I'm in a 2015 double cab prerunner. Yours has to be newer with that head unit so I'm trying to compare measurements behind the seats! I'm trying to avoid doing a custom box. The custom box would only fit a Kicker Comp RT 10, Rockford Fosgate P1 10 or a
Pioneer TS-SW2502S4 10. The Rockford and Pioneer are blane compared to the Comp RT imo. Buying this setup would be ideally cheaper then buying a custom box and sub separately! Thanks in advance!
Hey Ashley, this video has a 2017 Tacoma in it. That being said I also have a 2011 double cab Tacoma and the rear seat storage compartments look very comparable to the 2017. As in this video the rear storage shelving would need to be removed. While I can’t say with full certainty that it will fit, I would imagine it would be very close. It may be worth it to purchase a loaded enclosure from a company with a good return policy to verify fitment and then going from there. In terms of whether a 10 in. comp rt will fit I believe it does in the 3rd gen tacomas from another comment here but once again I can not say for certain if it will fit in a 2015. I hope this is helpful let me know if you have any more questions.
I guess its kind of difficult to actually hear what your subs sound like thru a video. I'm sure they "Thump" instead of what I heard.
Amp where are ????
The amp is located under the driver's seat
What amp are you using?
850 arc
ps the gain isnt meant to be altered it doesnt mean louder u already have a volume nobb trust me on this its meant to be set
should have shown how u installed it... (unless u got it installed)
I got it installed. I don't trust myself to do much if any electrical work.
@@BuckcreekTV oh ok 😁. U shouldnt doubt yourself
@@BuckcreekTV Car amps and subs are super easy to fit/ setup :)
The Gay knob?
Gain
Its not a gain knob its a bass knob that you have in the front. Setting the gain a quarter turn isnt how you set the gain. lol
2:59 😳😳😳😳😳
$600 for that lol
Yes?
Please don't use odd numbers on your radio please. I have EXTREMELY bad OCD and that will keep my up at night. Example, 12, 14, 16, 18 or 20 etc
