    If anyone was wondering why Kicker makes you cut the power wire, even though they pre-shrink the heat shrink and mark the spot to cut with a label. 99% of the time it's easier to lead the power cable through the firewall with the preinstalled lug, then after it reaches the battery the person installing can cut the wire. it's not a big deal there is no "Right" way whatever works -But- 99% of beginner installers will have a better experience passing the lug through the firewall before cutting for the fuse install. Cool video I'm sure it's helped lots of people.

    Great tut guys - super helpful! This is the exact install I'm planning except in a 2015 Land Rover Evoque. Question: How does one find the info/specs/diagram to find L+- and R+- speaker feeds in a convenient wire harness location for other makes and models? Appreciate your expertise.

      Thank you so much! This will sound great in your Land Rover, and we love to hear about it once installed. We would recommend jumping into a Land Rover forum and asking for the location and colors of the speaker wire. Hope you can find the solution!

    Perhaps a stupid question, but for those of us who have the upgraded Alpine audio system in their JL Wranglers but want more ‘boom', is it possible to hook this up to the existing wiring and subwoofer that’s arleady in the cargo area, or is this not a thing? I would like to upgrade the bass in my JL, but it’s a lease, so I want it to be simple to install and easy to remove (sans wiring) at the end of the lease.

    • @trailseven
      @trailseven  3 месяца назад

      @@iSowelu Not a stupid question at all. Yes and no.
      Yes, would have been able to operate simultaneously with the factory subwoofer. Using the same installation as shown, the factory sub is not interfered with and still functions.
      However, No, only because this particular set up is not available for the time being. Kicker is re-engineering the design to resolve overheating issues with the first batch.
      The solution, is our sun and mono amp bundle which connects to the factory radio and doesn’t require any cutting, splicing, or customizing. When connected per our bundle, the new sub is powered by a new mono amp all while leaving the factory sub operating as normal. You will result in 2 functioning subs.

    I thought Jeep provided "extra" or additional blank grommets on the firewall to pass wires due to the amount of additional powered accessories that are added to Jeeps? why drill if there is a blank grommet/plug already there?

    • @trailseven

      There is 1 large grommet which will need to be penetrated.

    I've got the 5in. Base radio in my Jeep, how do you handle the different speaker impedance? The stock radio will cut out the rear speakers or a sub from the rear speaker lines at 50% or higher volumes. Thanks for you informative video!

    • @trailseven
      @trailseven  Год назад

      Great question! We offer Kicker KS speaker pods as well which are 4ohm to replace the factory 2ohms but the pods are equipped with a single coaxial which doesn’t cause any interference. The Kicker sub terminated at the speaker wire doesn’t interfere either.

  • @TroutWest
    @TroutWest Год назад

    Wish you had an install on a Jeep Grand Cherokee wk2..do you think the stock wire you tapped into would be in the same spot?

    • @trailseven
      @trailseven  Год назад

      We wouldn’t be able to confirm that. You can tap into any OEM speaker wire location though. You would of course need to locate the grounding location as well as the path to the battery but the install is pretty universal for all vehicles. 😉

    • @trailseven

    I am having a hard time finding pictures or answers anywhere else. Will the 12" version of this still fit without interfering with the cargo cubby cover in the rear cargo area? Measurements from the Kicker website look like it should be fine, but wanted confirmation from internet strangers.

    Do you think this is a good setup or would it be better to buy sub and amp separate?

    • @trailseven
      @trailseven  Год назад

      That depends on if you’re planning on amplifying the speakers. If you’re wanting power to the speakers, you can add a 5-channel amp, power the speakers, and run 1 channel to a non-powered down firing sub. We’re building plug and play amp bundles of which 1 will include the 5 channel scenario.
