Thank you Patrik for working with us on this project and helping us tell the story of the ibex with beautiful footage. Oh and of course for having been a Mossy Earth member since 2018! Incredible and much appreciated my friend :D - Cheers, Duarte
Thank you so much for having me :) It was a pleasure to work alongside so many enthusiasts/professionals who share the same passion. Very much looking forward to our future adventures!
I really enjoyed this. I would love to see a longish video about the salamanders which look really interesting and are probably under videoed. I liked the music but on reflection think that I'd have learned more with only the natural sounds in the background, even grunts, the sound of hooves (or lack of sound of hooves) can be really informative about the animal species. There is clearly lots of potential for many more such videos in that one slope. Thank you Patrik. I hope this venture of yours is very successful.
Hi Patrick, very pleased to be your 40th subscriber, even more pleased that in the time it took me to watch and enjoy your other videos, that your subscription number had jumped to 75! I am sure that this will only increase exponentially as more other Mossy Earth viewers discover your wonderful videos for themselves. Looking forward to your future adventures. Love from Australia 🇦🇺🐨
Such a beautiful, relaxing, and educational video! I particularly loved the shot of the ibex scratching the back of his leg with his antler. A resourceful fellow!
Thank u patrik for such beautiful filming, found u from mossy earth (also member😊) and just binge watched ur videos. Hope u r able to keep showing us ur beautiful area. Thank u xx
Here from Mossy Earth 👋. I love how chill this video is, just letting us soak in the day to day life of the ibexes😌. Too many nature documentaries overdramatise animal life with bombastic music and a narrator constantly telling me that everything is life or death and dangerous and dramatic 😒. I prefer this 😌.
Welcome and thank you for your kind words. I agree, because I also prefer to watch videos that make me calm and feel conected with nature. I am glad that this preference is reflecting in my videos :)
Great video! I became aware of you through the video of Mossys Earth. One point in particular caught my attention: your father is very good at finding wild animals. As a geographer, I would like to do my own flora-fauna mapping in the future, so I am particularly interested in this. Is your father good at tracking wild animals or is he a hunter? What are his tips to learn this? I would appreciate some experiences and am eager to see more videos!
Thank you for your comment. Okay, this sounds interesting. Yes, he is pretty skilled at finding them. Not exactly on a biologist or some specialist level, but with some help of trail cams and my audio recordings, we manage to find most of the animals that we want. If you would like to know anything more specific, you can contact me privately and I am more than happy to help further :)
Excellent work! Could you tell me about the two cameras and lenses that you are using? If you like the fauna and flora of the Iberian Peninsula, I have my own RUclips channel!
Thank you. I just checked your RUclips channel, and you've got some really impressive footage :) In this video, we are using a Nikon Z6 and D500 with Sigma 70-200 Sport (plus 1.4x TC) and 150-600 Sport.
It's a very directional shotgun microphone. Generally speaking, the longer the interference tube is, more directional it is, thus reducing the sounds that are coming from the sides and the back of the mic. I used it in the mountains to isolate the sound of Ibex fighting and remove other sounds coming from birds, marmots or other hikers. I also used this big wind protection because it was very windy. Otherwise, the recording would be distorted and unusable.
@@PatrikInNature So what do you do with these recordings, do you sell them or do you just buy recordings for yourself? Is such a microphone really worth using for a long time or do you prefer to use it only for certain shots? How much does it benefit you in isolating ambient sounds and capturing exactly the sound you want without noise?
For now, I am just using them for myself. I include them in my videos etc. For general use, I always have the Sennheiser MKE 600 with me because it is compact and produces great sound. The Audio-Technica (that you see me use in the video) is used only when I know that I will need a longer microphone, which is about 25% of the time. It produces better results but is much longer and takes up a lot of space. The difference is very noticeable. If you compare for example the omnidirectional microphone with the Sennheiser shotgun, the difference in directionality is huge. The Audio-Technica is even more directional, but the difference isn't as big, so I decide for every filming if it is worth carrying it.
