I would love to see a mod for this game about the Independence War of Argentina/Uruguay/Paraguay/Chile. I think an Andes Campaign for San Martin or a Peruvian Campaign for Belgrano, or a Brasilian Campaign for Jose Artigas, could be a very very interesting theater for this game
Man I really look foward to playing this and I love the aesthetic of it! I think adding things like weather and seasons, all with their own effect on morale and unit effectiveness would be really cool. Also are you planning on adding more factions like sweden or Denmark? Keep up the great work!
Some really interesting ideas in the campaign that I haven't seen before! I have always wanted a strategy wargame like this with a historical but "random" or procedurally generated campaign, i.e one where you're not stuck fighting the same exact battles over and over again. I've always thought that a game with the combat system of the Ultimate General series + some sort of procedurally generated/infinitely replayable campaign would be perfect.
Looks awesome! I know you said you're going to do a combat dev log in the future but, I was wondering, if I engage an enemy force in mountains, will the battlefield be in the mountains, or if I engage an enemy force by a river, will the battlefield have a river on it?
This is exactly correct. I will be hand-crafting lots of maps for all different terrain combinations. The game reads the terrain data from the campaign and selects the most relevant map to fight on.
Make sure it isn’t all focused on Prussia. Not everyone hero-worships Frederick or thinks Prussia’s influence on Germany was positive. Frederick set Germany on the path to a Small Germany, two disastrous world wars and an even smaller Germany. Austria had very real strengths and innovations especially its light troops and excellent generals in Browne, Daun, Laudon, and Lacey. Daun fighting a genius to a standstill is more of an achievement than being a genius.
To be fair, an Austrian dominated Germany probably wouldn’t have been as centralized as one dominated by Prussia. In all likelihood the Habsburgs may very well have kept Germany the way it was. It took the Habsburgs losing the HRE to even unite their own empire, let alone Germany. German Nationalists also wouldn’t have been keen on all of the other ethnicities that would join, and would have preferred them to release their none German territory, which the Habsburgs would never accept. Not to say I disagree with giving the other factions their due, in fact the Austrians are what I am excited to play as the most myself.
Suggestion: feature to split troops on the strategic map, however you cant directly see those breakaway troops (as in, they use slow messengers to send you information) allowing for more random events and flanking strategies
Wow, cant wait to play the game, this game would be very cool too in a mediveal setting, or even ancient This game is like a combination of total war with bannerlord, really cool game, keep up the good work🙏
I think it would be cool to see war dlcs in the future like the American civil war or some other wars and also maybe add scouting units or have some kind of picket duty
This game sounds like my cup of tea I’m looking for a game that a desktop computer can handle it and isn’t so stressful to learn everything an juggle it all together
At the battle of Zorndorf (1758) Prussia fielded 193 cannon and Russia 136 cannon (both figures include battalion pieces) - present were 6pdr, 8pdr, 12pdr, 24pdr and also howitzers (source Osprey Campaign Series No.125)
PLS INCLUDE: DENMARK AND SWEDEN, maybe even a sort of Poland and some German states. I tell you if you put these factions this game will destroy the Total War games and CA
I like that we'll be able to control rank depth and whatnot, but will you make a feature that allows players to see where units with orders will stand once the orders are complete? I feel this is a feature necessary for line battles. Also will friendly fire be a thing? Looking forward to the game!
The Armchair Historian has made both a video and a stream on why they stopped, but the short answer is that it became too bogged down and buggy to develop without sinking more time than it was worth.
Looks very promising. After getting experience from two or three indie games I think you should try a complicated grand strategy game consisting state management, diplomacy, warfare and trade similar genre of Ultimate general series and total war series games
Question: will there be a button to show where you’ve ordered your troops? Total War, for instance, lets you see where your men are ordered to move when you hold down space which I find helpful for planning lines, will there be something like that in MoC battles?
my first impression is that this is a sort of Mount and Blade style campaign map, with Ultimate General: Civil War battles, which isn't a bad thing; i love both of those games, but i'm interested in how you'll differentiate yourself from them and how well it works together.
The interesting part is before Master Of Command, they were planning for a Mount and Blade style of game named as Free Company (previously codenamed "Project Coral"). The premise is that you control a mercenary company through the 1700s into Europe (and later on Asia and America). But they decided to shelf it until they get the budget needed, so as of now they're working on smaller titles like Master Of Command
Yes, we consulted with a Seven Years War historian. Commanders spaced troops out for all different purposes, like to mitigate artillery bombardment or to line troops up to conform with a certain terrain feature.
Question: will mountains block your vision if you're not on top of them in the future? They act like a natural barrier i think. Also really interested in the game good job!
The enemy composition was made up of a lot of heavy cavalry and my composition were recruits, so the AI judged it could probably deal some damage and was fine taking that fight. That said, we are constantly tinkering with strength evaluation to make sure the AI doesn't feel too passive and run constantly but also not make it charge into you when it barely has the troops.
I'll be honest, it sounds like campaings could quickly get repetitve, specially if the goal is always just go get to the enemy HQ and defeat it. It also feels bit FTL like with this settlement hopping
Hey, my 2c. Everything looks cool but one thing I personally dislike is the click and drag for custom unit width. That ruined NTW imho because it was always optimal to use long lines. I would prefer if you kept it like it was previously with formation buttons for line and column.
We are likely going to keep formation buttons, but we're also going to make it so that if you form extremely long lines your morale will tank. So it will be wise to keep a balance between how dense your ranks are. If they're too dense, you'll lack firepower. If they're too sparse, you'll lack morale!
Honestly I'm not a fan of locking content behind essentially a time barrier. Many people like me only have so much time and it basically means I don't have access to parts of a game I've already paid for. Sod that, just have it available to choose from the start. I know the last game you created had its issues but the thing that made me stop was when I opened it and discovered I couldn't just pick all of the factions from the start. I picked a couple, none of which were the ones I wanted, then stopped playing because that annoyed me so much. Please do not do this, how much stuff is locked like this will likely be the determining factor on whether I buy the game or not even though it looks very promising and right up my alley. That's what Steam achievements are for, a feeling of accomplishing something in the game without blocking a player's agency.

This game will make me stuck in my room for weeks

i like tha difference that your a commander and not a leader of a country, now im excited for this game, new sub!
I love this new real time system. Looking forwards for the next dev log!
Literally cannot wait for this
Love the battlebrothers map and ultimate general battle. Best of both worlds. Using what already works in a different setting. Genius
We need a dlc that contains other theaters of the war like india and north America
Maybe even the ability to do naval warfare
I agree
wow this is like napoleon total war but with logistics, so epic

I really believe first DLC will be about Great North War our War Spanish succession 😊
Any plans to add wounded animations
crazy good - the battle brothers model of campaign combined with ultiamt general style is very interesting
I Promised i will play this game!
Great Northern war DLC idea
Player Division should detach smaller units (like hussars) to scouts or to make a cavalry screen?
Thanks

I think the game is good, but artillery wasn’t widely used until the Napoleonic Wars, so Austria’s good artillery perk will not be too good.

I would like to see the cannons the next update.pls make it so the cannons bounce off the fround and hit a lot of enemy even after the first impact
Is your NTW style formation drawing historical: was their any evidence of drill to change depths of lines?
Yes, we consulted with a Seven Years War historian. Commanders spaced troops out for all different purposes, like to mitigate artillery bombardment or to line troops up to conform with a certain terrain feature.

How large can you get your armies so far?
When does this game release
E
Just a question, but will there be other events that impact your army? Like disease outbreaks or mutinies
Super minor thing but the icons show a percussion lock but flint locks were used
They're just placeholders, don't worry! :)
@@armchairhistoryinteractive2046 awesome to hear! im very excited for yalls game I wish yall the best of luck and im excited to play!

Did armies literally just plonk villagers into combat after recruiting them during this period? Or are we talking hiring mercenary units?
Are all the camps different?
9:57 Shouldnt the enemy troops that are clearly in a disadvantage retreat instead of charge at you?
