I too had this shifting hesitation at the rev limit. I requested the “auto shift tune” and it fixed the issue with the car just bouncing off the rev limiter like yours is. If I turn off tcs/vsc, the car will actually allow you to hit 7200rpm still in manual mode. Overall the car runs better with the auto shift tune. Still to this day makes me question why they set the tune to not properly shift while in auto mode. Seems like it’s kinda half assed IMO. Personally I do not think you should be forced to manually shift the car anytime you want to go WOT in auto mode.
Very true man that is exactly what I was thinking. he sent be both tunes I guess i just gotta put the other one one. When u mean Turn off tcs/vsc Do u men hold the traction button for 5 seconds when in park and it takes care of that?
Ordering mine this week can’t wait. Looks like you get the most potential in manual. Probably try and shift at 7100 so it compensates the slight shift lag so it can reach 7200. I have invidia full cat back with takeda cia but I’m worried about the cia since I hear the carbon rr tube intake pipe is better for the tune.
@@leojohnwayne1422 so i did get the tune with takeda still installed. and WOW! u can never go back to driving it in automatic again! 1 thing i did notice is that the heat from the engine melted the foam on the engine cover. not sure if its the heat when i down shift to hear the rev match.. took of the cover and seems to be fine.
What’s up bro! Good video, I get my rr racing tune this Saturday but I have been reading about a trans slip when you own the 8 speed going past 6800 rpm. Have you heard or seen anything about that?
hey bro just saw this comment. Transmission slip is just another name of the clutch plate disengaging and the car again using torque convertor to accelerate. There are no worries. It does that as a safety feature.
I have not tried the Auto Tune but this was RR response : "With the 7200 tune, you need to use paddle shifters to shift. You should not wait to hit the rev limiter. With the AS (autoshift) tune, it will shift normal, but then the rev will not be higher." So i am guessing you would still gain power but RPM will stay as current red line.
@@obieproduction4882 Yeah lol did you notice any big power / torque gains? Any mods by the way? I figured a tune would be a lot more helpful once you are already full bolt on for a Naturally Aspirated engine

promised around 20 HP and 15 TQ. RR racing has been in business for a while and large chunk of people are running this tune I am guessing it must be reliable. We just should not redline it daily and it should be fine.
You'll have no problems with the engine at the rev limit being increased to 7200 RPMs. Companies like Lotus have been increasing the rev limit of the 2GR engines to 7200 RPMs for the Lotus Evora for years without any issues. I can also vouch that my RR-Racing tune and engine has had no issues for over four years with the increase in RPMs both on the street and on the race track (lots of videos on my channel pushing the engine hard). Engine is perfectly fine with a rev limit of 7200 RPMs.
@@RedspencerIS350 If everything is fine, I just don't understand why they left it in drive mode shifting at 7200, in 3-4 gears slowly reaching the redistribution of revolutions is still bad for the engine torment
@@RedspencerIS350 I was wondering if Lotus engine uses stiffer Valve Springs. Usually that is what they recommend to go high RPM over redline so the Valve Float wont happen. Or maybe the lexus Just detunes the engine with programming and Valves are practically same as Lotus. Interesting.
@@obieproduction4882 To my understanding, the internals of the 2GR-FE are left stock on the Evora while the ECU is tuned for a higher rev limit. The Tune is worth it for sure. but most gains out of tune will be if you go Full bolt ons and then tune. Just getting a tune by itself will not do much.
