I installed this on my Lexus is250 2014. I got the unit from Aliexpress (its literally the same unit from every after market brand). The seller linked me to your video for installation help and it only took me a few hours. It's not hard if you follow this video step by step. I think it's updated to Android 14. It's been connecting to carplay wirelessly everytime I start up so far. I paid for the faster processor version, so everything is very fast. It's definitely a nice upgrade to have.
Did you upgrade due to problems with the stock screen? I got the same car and just started having the problem where my screen keeps restarting constantly
@@vicZKidstock screen would restart for me randomly as well. It’s a nice upgrade if you don’t mind spending the money to buy the unit. Installation may look intimidating but follow the video and you’ll be fine. Everything literally is plug and play.

I have a version from China which uses the OEM screen and has a computer I hid behind the dash. I noticed that sometimes the Bluetooth and CarPlay audio inputs interfere with each other - a tip to fix this is to connect CarPlay BT and WIFI then disconnect BT and let it run through WIFI only. Hope that helps
Also there are equalizer settings within the settings in android auto so you can get better sound through CarPlay without having to flip to original BT.

Thanks for watching. 1. Yes both wifi and Bluetooth to do Auto 2. It uses the speaker but quality depends if you using Aux or Bluetooth 3. I use OEM Bluetooth for calls because that's what I like but the unit comes with an aftermarket mic for calls 4. Most of the stuff is still the same from what I mentioned

You have to always switch to oem Bluetooth for the best quality. Aux quality isn’t too bad but I rather take better quality than hearing my notifications lol
This was an awesome vid. I have a 2014 IS 250 (base model). I found the version that would work for my car. However, my actual radio/nav unit I just found out needs to be replaced due to working intermittently. The actual radio/nav unit needs to be functional in order for this screen to work and be powered correctly, right? I assume that's the case because I saw that the Android system needs to be connected to the back of the factory radio unit...
Thank you for watching! Unfortunately yes the radio unit needs to be working. Since you're replacing it anyways maybe look into the 2017+ up unit swap instead. I think you can try to get the bigger screen, radio unit and some wire swap to make it work
Hey daniell, did u ever get this issue solved? I have a 2014 is250 and the radio only works intermittently as well. The backup camera works perfectly but the radio infotainment itself just keeps rebooting but then sometimes works normally.
I’m currently on the fence about either just installing CarPlay or aftermarket screen. After 3 years, have you notice any lag, overheating, it not working after driving over a small bump? I seen mix reviews and some getting faulty screens.
Tbh it's mostly work the same as from the video. It's not perfect. Once in a while I get "no input" screen but that solve quick by turn off-on my car. Overall it's good enough for what I need. The bigger screen is nicer to look at.

The rioja red for Lexus is more like a maroon red and not like bright BMW red. My friends has black and it's more of preference. I never had red seats plus I like the F sport styling.

Hi, so for the rear camera I mentioned how to fix that in the comments somewhere. Should be easy fix. For steering wheel controls it should work. I didn’t have an issue with mine. For Bluetooth, you have to leave your OEM source to Bluetooth then once connect to CarPlay switch source back to OEM Bluetooth on your Phone

I don’t have anything android but it would be the same thing. Android auto comes from your phone. Google maps and Spotify works like iPhone with how it plays and connects. RUclips will play audio form phone but if you want to watch it you would have to enable hotspot from phone to connect to screen unit to have internet connection
Can you do app with video streaming sports and movies. Using apps like Netflix, RUclips, and NBA League Pass app? If so, can i also streaming while driving?

If you had Android 10, were you able to update to Android 12 or later (13) recently ? I have heard that some of these screens tend to slow down in performance over time; heating up. Do you not have any audio or visual on the screen? First you should the fuse or amp to make sure that’s the thing is broken. If those are fine then most like the head unit and only two option is to send the motherboard to get fix or replace the head unit

Hi, IS is a good car. The reverse camera work just fine no issue. There is no codes or anything. This install basically replace display nothing hardware from oem.

@@designstudioaid4165 I went through hell installing this same aftermarket system in my IS. My steering wheel buttons worked for like volume up, but not down or track skip. There's just a dozen details about this that make the whole experience feel crappy. I had to open a paypal dispute to send the thing back to China. Completely garbage experience. These engineers are too dumb to make an OEM like experience.
To be fair it's not perfect. The units are similar but there's so many companies that tweak or build it to how they like it. I know people who had hella problems and people who don't have any issue so it's just a gamble
I just recently installed this in a Lexus, connected to the android auto Bluetooth and I’m not getting any sound through the factory stereo. I have the factory stereo settings on aux. I’m only able to use the factory Bluetooth to hear audio. I’ve connected every cable and double checked everything…is there something I’m missing?
This looks like a great solution, but since it's now touch capable but waaay too far back when you're driving and better in...does any company make some sort of bracket that brings the screen closer to the front of the dash more like the '21+ refresh screen? I know the cable would be an issue (as well as covering the part where the screen used to be) but it seems like someone could make a decent looking bracket that also has a small channel for the cable. Lemme know, maybe I have a new business idea?😂
I enjoyed the video. It's hard to understand English because I'm a Korean ^^ 2014 IS250 and Mark Levinson audio model. Bluetooth sound quality is very good in the car's factory. If I install an Android product, I'm curious about the sound quality. If it's worse than the factory, it's a bad choice and can I use navigation mirroring? Can I see the screen typed on my phone on the Android screen?

Just have to switch to Lexus Bluetooth when your are playing and not Android Bluetooth. For mirroring, I have wireless so I can’t do it but probably the Wired version
Did you do this because your radio stopped working? Mine has the no radio, no nav, and black screen. Back up cam works in reverse. I want to do this but I’m scared it still won’t work even if it’s a new one.
@@Kanbo11 not for the radio but it still makes sounds for the a/c controls. I’ve checked all fuses so it has to be an issue within the stock head unit for the radio itself. I think it being right above the heat vents and also being in direct sunlight that it makes the unit overheat causing most of the defect but I could be wrong. I’m just ready to have a radio again😭😭
@@Kanbo11 yeah I’m going to replace it and try to fix the original incase the issue happens again. I’ve read reviews where the glitch even happens with aftermarket radios after some time. I’m going to protect it from the heat and see how it helps the longevity for the replacement. How has your aftermarket been holding up? Any issues?

I purchased one through amazon and the only issue I'm currently having I cant hear waze through my system. Theirs many other features they include which is unnecessary. But I like the bigger screen and waze that's all I needed
I would contact the company you purchased from and asked for an update. There isn’t a place to get updates. Most of these unit are similar beside they put their own software in it
installed mine watching your video but still asked the aliexpress person for instructions they sent me a link to your video lmaooo anyway, everything works great but one little thing that I would call a first world problem: if I am using carplay and playing audio/music through carplay my steering wheel controls (nor the main head unit controls) don't work if I use Bluetooth for music, controls works but I don't get audio from the navigation app in carplay lol not a huge deal but wondering if anyone has figured out a setting somewhere

Hi there. I have the same set up. I just installed it. But I still get the sound from my factory radio. Whenever I connect to CarPlay I can’t hear any sound. I hear the OEM radio playing. Do you know what did I do wrong? Thanks.
Make sure you're in Aux mode before connecting to Carplay then when connect go on your phone and make sure your audio source is on the Carplay module. My case it's named Lexus EA......blah blah
Hey did you have any issues with the camera ? Every time i put it into back up camera it goes to like the OEM map navigation screen not the back up camera not sure what i can do to fix it
I can't get mine working for anything... Click on aux does nothing (it won't select into that mode). Steering wheel controls will not change the mode. Only bluetooth seems to work on OEM mode. Also, the oem OS gets really laggy temporarily. Such a nice screen, but the experiance couldn't be more garbage :(
i got one for my 2019 is300 f, while installing i noticed that the cable that connects to the display (lvds cable i think?) doesn't fit into the new screen. As in it's an entirely differently connector. DOes anyone have this issue and have maybe figured out what the adapter for it is called? or am i just SoL

@kingsaul2871 so sorry to say but it’s probably your head unit going out. Common issues with our cars. Only way is to find used replacements with the same model or sent out the board to company to fix it

It's still holding up fine. Same issues I mention in the video but nothing new. Reverse works. Just have to change certain settings that I mentioned in another person comments. Quality isn't bad. I wanted Carplay and Bigger screen and that's what I got lol. Sorry if that didn't make sense

Yea because the Lexus software is only design to a certain dimension. The unit only copy it and display it to the screen

I have a different module for car play off of ebay but mine does also make you manually switch to lexus is under bluetooth speaker option.
You only switch if you don’t want to use CarPlay audio.

A couple of settings in the Backup settings or sometime the yellow rca cable label is mix up so just swap them and it’ll work

Yessir it is! Rioja Red comes with F Sport model only but worth it.

Hi there. How is the screen quality? As far as I can see is not the best almost same as the original. What's ur opinion?
The screen itself is almost the same. I put an anti glare screen protector on it so it looks different from most. But no issues so far
Did it come with a new trim piece for the dash? The trim that goes below the screen doesn’t fit.
It came with a new trim. Looks almost like it just little bit different
Since the installation, have you experienced any parasitic draws after installation or while owning the Android unit?

I have installed it man! And your turtorial helped me put a lot. I’ve been liking it so far! Just one question, I get no audio coming out in the “andriod system” or whatever it is. You need to use the audio cable to connect to the aux input in the console to get audio

Hi, so for the rear camera I mentioned how to fix that in the comments somewhere. Should be easy fix. For steering wheel controls it should work. I didn’t have an issue with mine. For Bluetooth, you have to leave your OEM source to Bluetooth then once connect to CarPlay switch source back to OEM Bluetooth on your Phone

I don’t have anything android but it would be the same thing. Android auto comes from your phone. Google maps and Spotify works like iPhone with how it plays and connects. RUclips will play audio form phone but if you want to watch it you would have to enable hotspot from phone to connect to screen unit to have internet connection

Yes you can. I think you click on factory setting multiple times and password is 666666. There should be more settings to change

You can do RUclips but you would have to connect your hotspot to the unit. The other apps idk because I never used them

Do you not have any audio or visual on the screen? First you should the fuse or amp to make sure that’s the thing is broken. If those are fine then most like the head unit and only two option is to send the motherboard to get fix or replace the head unit

Hi, IS is a good car. The reverse camera work just fine no issue. There is no codes or anything. This install basically replace display nothing hardware from oem.
Since fitting this great 10inch screen my locking /unlocking is delayed by 1 to 3 seconds, any idea if there is a solution to this issue?

@@designstudioaid4165 I went through hell installing this same aftermarket system in my IS. My steering wheel buttons worked for like volume up, but not down or track skip. There's just a dozen details about this that make the whole experience feel crappy. I had to open a paypal dispute to send the thing back to China. Completely garbage experience. These engineers are too dumb to make an OEM like experience.
To be fair it's not perfect. The units are similar but there's so many companies that tweak or build it to how they like it. I know people who had hella problems and people who don't have any issue so it's just a gamble

I just recently installed this in a Lexus, connected to the android auto Bluetooth and I’m not getting any sound through the factory stereo. I have the factory stereo settings on aux. I’m only able to use the factory Bluetooth to hear audio. I’ve connected every cable and double checked everything…is there something I’m missing?
Make sure your audio source on your phone is like on "localhost" or something similar when fully connect to Carplay/android.

This looks like a great solution, but since it's now touch capable but waaay too far back when you're driving and better in...does any company make some sort of bracket that brings the screen closer to the front of the dash more like the '21+ refresh screen? I know the cable would be an issue (as well as covering the part where the screen used to be) but it seems like someone could make a decent looking bracket that also has a small channel for the cable. Lemme know, maybe I have a new business idea?😂

If I install an Android product, I'm curious about the sound quality. If it's worse than the factory, it's a bad choice and can I use navigation mirroring? Can I see the screen typed on my phone on the Android screen?

Just have to switch to Lexus Bluetooth when your are playing and not Android Bluetooth. For mirroring, I have wireless so I can’t do it but probably the Wired version

Did you do this because your radio stopped working? Mine has the no radio, no nav, and black screen. Back up cam works in reverse. I want to do this but I’m scared it still won’t work even if it’s a new one.

@@Kanbo11 not for the radio but it still makes sounds for the a/c controls. I’ve checked all fuses so it has to be an issue within the stock head unit for the radio itself. I think it being right above the heat vents and also being in direct sunlight that it makes the unit overheat causing most of the defect but I could be wrong. I’m just ready to have a radio again😭😭
Yea our cars known to have radio head unit issue. 1. You can replace it 2. Replace with another used unit 3.get the motherboard repair
@@Kanbo11 yeah I’m going to replace it and try to fix the original incase the issue happens again. I’ve read reviews where the glitch even happens with aftermarket radios after some time. I’m going to protect it from the heat and see how it helps the longevity for the replacement. How has your aftermarket been holding up? Any issues?

Switch audio source on your phone too. Or make sure your on aux mode on your car
I purchased one through amazon and the only issue I'm currently having I cant hear waze through my system. Theirs many other features they include which is unnecessary. But I like the bigger screen and waze that's all I needed
If you want to hear Waze talk then leave your radio mode to Aux mode. Once CarPlay connect you should be able to hear it

Yes I do it all the time. Only thing is maps notifications won’t come through the speakers on CarPlay. Only maps on phone

It's not bad quality. It can stretch somewhat easily so I cut up a screen protector on it and it's been fine so far

Tbh for me I only use CarPlay for maps and screen but I still play audio through Bluetooth because it sounds better
I wanted to follow up on this. on my unit, I was able to go into settings and set up the steering wheel controls for carplay by using "key learning" and setting up previous and next keys accordingly

Make sure you're in Aux mode before connecting to Carplay then when connect go on your phone and make sure your audio source is on the Carplay module. My case it's named Lexus EA......blah blah

I can't get mine working for anything... Click on aux does nothing (it won't select into that mode). Steering wheel controls will not change the mode. Only bluetooth seems to work on OEM mode. Also, the oem OS gets really laggy temporarily. Such a nice screen, but the experiance couldn't be more garbage :(

i got one for my 2019 is300 f, while installing i noticed that the cable that connects to the display (lvds cable i think?) doesn't fit into the new screen. As in it's an entirely differently connector. DOes anyone have this issue and have maybe figured out what the adapter for it is called? or am i just SoL
Make sure with the company you bought it from gave you the right cable/harness for you car

@kingsaul2871 so sorry to say but it’s probably your head unit going out. Common issues with our cars. Only way is to find used replacements with the same model or sent out the board to company to fix it

You have to switch your audio source to Aux mode if you want to play through CarPlay

It's still holding up fine. Same issues I mention in the video but nothing new. Reverse works. Just have to change certain settings that I mentioned in another person comments. Quality isn't bad. I wanted Carplay and Bigger screen and that's what I got lol. Sorry if that didn't make sense

@@Kanbo11 the seller told me If I replace the original camera will make it higher quality and fast responsive that’s because the original camera has low resolution. I’m not sure if it works or not
