@@ewengillies9826 The closest we have here in Australia is the RUclips channel 'Scotty Goes Walkabout', but he speaks a fair bit more than Erik does...
Erik used to be a school teacher - This somewhat explains his clear and concise method of communicating that makes everything he says incredibly interesting...
Right now I am hiking on the Hindu Kush Mountains a have been 6 hours late due to eye floaters problem. Hiking between Kujudoke any Tushi game reserve. Now I am hearing wolves sound and safe under juniper 🌲 and shahbaloot words are burning near me. A right on signals approach I received notification of this video and enjoying it on mountain 🏔️ trail at the elevation of 4500 meters.
These skates with the Rottefella BC binding are unfortunately hard to find outside Sweden. But got a pair a few weeks ago, but now it's 12C, raining and due to new lockdown the iceskating venue is closed as well. So Erik, your videos and especially this one are most welcome these days!
A great insight into the world of skating on natural ice. The frozen wastes, the tree line, the skate track marks and the focus on the burning fire invite us to 'see' rather than simply to be passive viewers of video footage. The ice song is so mysterious and other-worldly. Thank you 🙏
I found it very interesting learning about Nordic ice skates. I live in upstate New York and growing up I only used figure skates, but I would have liked to have learned to use the Nordic skates. Thank you for sharing this information. It was fascinating to watch you glid across the lake!
Very refreshing to see an outdoor/bushcraft YT- God who doesn’t use a bowdrill, and not even a ferrero rod to light a fire 👏🏻 Have to join the other groopies here, who liked this video! It looks so satisfying to skate away on that icy lake!
You had that large expanse of ice all to yourself! I was surprised not seeing another person. What wonderful freedom to skate that large area alone. Thank you for the interesting info on those blades and equipment. 👍
Those are ice picks and you're absolutely right that they are important to carry when walking on ice. I have a pair like yours that I always carry when I'm ice fishing here in New England.
Herlig film Erik. DK får aldrig sne mere - eller frost. Så der er ikke meget vinter - kun 4 x november efterhånden. Så dejligt at se vinter med frost i dine film. Tak for at du laver dem. Kh Torben
Our water here in Maine is still too soft to skate on, but that is changing, single digits F tonight, so the small ponds will stiffen up. Looking forward to some smooth black ice.
On top of the things mentioned by Erik, it's recommended to take dry spare clothes with you in a dry-bag, safety rope and most importantly, do not go alone.
Thank you Eric for everything you offer. I love your wisdom and your silent strength, it's calming ❣You bring peace to my mind when I need it 🎎Keep capturing those beautiful moments and landscapes😊
We have a icescating event called elevencittytour. Its 220km long en you have to make it in a day. It can only be organised in strong winters, last time is as long as 23 years ago.
Thanks for sharing Erik, safety equip. : ice claws/ safety ice picks worn around neck, long ice pick pole/rod with spear point , to check ice thickness and in case breaking in- a support getting out of icy waters. ( ( ice-)pike means "gädda" ) Learnt new stuff -nice to hear you explaining about wild ice skating.
I feel it every time I watch the video, the nature where you live is really beautiful, and your video seems to capture that beauty well. I always appreciate the video. Always be careful in pandemic situations.
I have never seen skates like that. I’m impressed ! You really fly across the ice I love when you film from your point of view...I felt like I was skating this time It looks like you’ve played hockey Great explanation of the skates...well done Take care 🇨🇦 🎄
Strange you havent seen them in Canada, I always thought that we hade the same winter hobbies here in Sweden as you Canadians. You might have a business opportunity in introducing Long distance ice skates :) Merry Christmas from your nordic cousins 🇸🇪 🇨🇦 🎄

What an incredibly product, the seamless merging of a hiking boot, a ski binding and an ice blade! 🤯 Fascinating, I only wish I lived somewhere where owning a pair would be useful as I love to hike, ski and skate.
For me all your uploads and vids long or short ones are welcome to watch. I guess its important for you to balance filming/working and still enjoying your adventures= devices off mode. Interesting record. Watch it. Cheers and reflective and quiet holidays to all.
Those ice skates look like a lot of fun. Rather limited usage though. You sure covered a lot of ground, er, I mean ice, in a short amount of time. Excellent video as usual Erik! Thanks for explaining them. And, of course, thanks for sharing.
Wow what an amazing experience that must be. I could'nt possibly imagine a more peaceful day. So beatiful with that overcast weather condition turning everything into a more or less monochrome landscape. Some good filming there too Erik.
I'm a big fan of the Silent bushcraft thing, but when I watch Eriks' videos I can't wait for him to speak.

In a quiet and beautiful snow scene, when he stops skating, the sound is very cool.
“You have to catch the opportunity when it comes” and “it’s a bit special “. Like you, Erik!
You take coffee outside to the next level. Plus you can skate, ski, film. What a talent.
the amount of coffee is certainly next level ;-)
