As I pilot, I can confirm that the first course of action in this scenario is for the pilot to whip their phone out and start recording
Edit: yes, I understand that this is probably a glider with a built-in motor and that there is no issue. There’s this thing called a joke. Also, to everybody saying “this isn’t the pilot filming, the pilot sits in the right seat!” You’re absolutely wrong :) Unless it is a helicopter, pilot sits on the left.

@@Shawnix86 ah but stalling is not the same as a car. A stall in a PLANE is when the wings don't produce lift, so if your airspeed is below like 40 knots in a plane like that, the plane literally falls to the sky. In a car, it's when the engine cuts out, in a plane, it's when the wings stop producing lift. Let me know if I can answer any more aviation related questions hahaha

Engine out practice for training purposes is normally done with the engine running near idle, at a prop RPM that simulates zero thrust. NOT by actually shutting down the engine. Perhaps doing this at altitude, and near an uncontrolled field would be doable (airshow performers do it), you just want to make damn sure to follow Dirty Harry's advice...

This video, designed to make everyone think they are in trouble. This is standard Aviation Pilot training. This is a training scenario folks. All good nothing new here. A quick look at the guages shows the Altimeter at 4,950ft. the "Ball" or turn & slip indicator show a very gentle right turn, the VSI shows a negative speed of roughly 250ft per min. at an Air speed of 60 knots or roughly 70mph. In other words they are gently cruising along at just below 5k ft. slowly descending in a very large gradual turn designed to keep up their airspeed just enough as not to induce a stall. All while calmly explaining the reasons for doing so and the actions to take incase this scenario was to happen. Besides like the head pilot said "It's pretty" nice view outside and calm no engine noise just the wind... Sweet!

Pilot training? We all practice dead stick flight and landings. Variable pitch propellers do reduce drag and improve glide slope. And you would be surprised how long you can stay airborne if you find the right thermals and know how to catch them correctly.

I've heard that in those cases you pretty much just set the prop pitch so that the blades are causing the least drag and glide as much as you can to (ideally) the nearest airstrip or failing that, the flattest and longest bit of field you can find. Any pilots out there care to correct me where I might be wrong? I'd be glad to know what the ACTUAL correct thing to do is, since I'm pretty sure the info I have was from WWII bombers.
