There's something so nice about this format because there's an intimacy here. It's basically Martha and the viewer. And she has such infectious enthusiasm.

Admittedly, I was so lazy. I did not butter and flour my pound cake pans beforehand, and just put the “classic” pound cake batter into 2 of them - they were cast iron loaf pans, very heavy! And the cakes came out perfectly! Maybe Martha can try cast iron here (?) - the “classic” pound cake batter has so much butter in it so it should work, perfectly (?)
Really wish this was answered! She didn't prep the loaf pans for the cream cheese either! I want to make it but I don't want a flop, so hopefully she will answer soon! 🍞😋
@@nikkilovesrocks I checked other cream cheese pound cake recipes on the internet and they do not use a leavener either. Actually back in the day my mother and grandmother did not use baking powder in their classic pound cake recipe. Their pound cakes were very dense and heavy. So I would say your cake will be a success with or without the leavener.

I think a cross of a sponge and a pound, the heaviness with flexibility. Thank You for reminding me... I think I will keep searching for a recipe. The first pound cake (American poundcake) has one pound of butter listed in the ingredients but you only add 3 sticks of butter to the mix. I went back and watched it again and I didn't miss anything so I'm wondering if a pound of butter equals 4 sticks why did the recipe have 3? You said the American pound cake was a pound of flour, a pound of sugar, a pound of butter and a pound of eggs.
Why is this not pinned??? I had to search through so many compliments/comments! There isn't any levering in the cream cheese lb. cake & the pans were not prepped i think. I am so confused! Looks fantastically delicious though! 😩
Hi i notice you are using regular sugar but if i will put in my pound cake swerve sweetner will it taste different is it preferable to put regular sugar and if so can i use less of it also can i use two eggs instead of 4 or 5
