Who is Dr. Ergin? Dr. Ahmet Ergin is an endocrinologist with a particular interest and passion for diabetes care. Dr. Ergin earned his medical degree with honors at Marmara University School of Medicine in Istanbul, Turkey. Then, he completed his internal medicine residency and endocrinology fellowship at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. metformin (dimethylbiguanide) is derived / based on a traditional plant based European diabetic treatment - Goat's Rue (Galega officinalis). Metformin and Goat's Rue active ingredient is guanidine, which lower blood glucose levels.

I fond your bidets very helpful and informative in helping me manage my diabetes type 2. Unfortunately, I am dealing with CKD, stage 3 as well. My kidney doctor suggested I come off Metformin because of my CKD. My primary replaced the Metformin with Glipizide. 5 mg. Is that a good recommendation?

@@SugarMDs I have been on 5 different medications for diabetes and every one of them. I've had some adverse side effects the other day. I took my glimmer ride and I had a low blood sugar episode and ever since then I've not been feeling that great I've had aki muscles. My joints hurt and I've also been on the philippine and I felt dizzy yesterday so I'm wondering if. I? Could? Just get your blood. Sugar? Support and your blood pressure support? And see that helps instead because it doesn't not be unmeasured at all if I could help it.

You are the best! I bought your Super Berberine. My doctor had earlier prescribed Gliclazide a few weeks before I bought your Super Berberine. Your brilliant video above didn't mention Gliclazide - whether it is good or not or whether it can be combined with your Super Berberine. I have decided to discontinue using the Gliclazide and concentrate only on your very good Super Berberine. I hope it is a right decision. May I know your advice. Appreciate this. My doc wanted me on Jardiance, however with insurance it was over $400 for a refill. 😔 I noticed a dizziness with it too...& read my blood pressure meds might havs contraindications.
I got on jardiance and that was a side effect, the dizziness, but it went away after a few months, no other effects after that!👍

I was on Jardience for a couple of years, when all of a sudden, I got 3 yeast infections in 3 mos. Had to quit taking it immediately because of serious danger. Read the side effects of taking it.

By itself won’t do much. Herbs do work when in high concentrations and mixed together. It is a whole different science.
I was on different diabetes medications for around 20 years - just to find out later that I had high cortisol problems which also was increasing the blood glucose level. But none of the doctors that was prescribing diabetes pills cared enough to perform real diagnosis.

Would they ever keep pts on DDP-4 and have them on Ozempic as well ? They added 1mg ozempic and never addressed the DDP4 ?
Hi Doctor,. My postprandial glucose levels is very high afte lunch. The readings are always more than 15 to 26+ depends on what I ate. Then it will drop in the night says 9 to 10pm.
The fbs with range from 8 to 10+. I am on gliclazide Mr 60 mg, once s day. What supplement shall I take. Thanks Doctor.

Hey doc I was wondering if you have heard of a new diabetic supplement on the market called glucofort and have you looked into it and have reviewed it or researched it and what are your thoughts and professional opinion on it is it a viable option for diabetics and and does or will it work would like you answer on this
prescribed metformin, glycoside, no finger sticks required. when told metformin side effects intolerable said one gets used to them. Before having septic shock diabetes controlled well by diet and MD who retired said did not need meds So with new MD got prescribed the meds So have decided to wing it by diet again. Septic shock very bad - almost bought the farm--ICU/hospital 1 month. Hard to change MD 'cause MDs here overloaded--Covid.. Thanks for your videos as they are very informative

I think I need a good endocrinologist. My PC dr took me off of glimepiride and left me only on metformin. Now my fasting numbers are between 155 and 190. I am so worried. He wants me to do this for several months and then doing an A1C. The glimepiride kept me at 90-110 fasting. This is nuts.
Is kids diabetic diferent then adults
My husband is taking Levemir insulin 8 units sq twice a day - any information about this med, long term effects, etc
He cannot take metformin, glipizide, ozempic, jardiance, Lantus insulin, acarbose,etc.
This is so far the only med that seems to be helping. Don’t know much information about it and don’t know anyone else on it. Thank you.
L only take insulin I had to stop Metformin because inconjuction with my Rebif it was keeping my liver enzymes high.

Yes just monitor blood sugars more often. GlipiZide can cause low blood sugar while taking other meds or supplements.
First I have heard of an insulin inhaler. Very interesting for me especially since I’m a type one but still making some insulin. Mostly keeping my sugar under control by removing almost all sugars an having less than 30 carbs per day.

Doc, VERY informative. HOWEVER what about people who take metformin but the sugar sits at 7-11 and mass muscle loss. How does a person gain back the muscle, and is Berberine gonna work in this case
No berberine will not induce muscle gain
In the same boat with muscle loss. From what i've read,it seems lifting weights and exercise is the only way to regain muscle

Hi doc.. very informative I m taking (. Metformin 500 mg + 1 mg glimpride) one tablet every day since 2 years . My blood sugar is ok. Is that ok? What’s your suggestion. Bcos I gained weight.
Glimepiride can slowly kill your beta cells. There is data for that. It saves the day but not good for long term.

can a person with third stage kidney disease take it. (metformin). My Dr. has me on glimepiride 4 mg twice a day.
No metformin can’t be taken at stage 4 kidney disease

I have the same tendency…. Go walk or do something else physical right after eating…. The sleepiness won’t kick in.
That’s due to insulin resistance.

I am still making some insulin … auto immune disease took out thyroid function now beta cells….low c peptide test. Was originally told I was a type two… now am told I’m a type one. ???? I would like to know all I can about my diabetes??? 0ld athletes die hard. When I do 42 hour fasts I can get my blood sugar into the 80’s … eating mostly meat and fish eggs cheese one green per meal ( one or two meals per day in a 4 hr window ) … I don’t spike over 150 most days. Morning sugar usually in the 105 to 115 range. My GP a year ago did the first evaluations then when I went to a diabetes specialist… “ sorry you’re a type one”. I’m very proactive in managing this via diet and exercise not taking insulin yet . … as long as I can keep my sugars down I plan to only visit my GP twice a year. The specialist wanted a CGM in for about 3800 dollars. I can prick my fingers and keep a daily notebook for that price.
Wish I could find a specialist who would really help ….can you recommend anyone in NH? …or Eastern Massachusetts.

I am in the 1% who are constipated from Metformin. It is uncomfortable, but it has resolved the post gallbladder "leaking" from the colon. 😂 To manage the constipation, I am pushing water, activity and consuming more salt which appears to be helping.

Simply eat more fiber and drink 2 or three liters of water per day. Large green salads and servings of fruit will solve that problem.
