      These sticks shouldn't be in the same conversaton as 8BitDo's hall effects, they may share technology, but there is little to nothing comparable in terms of how much more tweaked and quality-feeling that they are. For those who have one, how are the adaptive triggers and haptic? On par, less than or more than in effect compared to the stock dualsense or dualsense edge.
    I have the DS edge, but I do miss the fluidity of at least 4 rear buttons.

    I’ve never bought a custom 3rd party controller before, I always knew about them since the ps3/360 era but now we have controller companies that can produce a better product than the 1st party product.
    I’ve already bought 3 sony controllers in the past 2 years because of stick drift, I don’t throw my controllers, I don’t bend and try to break them, They simply fall from my lap or off my table once or twice and get stick drift.
    I’ve had a ps4 controller fall from a 2ft high bed, onto a carpet floor and get stick drift.
    A dualsense edge controller costs $304 CAD with tax, the hex phantom costs $375 CAD with tax.
    The modules sony sell for the edge are not sold in pairs from what im aware of, They make you spend like $20-$30 on a single joystick separately from the $304 they already make off the controller alone.
    So realistically your paying $360 for an edge of you want a pair of backup sticks that you KNOW your going to need anyways right?
    So why not spend the extra $10 on this hex phantom, These are the best Hall effect controllers on the market apparently and you don’t have to worry about stick drift again ( hence saving you from needing to buy modules ) kinda sounds like a no brainer investment in my opinion.
    Sony has chosen to go the greedy route and I’m not here for it, Vote with your wallet guys if you expect companies to respect you.
    When my phantom arrives il be able to tell you if it lives up to what it claims.
    Godbless and sorry for this long comment.

Now the question is whether it’s worth about $200 more…thanks for the review!

      @GameTechTalk  Месяц назад

      Hey Tyler! Didn't know you picked that one up. Yes, I have that too (circularity) but much like you, these sticks feel on a league of their own despite that. And that's where I find that this solution is unique in itself. I feel like everything is a reflection of me, and that includes the "human error" element. As in, our thumbs probably move different from one hand to another, especially asymmetrical players (don't know for you, I am one usually).
      I get your point too with the Vader 4 Pro. For me, the thing with HexGaming is how it enables me to have this both on PC and PS5 AND to retain the excellent features (on top of adding more) such as haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. I am currently testing the P5Mate for example, a tool that lets you bring any controller (allegedly) and keyboard + mouse to PS5 and so far, it's not working with both Apex 4 and Vader 4 Pro... I like that this solution is just a "no questions asked" and just works everywhere I need it to but yup, it's not cheap, that's for sure! Thanks for your comments, let me know what you decide in the following days/weeks. It's been a gamechanger for me but it's got a high price of entry!

      @GameTechTalk  22 дня назад

      @@AbenayanKetheeswaran-y2u I prefer the HexGaming, as for software customization, it does not. The thing with the Phantom is it's built on top of a pre-existing Dualsense so if there was software, it would have to be Sony's basically but they only have it for the Edge. As for back paddles, I like that they are wide and mechanical buttons, very satisfying to click and the travel distance makes them unlikely to push by mistake. I can't speak highly enough of the HexGaming controller to be honest, it's SO GOOD!
      Edit: Ergonomics feels very 1:1 to an actual Sony Dualsense controller, the differences are impactful enough for useability but they do not drastically change the feel. And for transmission speed, 1st party controllers are best so HexGaming keep it as reliable in that department too.

    I just learnt about xbox controller chatpad recently and I been trying to look for a third party controller that's compatible with them. I wonder if this one can use the xbox 360 controller chatpad since it has an earphone jack in the middle like that. I need it for BDO on PC since the steam on screen keyboard doesn't work with the game so looking for a good solution for it. the search for a telescopic controller is kinda on hold right now. I was considering to get a telescopic controller to stuck an air remote with keyboard in the middle lol but idk might not be very good. some air remote even have a touchpad but the quality of their keyboard are often very bad.
    edit: actually there's also a chatpad for ps5 controller. if the shape of this is similar to ps5 controller it would be insane

    • @GameTechTalk
      @GameTechTalk  2 месяца назад

      The HexGaming Phantom fits the official dock but the thickness in the upper back (though completely easily to not even realize is indeed slightly thicker. I do not have the PS5 chat pad but I know about the 360 one, in fact, I probably have one of those deep deep DEEEEEEP into boxes, far too deep for my to reach at this point in time unfortunately but I doubt it would work.
      However, the chatpad for PS5 (didn't know that was a thing) is very likely to work with the Phantom, seeing as they can work with the official dock, that is unless the chat pad really goes up in the back of the controller.
      I hope this helps somehow. Cheers!

    Hi,
    How does this controller stand against the edge. Could anyone explain in a bit detail. I'm looking for a controller that works on pc and ps5 and preferably have adaptive triggers as well as hair triggers for fps. So far these are the 2 that I am thinking. Also are the haptics same as the OG DS. And do they work exactly the same in supported games on pc
    Thanks in advance.

    • @GameTechTalk
      @GameTechTalk  Месяц назад

      The haptics are identical and work exactly the same. Think of the HexGaming Phantom as a Dualsense with extra frosting on top to make it even sweeter! As for Edge vs Phantom, I like my Phantom better but that can become very subjective. The Phantom has better hair triggers, they feel like buttons rather than software-corrected, distance-altered, ones. It has 4 back buttons rather than 2, I also prefer the microswitch feel better than the tactile ones on the Edge.
      The Edge has extra software that the Phantom doesn't, it's only advantage over it in my personal opinion. There is much more I could add but at this point, it becomes a lot to type. I recommend watching both videos I did on the Phantom, it is all in there and why. Cheers!

      Is Can Am still made/designed by Bombardier in Valcourt? Even if they aren't, I'm pretty sure they're still a Canadian company. I've never been one to buy an inferior product just because it's made in my state or in the US. I'm patriotic; but, I'm not a clown. However if a product is otherwise as good as its competitors then the place of manufacture will absolutely sway my decision. Since there is no permanent software calibration for the edge. They are using calibration PCB that ad a minor delay. And then have the extra calibration tool affect it. Only to come out with poor symmetry. A say ehh. To much $$$ for what can be done for pennies.

    Upcharging for Hall Effect is the most devious thing these companies are doing. This technology is not only incredibly old but also very cheap to make. Stop falling for this as a premium feature when it exists on controllers that cost $30.

    • @GameTechTalk
      @GameTechTalk  2 месяца назад

      I won't disagree with you because I am aware of the exact same info as you are. However, one could definitely argue that what you get here is definitely more than just the hall-effect module. You also get that little tool to program and that ought to be worth something, maybe not 20$ but you can't argue that they don't just put hall-effect, they also go one step further.

  • @chemislife
    @chemislife 2 месяца назад

    TMR and Hall Effect are both electromagnetic sensors, but they are not the same. Don't make these claims.

    • @GameTechTalk
      @GameTechTalk  2 месяца назад +1

      I did not illustrate my words efficiently, I'll apologize for that. By "the same", I meant exactly what you said. They both rely on a magnet and a sensor to get their readings.
      TMR being a buzzword to me is in the sense that Hall-Effect could've easily been called Hall-Effect V2, an improved variant to a now tried and true solution. But I don't decide how the tech is going to be called, I just mean to simplify the explanation for someone wanting to understand without getting lost in the jargon that TMR will provide everything hall-effect will with more on top of it. Because otherwise, people could think: "Oh well I don't want TMR, I want hall-effect because it doesn't drift". Do you see how my intentions are good now?
      In that sense, they are in fact the same. But the way said magnet is being moved within the module, or the sensor within the module, is a different thing, hence why it provides improved results.

      Not even, there are far more expensive controllers than this one, but this one is far from being cheap too. Pompous... That price is basically what the 1st Xbox Elite controller was released for in an economy that was far different then. And it would break within a handful of weeks.
      It may not be for you, I can respect that, nonetheless, you're judging a product that charges more because it offers more and is better.
