If it wasn't for Marty the guitar my grandpap gave me before he passed away would just be sittin in the corner collecting dust I believe paps up in heaven proud as ever THANKS A MILLION MARTY
I saw an ad for “why youtube guitar lessons don’t work” right before this video. I really do think your videos work and you’ve helped me learn a lot of songs I’d never have been able to figure out.
They just mean you play everything by remembering everything you see on RUclips, and don't actually "understand" the music you play. Kinda true but yeah fuck it lol I also only watch videos
Instruction videos are much alike, your ultimate judge should be ‘does it sound like what I’m trying to play’ and 99.9% of instruction video makers don’t get there. The solo in this one isn’t right and the reason it doesn’t sound quite right is that it needs more distortion, but a lot of RUclipsrs make that mistake.
Marty is the hardest working guy on the internet. I don't see many people putting out the amount of content he does and not with the quality of his videos. Keep on keepin' on Marty!
Just saw a green day concert yesterday, they played this for the encore along with jesus of suburbia, that concert is one of the best moments of my life
Marty is in my opinion one of the very best guitarists/guitar tutors on the internet, and that shows with how quick this once little project continues to grow, congrats Marty
me: *gets halfway through video* "oh he's probably not gonna explain the solo" marty: "now we need the solo" me: *runs extremely fast to bedroom screaming* "RUN!! RUN!! QUICK! QUICK! GET THE GUITAR NOW! edit: my dad: "why did i buy this kid a guitar?"
I live alone...BUT, my neighbours hate me so much since i bought a guitar... The old guy wont even say "good morning" to me when i see him while leaving for work xDD
Whoever says RUclips can’t teach you to play guitar, they’re stupid. I’ve learned so many chords just from Marty and me practicing everyday has definitely taught me a lot. I wish I could show a video of me a year ago and today now to show the progress I’ve had. Thanks Marty for all the songs you post really do appreciate you for keeping my love of guitar on 🤟🏽
Omg I lost my shit when I saw this video!!! One of my fav songs if not THE favourite!!! You are the beast Marty Man, so much love and support from Croatia as always :D This is gonna be a busy week for me lol
Lovro Knezevic Your assuming that I was supposed to know that, you don't exactly make it clear but anyway have fun learning I know I'm going to have fun learning this lol
I need to give Marty kudos. Been playing for 44 yrs. Back then, there was no internet. I'd spend hours with cassettes rewinding and playing to figure it out. You should be so thankful that guy's like Marty are out there posting this. Seriously!
This guy is an amazing teacher. Especially for beginners. Explains the chord names, notes, plays fast, slow and everything in between. Unbelievable. Way better than the guys who say OK SO ITS AN Fsharp into a pentatonic finger mctwisty and then you wanna use your toes for this sweepy macdaddy followed by the X power chord and remember we are in drop D-1 tuning with a £75000 amp and seventeen pedals that I won't show you.
If it wasn't for Marty I would have never met the friends I met from music its like one big family, I've been playing two months and I'm already almost at performance level at my lessons school and I love all the people there I'm Thirteen and always loved guitar and rock especially green day, Metallica etc... Thank you Marty for contributing how much you do to the music community and beginners or advanced musicians. We love you Marty Thank you.
Marty, can you do some more solos.I want to learn whole song but I have go searching everywhere for them. I rather learn them hear than anywhere else.I know that some don't sound great but it would be nice to learn the solo to every song YOU teach. Thanks, and your a great teacher.
You'll eventually do it even with small hands, but it'll take time of course. A year ago I though the same as you do, but now even the bigger stretches and fast chord switches between those are like water.
Don’t worry, it comes in time. I’ve had my guitar for 9 months now and, although difficult for me to do large stretches, these come in time. You just need to adjust and get used to it. I’ve had to do arpeggios that were on the seventh fret to the 13th fret on the e string. It comes along as long as you keep trying.
Only been on this channel five minutes and i can already see a lot of dedication goes into these videos. And i'm not just saying that because every comment says how hard you work, its because im barely know anything about guitar and you have just showed me how to play a whole song. If you can teach the everyday person that visits this channel that's saying something... keep up the great work. Subscribed and liked!
I have watched a lot of tutorial videos of this song, yours are the BEST! No BS, no showing off, no tab behind paywall. You make sense of the whole thing (shape and fingering), and the solo part is brilliant (it's hard for a beginner to figure these out from tab alone). Actually this riff is the reason why I got my electric guitar... First I tried to follow your video to learn the main riff on an acoustic guitar, and it shocked me that it's actually playable and sound like the real thing. Now the main riff's already OK, the solo it's on its way. So many thanks for you! Without your video it definitely would take me much longer to begin shredding! (if you call that beginner stuff shredding). Keep on doing this, when I'm at the comfortable level I'll probably go get your ES-335. 😀
Thanks Marty I usually use your videos to help me understand tab better when I’m first starting a song and it helps so much because some things you just can’t understand from reading tab
I always wanted to play these songs ever since high school but our music program in school prioritized those with experience and launched them to Band competitions. The less skilled ones were left to play the simplest songs for grades. Now a college grad, it's been years since I touched my acoustic. I know, not the right guitar to practice this song, but it's the only one I have. I still suck, but this vid helped me out. Thanks, man!
Little tip on this song if you are having trouble playing the second power cord so touch the top string with your ring finger to mute it so it sounds right hope that helps someone
Could you please do a video on The End by The Doors, and also thanks for posting all these vids, 6 months ago when I picked up an electric guitar I leaned most of the riffs and songs from watching your videos and even now I keep watching them, please never stop posting these, you're a great teacher.
Saw a lot of instruction videos on this song and so many just aren’t playing it with the distortion it needs. It’s a punk song! I’m still not convinced of the little stutter he’s doing when he’s not playing that F#5 chord, it’s not just open strings he’s doing some form of harmonic or muting there. Also, the solo is definitely not all one shape, there’s more to it than that. It’s not two guitars it’s because this isn’t how you play it.
Great video! Next time, you could put the chords on screen then show us how to play them. Also put the strumming pattern on screen. It's a bit hard to see the patterns as I am not a proffesional. Thanks!
This is one of the songs i probably have to play this evening/night with a band on a jamsession live performance. I can play it already okay, but o want better, i want to play it more professional then like a beginner haha, Thank you Marty for saving me
Hey marty thank you for making a video of this just watching it enough I put it together and played it but I got holiday Longview when i come around brain stew boulevard of broken dreams 21 guns father of all and some riffs of jesus of suburbia east jesus nowhere oh love welcome to paradise and basket case being worked on in standard tuning
