    Interesting video. Good CAD work. I have a question for you. Something I have wondered about for years. I understand how the wire is drawn through dies to reduce the diameter. There are many dies depending on the size of the final product. What I don't get is how the wire/rod is initially inserted into and through the die then moved to the pulling device.
    Thanks

    • @EnkiMMXII
      @EnkiMMXII 6 лет назад +1

      Indys Dad I run a strander at work and I can answer that. When changing to a new setup, you pull all the strands you can through the die (until it is too tight) and wrap them around a steel cable with a loop in the end. This cable is also wrapped around the end of your previous setup. The few strands you can't pull through are inserted just before the die and crushed into place by the others. A few feet later, it falls into lay and you can mark it and do your testing. This is just for a strander. Drawing down a single wire is a different animal. I have that answer too if that's what you meant

    • @xaevere
      @xaevere 6 лет назад +1

      You have to shave or grind down the tip of the coil to fit through the first die about 1 inch depending on what machine you are using for the next part. after you do that you use a portable drawing machine to pull more through the die so you can get it to wrap around the shivs that will help you pull the rest. then you just repeat the process for each die you need. smaller wire needs more dies and its a pain to have to do it because it starts breaking the smaller it gets.
      i worked at encore wire running the endex which draws the wire and i also learned the strander.

    good one. whats happen inside the spark tester? how its done?

    • @RandyMarsh-nu6lo
      @RandyMarsh-nu6lo 3 года назад +1

      I wonder if you’re still gonna see this being 8 years ago lol!!! But inside there’s strings of metal beads that have usually about 16kv flowing through them. They’re constantly looking for a path to ground. The cable is traveling through these beads, and if there’s the tiniest of pinholes, that’s enough to complete the path to ground, and the spark tester will be set off. The operator will note the location and mark it. Then the cable after being extruded will get the hole repaired at a later time. There’s no time to repair it while it’s running.

    "The insulator maintains the flow of electricity in the conductor"... what!!!
    Strange way to describe it.
    The electricity in a conductor (ie: the current) does not require the insulator to remain in the conductor, the insulator is needed to avoid short circuit with other conductors and to protect the metal from corrosion.

    • @JasperJanssen
      @JasperJanssen 6 лет назад +3

      saintpine “the insulator keeps the electricity in the conductor” is probably a better translation.
