  • www.myboxingcoach.com - When it comes to beating a taller boxer, there are a number of strategies that we can apply. In this video I cover a specific strategy, delivered with the use of 3 tactics, that will help you damage the opponent on the way in.
    Contents:
    0:00 Introduction
    1:11 Beating a Taller Boxer - Tactics
    5:40 The Boxing Drills
9:48 The Execution of the Tactics
A key concept of this strategy is that we fix the opponent with feints. A height advantage (and therefore a reach advantage) is only an advantage when the taller boxer is able to dictate the fight situation.
If the shorter boxer can dictate the exchanges by triggering the opponent to throw punches at a time of their choosing, then that shorter boxer can execute a strategy of breaking the reach advantage of the taller boxer.
This is all about the concept of trigger, defend, attack. The 1st tactic for beating the taller boxer focuses on triggering with the feint, using a reactive defense (for example a block) and then stepping in with the straight power shots.
The 2nd tactic for beating the taller boxer involves switching out the reactive defense for a proactive defense, such as a slip, and using the slip as a platform for the attack.
The final tactic for beating a taller boxer involves switching the angled side shape and targeting the body and head off the centre line. If you can bring a taller boxer forward then bringing the fight to closer range is that much easier.
    Cheers
    Fran

Reactive boxing, counterpunching style, letting them close the distance then slipping and punching when they are already inside, feint-trigger-defend and punch .Trully appreciate it Coach Fran, but i noticed that Inoue also close the distance when he gets difficulties on closing the distance by using a power jab, gliding forwards from very far away and when reaching he throws a whole combo and straight up pivots out when he is done.

I guess Fran is always boxing a taller opponent 🤣🤣 #shortarse 🤣🤣 Excellent video, the best on RUclips 👍 Come On England. Just like you've always said: how do I box a taller, shorter, counter-puncher, sothpaw etc it's just good boxing. You need to box well.

😂 Spot my whole boxing career getting told to 'get inside'. Worked out pretty quick that you can nail them on the way in. AS you say, good boxing skills are what counts...always 👍

Hey there I train boxing intermittently as a hobbyist and for fitness. I was just wondering what is your opinion on doing a jab. Do you do a jab with hip rotation or not? Some say not to . I’ve watched mayweather doing it on his punching bag and he does use his hip. What’s your opinion ?

I was taught that a square stance is more efficient for shorter fighters than bladed. What are your thoughts on this?

    • @myboxingcoach
      @myboxingcoach  10 дней назад +1

Yes, often used more. Great for close range work, more power bias. At longer range though can be a little more constrained on mobility. Mix of both for me 👍
