Great review! I liked the assessment of expectations of the disc flight path based on arm speed. The profile comparisons to similar discs was very insightful as well. I'm definitely looking forward to the next video.
Thanks! I just watched your review on the Infinite Sphinx, and I look forward to seeing how the Volt works for you. Hey you guys reading this comment, yea YOU!! If you are looking to add some more discgolf to your YT feed click on Back of the Box Disc Golf above and check out his channel. He has released 47 videos in the last 6 months! That is an INSANE amount of work! Maybe lets join along for his dg journey and subscribe if you like! I mean, discgolf really could use some more great mustaches.
I really appreciated your review. Good to know the plastic is slightly different, then previous. the in-depth review was spot on. All the details being covered, really made me feel like I know exactly what to expect from this disc. The radar gun with range was really helpful! Things that could be helpful try to get some slower throws, to help slower arm speeds to get a visual. When throwing towards the colored slides, it kinda makes it hard to track, maybe having just a fence or tree line would help a lot. Can't wait to see more!
great review! didnt get a JC volt but have one in proton plastic and really like it. i would enjoy more videos of this sort, maybe some comparison videos even where you test different midranges or throwing putters or drivers from different brands in your analytical style. i think that would be great content for the dg community overall ;)
Hell thank you for this, so cool. The mustache, that is. I've been baggin a Volt for a couple of months now and using it as my main driver. Moving up from a Crave actually, and it's been so fun learning with it. I have one in Fission (163) that feels like I can shape my shots with and another in Eclipse Proton (175) that I absolutely rip on, like really rip. It's been rad. Hey, but sometimes I'll take two shots then end up liking where my Crave landed more haha. Good stuff, looking forward to whatever you put out next. Firebird comparison would be dope. Also might copy pasta this as my review to infinite discs. Peace!
Love the video and have really enjoyed past bag and disc reviews. As a purely forehand player it would great to see 1 or 2 shots on forehand as well. Keep the great content coming out.
Very good call Nathanael! I actually recorded a few throws where my friend was throwing forehand, but then I realized I hadn't really clearly discussed it with him and wanted to make sure he was ok being in the video, so I excluded those shots. I think throwing forehand and also I could throw some left hand backhand for a dramatic different arm speed as well. I will work to get forehand shots in my next one.
Sup Doth!?!? Once I heard Conrad switched I built an MVP bag! Didn't have to buy much as I threw a LOT of MVP back in the pre-pre-pre flight number days of MVP. :) Only thing I can say about the Volt is I used to bag an Amp instead ... lol ... for this new bag I pulled out my old Volt (Neutron, pre-flight numbers) and purchased a cosmic neutron Volt. HOLY STABILITY Batman! My old Volt, which is NOT that beat in is amazing. I can do whatever I want with it. Hyzer flip, check. Straight with some turn and reliable fade, check. Hold an anhyzer line, check. The new cosmic neutron though is significantly more stable. Good thing though as I like the pairing of the two. I MUST find me at least TWO of these 'Bendy' Volts!!! Cheers!
All MVP bag sounds like a fun project! I have a feeling Volts may have a lot of different stability versions depending on plastic. Glad I've found a couple that work well for me. I still have a JC Volt in my bag.
Doth you crush it on every vid, best disc golf content out there (disc golf nerd and yours - for all disc golfers moderate to beginners etc...). If you have time there are so many other vids that I know me and possibly a bunch of other people would enjoy - bag review revisited: wear tear and update on how you like or dislike bag (bought a Skinny Fossa 2 based on your vid but seen them all) . And a disc reviews of course and comparisons of similar discs from other brands (in stores may see a disc with similar numbers than one looking to get but wonder if they fly the same like you mentioned in this vid MVP Volt could be compared to innova thunderbird and discraft raptor? Lat 64 disc? Etc.. for brands and disc compares. Thanks for reading, sorry for run ons and awesome content!! 🤙
i just got today myself Proton Volt and damm it was overstable. i agree that it felt like a firebird for me, hope it gets slightly less stable after couple rounds.
The volt is pretty unique for me. I throw proton volts and I have had a beat in old nuetron. The beat in neutron was a good hyzerflip but not too flippy. Different than other similar flying discs. But not super crazy. The proton is where it was crazy for me. I could hammer it super hard and it wouldn’t want to turn over or fade too much. It would accept a flat to a slight hyzer angle and go straight. I think it is a great disc for someone who throws harder. Of course I am at like 500’ elevation so I can imagine it being pretty beefy up higher. The neutron ones you threw at elevation flew pretty similarly to my proton ones I have thrown. Your black proton one might be a bit more stable than my protons. For James I think he will like the hyzerflip of those neutrons because he likes the beat in discs. But he may want to beat in a proton. It is a unique flight for any disc. For my arm speed the old purple one was perfect. I lost it, but I think by that time it was starting to want to flip over. I just got a brand new one and it is pretty beefy, kind of like a good thunderbird for me.
Great breakdown, thanks for writing that up. I agree with the sentiment that I can sort of carelessly smash on it hard and it still just wants to go pretty straight. Its working out to be a great forehand and backhand workhorse for me in the Neutron plastic.
Been watching your video for a month or so now. Loving all your reviews! Just subbed realized we live close. Be cool to run into you on a course sometime! 🤙🏼
The Teebird/Thunderbird combo was replaced by Volt/Tesla. One disc doesn't replace both. They are all a little bit different, but it's the combination of the two that are used the same when building a bag and discing up/down with stable-overstable control drivers. When you need a little more distance, or if in a headwind, you disc up to the Thundy or Tesla from the Teebird or Volt. Also, Firebird was replaced with Fireball. Night Strike FD was replaced with Relay.
@@brian6speed That's because the Volt is closer to being his Teebird replacement, not Thunderbird. His bag is up at MVP website. mvpdiscsports.com/teammvp/jconrad/
This is the kind of high quality disc golf content a guy can get behind.
This type of deep dive into a disc golf subject is my love language. I could watch destroyer rim analysis videos for hours.
This is another class of disc review entirely
I was able to grab a couple of these yesterday.. great review! Subbed
This is my favorite DG channel.
Thank you Issac! That made me smile with a big cheesy grin
I love the Volt, Animus, and Longhorn, cool to see all three in one video!
Great review! I liked the assessment of expectations of the disc flight path based on arm speed. The profile comparisons to similar discs was very insightful as well. I'm definitely looking forward to the next video.
Love the content! Your word is gold in the disc golf community!
Great review. I am looking fwd to getting on of these even more now.
Great review! I just got a proton volt in the mail to review myself. Thanks for being so thorough as always!

@@DothSavek thanks for the shoutout!
Phenomenal review. The detail and variation on the lines are exceptionally helpful!
Sweet review! I noticed that you timestamped 11:39 for your conclusion but it actually starts at 10:39. Thanks for making this incredible content.
Good catch Caleb. I fixed that timestamp just now

The volt is way beefier than the crave. It's like going from a teebird to a thunderbird.

great review, maybe consider adding intended release angle on screen along side the distance

@@DothSavek I'm on the hunt for a couple JC Volts ... most everyone is pretty low on most discs though. Hopefully will turn around here soon.

Great review Doth! Would you consider doing an updated Destroyer video with some of the new moulds? Ex: Halo's, Philo, etc?
Yea I think that would be great! I do have some philos and halo. I will keep that in mind. Thanks for the request.

Do you think the volt fully replaced the flight of his thunderbird
Yea I think they probably did

I don't get the stamp. Looks like he's swirling down the drain
Aren't we all?
Great point. James wanted a profound stamp about the current state of humanity.
To me when the disc is spun, depending on the speed it almost looks like stop animation, at higher speed, it looks hilariously awesome.
Maybe the stamp is supposed to be james juggling disc his disc?
