Marco has absolutely ZERO ball knowledge
By far the worst take. I could see an argument for both the other setups though. 4-2-3-1 all the way.
Musa didn't show any creativity with club or national team so far. He can dribble, and carry the bal up the field, once in a while, but he doesn't have creativity talent to do any thing in final third.
I agree with you, first 2 had a solid line up but Marcos was bad and a Copa America dud
I like the 4 2 3 1 formation. Especially having Reyna near the top where he can distribute to all the forwards.
Not even Gregg could figure that out 🤣🤡
I also like the 4-2-3-1 for this team, especially in games against teams where we are playing in transition.
@@erlinghaaland8046 BJ figured it out playing a 4-2-3-1 in 2023 Nations League.
Miles Robinson lmao
"No Gio Reyna" "no this is a creative midfielde" Reyna is literally probably our most creative player 😂
@@piers00nivans sorry to break it to you but he hasn’t delivered in the past 3 years. Failed at the Premier League and also at Dortmund. Sure, he was potential but so did Freddy Adu and see how that turned out.
Besides some flashes Reyna doesn’t deserve to be a starter. He quit on the team at the Word Cup and now he can’t even get minutes at his 2 last clubs. Potential can only give him so much leeway.
Let’s drop Mckenney because he didn’t perform on this tournament but let’s skip Reyna . Sure, it was Berhalter’s fault because of the tactics BUT he didn’t even show his talent vs Bolivia or vs Panama. Regardless of tactics his “Brillance” should be enough to stand out against the weakest team in the whole tournament.
Nobody should get a pass, hopefully the new manager will call players based on merit and playing time rather than “Potential”.
I like Gio. If he played 98% of the time at Club he would be our MVP. But being on the bench doesn't make you great...
@user-yf4ys2np9u I don't understand what club level has to do with the national team. Regardless of admittedly some terrible club minutes (100% due to injuries rather than skill) Reyna has been amazing for us. Most of our goals during the final 2-3 games of our last few tournaments have all been either by Reyna or assisted by Reyna. I'm not sure if we watch the same USMNT games or not not but I challenge you to go back and tell me how many games we started looked bad as soon as Gio has been subbed out, no seriously check because I've noticed it pretty much every game. A big one where you can tell was when we were tied against Germany 1-1 in the first half looking dangerous and as soon as the 2nd half begins and Gio is subbed, instant collapse.
His horrible attitude in the World Cup is inexcusable, but part of the blame is definitely on Berhalter, too. What need did he have to tell Reyna he was being put into a limited role? Lmao. BTW idk how playing almost no games in the Premier League is failing the premier league.
@@user-yf4ys2np9u .
@@user-yf4ys2np9u It's crazy you're talking about the Panama and Bolivia game where almost all our players looked either bad or mid.
Dude said… “he likes the creativity of the midfield”… but then doesn’t have the most creative player this team has in Reyna? HUH?!
Love that the three are talking about a different keeper in 2026. There is a reason Turner has bounced around and lost his starting stop numerous times.
RENARD AS COACH, He wants to coach internationally in every region...he wants it!
Tony's is exactly what I've been wanting from ggg for his whole second campaign
So we will have the same team in 2 years with a different manager. Looking forward to adding our name with South Africa as a host nation to not advance to the group stage
Best lineup:
Balo
Haji Reyna Pulisic
Musah Johnny
Jedi Trusty Richards Dest
Schulte
Could easily see Jalen Neal breaking into the first 11 with a move to Europe, or dual nat brian okoh in the LCB position.
Think schulte will be in Europe by then and is more polished than Gaga. Johnny Reyna and Musah are a great balanced midfield, and I like the potential of haji to keep scoring goals and make a bigger move.
Charlie Davies knows what’s best for the usmnt that’s a great lineup and xavi is definitely the coach for that team
Regarding their coaching hires, these guys are in Fantasyland. Sir Alex Ferguson has a better chance of being the US coach than either Xavi or Klopp. If you're going to put up your picks for 2026, at least make it realistic.
@@mdfrenchy so you know those coaches?’you know their desires and ambitions? You know what they require, You know what they think about American soccer and what impact they think they might have?….tell me how you know this
Mckinnie is a great player. He plays for Juventus and starts week in / week out. His passing is great and his workrate is phenomenal.
Leaving Musah out is an insane take
musah is trash
I think Josh Sargent never gets a fair chance and when I see him in there he always plays well
Xavi and Dest don't get along at all.
Who cares if Dest does not get along with any future Manger regardless of who they are. This is why America, the team I love, USMNT regresses every year. 2002 WC we went to the QC, final 8, played Germany well, and probably should have won. USMNT has done nothing, but romanticize our future, calling out a Gold generation, that has done nothing. Pathetic.
Dest is at PSV for good now
The big lesson is that the players don’t have to love the coach. They need to perform for the coach and fear him, or at least fear being benched.
Good. Maybe it will deter Dest from having any more temper tantrums
Guys, Gregg isn’t the coach anymore. I think Maloney will be back as a CB. If not, Brooks will.
With Gregg gone, I'd love to see Weah and Dest switch positions. Or maybe play Scally with Dest on the right wing. Or maybe Musah at right back with Dest at right wing. But whatever, have Dest at right wing. We're not good enough to have Dest as a fullback. But running at people in attack he'd be great. If we're down and need to push for a goal, we can slide him back to full back and bring in another attacker.
DEST IS NOT A RIGHT WINGER.
In 2 years we're going to have a deeper squad 😁
And I love Tony's shout to Haji. Puli on the right, Balo at the 9, and Haji on the left. Those are toys any quality manager would have fun with 😁
Pulisic will only keep disappointing if he keeps getting misplayed as a flank attacker. He can't do that. He can only put his head down and play at the point.
I like the 4-2-3-1 with Tony’s back line. Then Adams and Musah. Pulisic on the left and Weah on the right with Gio in the center and Balogun up top. Gio needs to start playing at club or he’s dropped and you put Musah central and put Weston next to Adams with a little more freedom to attack.
i believe we have better choices than McKinnie, who imo is done...he's a non-factor for the most part, doesn't impact the game like we NEED him to...
Weah is not a good winger/RF he doesnt score or get assists.
Musah can’t pass. Musah is less valuable then either McKennie or Weah
If we’re still doing tyler adams and tim weah in 26 we are fucked
At this time the 3 GK is take are Horvath, Slonina, Schulte
I would like to see a 4-4-2 diamond with Adams our back sweeper and Reyna the point then depending on opponent Johnny or Mackenzie if you need some defense, Musah and McKennie if you want offense and then Pulisic paired with either Flo or Sargent/Wright up top also could be flexible drop Pulisic to a wing and another attack it's just really flexible
I really hope some new players emerge before than but I think we already know the players that are decent. I just think our starting XI is way overhyped. They are majority average players.
Rafa Benitez would be great coach. He coach some top club in euro an won the champions league.
We need Vasquez for #9
Xavi Hernández should have been contacted yesterday !!
Marco with no Gio!! That’s brave.
That's dumb*******
Charlie rocking the Argentina jersey. Nice!
Surprised Trusty goes unmentioned so often. Especially for back 5 formations.
Tony basically had my Copa lineup after the Weah red card.....in that Wright/Balogun/Puli up top with Gio in the #10 with Adams and Cardoso (or Musah) as an 8/6
Marco musah up high playing a CAM? His literal worst skill is the talent in final 3rd. I understand wanting musah in, not over Reyna at the CAM but I understand wanting Musah on the field.
Cavan Sullivan will still only be 16 in 2026 but he will one day be a future star
Love to see lineups that exclude McKennie, he's not trying hard enough in the national games.
Turner/gaga
Dest Richards McKenzie Jedi
Adams musah Tillman
Reyna lw Flo st pulisic rw
I personally would like to see Tillman get a shot. Young, actually gets playing time on his club and is in form. Feel like there’s so many players that r interchangeable weston weah etc
Balogun
Paredes-Reyna-Pulisic
Cardoso-Musah
Dest-McKenzie-Richards-Robinson
Y’all forget about John brooks he’s still solid
4-3-1-2/ 4-4-2 diamond are the best formations for our player pool. Or a 3-5-2
These are like Copa 3rd place match lineups 👌
for me, Weah > Wright...Pulisic on the left, Weah on the right...might not be popular, but, this is all speculation...
Antonee Robinson needs to be replaced by others. Very tentative, not very technical. Looses the ball a lot of times.
Let's not forget Y. Musah. He was the Captain U17 and played with Palmer, Bellingham and Musiala. Why are we letting him go to waste?😢
The 4-3-3 needs to go away. I like Tony’s formation best
I love xavi but can put his head down and pay attention to xavi cause I don't know xavi and dest sports relation in Barcelona then
These lineups make sense, especially Tony's lineup, when they are playing better teams but I am curious about how each of these guys would line up in games where we need to break a low block against weaker teams. The GIANT question marks forming at CB for this team as Tim Ream starts to fade at the position really scares me against the teams that we want to be able to beat at the World Cup...
I would like to see the next coach look to find another winger option other than Pulisic & Weah and I'd like to see what it looks like w/ Pulisic on the RW side instead of LW side. We also need to find someone in the starting 11 better at taking set pieces that Christian, because what they have been doing for the last couple of years hasn't been working...
Lastly, we need to figure out the depth situation so that we don't have another world cup where we gas our starters legs by having them play all of the games...
The Columbus crew head coach is the best for the job.
I'm all for a 4-2-3-1 look, but you have to include Weah in the starting XI.
i still think Weah has a spot...and Musah over Cardozo is a change i'd make
Why? He plays wingback at club level cause hes not good enough to play a RF. Doesnt score or assist enough to be the best option.
Why do you have to? This sounds like a leadership council, Gregg berhalter mentality
@@hennman1965Johnny plays 90min every week for Betis and Musah can’t see the field for AC. This 11 is about to look different
Disagree about Weah.Wright is leagues ahead of Weah and had a great season at Coventry. I think Tony pretty much nailed it.
You're not Kate Abdo, Titi, Jaime and Big Meeks
Need to go get Dennis Bergkamp for coach
Can’t believe ussf hiring another coach from the system
Wtfff is Marco's line up 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I don't get the Musah love. Heck, I think De la Torre is better
Why does Charlie hate on Haji??? Paredes over Haji Wright??? wtf
@kevinpayne3175 he just doesn’t have Weah in the starting 11. He’s flashy, quick, but outside of the goal vs Wales in the WC what has he done? I really like Weah, but for as quick and elusive as he can be, expect better results.
Pulisic Balogun
Reyna
Ldlt Musah
Cardoso
Arob Trusty Richards dest
Mckennie dropped because he keeps getting fat, Adams injury prone.
Take a look at Matt Freeze from NYCFC for goalkeeper. He is a BEAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For a coach….Tomas Tuchel
Miles? Lol
Hire Xavi with Thierry Henry on his staff
Schulte is the vets keeper
They need to buy into a 5 back. I’m tired of trying to play a style we can’t against top teams. Get stuck into your shape stay compact and play a style that is resilient and tough to break. We are not good enough to dominate possession wise against better sides and that’s just a fact.
5 back isn't offensive enough for this team...we traditionally have difficulty finishing (though maybe not under the next gaffer), and parking a 5man bus in the back won't help that...at least that's how i see it :)
@@hennman1965 If you are realistic with the squad at hand we do not have the capacity to dominate better nations like columbia, let alone the best in europe. We do not have the luxary of dominating possesion so get stuck in defensively in a compact shape and defend and counter. Suits this group of players so so much more.
If Daryl Dike could get healthy and stay healthy…HE IS THE MAN! He’s simply very difficult to stop when other players are. He could score more goals than any US man in history…But, he’s got to get and stay healthy.
He tore an Achilles in February. That's a long recovery and rehab and not an easy injury to come back from 100-percent. Not writing him off but it's a shame - he's a real talent.
He’s not been good when given the chance internationally
@@sedmundson WHAT? He did great at UVA, did great coming right into Orlando. Did great on loan to Barnsley. And started out well with West Brom. He had 3 goals in 10 games for USMNT and only played half the game. That's pretty good. His issue is, he keeps getting hurt. He's big, he backs people down and then either scores, passes it to someone else to score, or draws a foul in the box.
@@TheMedicareAnalystyou must not have watched those games
I don’t get the love for Richards. He was hands down the worst player for US in Copa. Seemed shaky every time he was around the ball.
Any manager they bring on has to be a tactician. They need to be an authority figure, of course, but the manager must be the tactitician for when plan A, B, and C go to hell. Also, how the structure and organization of the lines or how they are to utilize the space to defend/attack/distribute is all tactical. Granted, we're not starting with a pee-wee league, but even the best players in the world need guidance on tactics.
Every American should be taxed another $.01 on the gas pump to give Klopp double/triple of what he would make anywhere else. Nobody would know and we get our guy.
not even Guardiola could make a good team out of this bunch
Really...dropping Weah...please. What about Reyna
Reyna is slow and injury prone, unless he turns it around there are better players. Highly skilled though.
Reyna is one of our best attackers when he’s allowed to attack instead of being played as a damn 6 or 8 Gregg never understood how to use his ability on the ball or his ability to pick out passes. Hell he wouldn’t have been a starter these past few windows if not for the BJ Callahan era when he contributed to nearly every goal.
Weah hasn't really played to much for his club to be fair.....
Its a squad game. Your bench needs to be strong too at tournament/tournament level.
@@kevinpayne3175 puli and adams are injury prone too that doesn’t mean they aren’t good when they play. James rodrigez is slow too but a good coach can play to his strengths and work around his weaknesses because his ability to create is so important.
We’ve played so one dimensional under Gregg all we know is run-cross-jump-repeat its like a Football team that runs a 5 wide formation on every play. Gio is our best threat to create chances through the middle by dribbling or finding gaps for passes just like a good run game you have to have options to create opportunities and keep defenders honest.
Miles robinson 🤨
Marco said he liked the creativity of the MMA midfield and that’s why he didn’t choose gio. 😂 this guy know that gio is our most creative midfielder? Xavi?!? We couldn’t play tiki taka style ball bc we don’t have players that are technically that gifted under tight pressure and space. Plus I don’t think Dest would love that idea either 😂 just saying
I think Tessmann is an outside shout here. He is moving up to Serie A and from what I have seen he is a strong, technically gifted midfielder with a great passing range, ball winning ability, and he’s a threat from outside the box.
So to add to the instability of the usmnt.charlie wants to bring in a Temporary coach...??? A nd what..find a new one just b4 the wc
Hello!!!!!!
Brilliant
Charlie saying Musah is his option in the dual-pivot because he is our most gifted dribbler in midfield...what? So he can dribble in a straight line while shrugging off defenders. His passing and vision are poor, defensive positioning is poor (tackling is mundane). Not going to hit an outlet pass that starts a counter. One-trick pony, and that is enough for Charlie?
Whats the point of picking your best 11 when we’re still two years away? It might be the current best, but others might come through in that time while some might drop off due to form or injuries. BTW Klopp said no to the offer from the USFA. It was supposedly a serious offer, but it would be good to know what they offered him or was it simply to placate US fans so they can say they at least tried?
Klopp isn’t coming. Get real.
2026 - Three games .. three loses
Gaga got his team relegated in Belgium.....
Memo Ochoa got like 10 teams relegated and he still started for Mexico for 30 years
@RickyRicardo84 that's not really a good thing or argument.
@@bulletproofman323 ur right it’s not a good thing.. it’s an amazing thing.
Yeah, while turner and horvath sit on the bench and make mistakes for the national team, Slonina gets the opportunity to play week in week out and learn.
He didn't get his team relegated. His whole team did. The defense and the attack need to do their part as well. Gaga is still learning, but being in a team with a leaky defense will definitely help him improve
John Brooks??????
He's still our best CB and is left footed
Also Xavi doesn't rate Dest so why would we invite that level of discord
We just got rid of Berhalter and his bizarre pettiness
Since you are simply dreaming, can somebody imagine a mature and developed Malik? Gill? Diego Kochen? I am trying to think of a surprise talent from now on and move away from the overrated unhatched eggs.
After that greatest stupidity of a red card in us history. Weah would not start ever
Richards… because? He plays in “Europe”? Never mind he’s shaky AF and can’t play out of the back.
Pulisic aint it people. Not even close.mckennie should be there...hes the leader. 100% right about weah and mussa...terrible
Omg what a waste of time. One guy literally had our Copa lineup. Yall know nothing about this pool
charlie is clueless
Tony and Davies: The team is being too comfortable, there is no urgency because players know their spots are guaranteed regardless of club form……
But let’s keep Reyna even though he has not produced in the last 3 years. 🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠.
Drop McKennie because he is not producing but keep Reyna with Zero comment about his performance in the Copa America.
Zero accountability for some players I guess 🤦🏼♂️ 🤦🏼♂️
Rough ball knowledge from the paid media. Shows how bad American soccer reporting is
I’m sorry, but these guys don’t understand tournament football. Its about winning, not looking good.
Marco's is awful. Just horrible.
What’s so bad about it? Isn’t it basically our typical lineup before this copa?
@@tyler5919 it is the same our our standard lineup, but with Weston back and Musah up. Considering how much Marco watches Seria A, shocking he would put a guy who can't figure out the final third at a 10.
@@kaijusportsclub5440 yeah, definitely don’t like musah as a 10. Him at the 8 is fine, very talented and calm on the ball but lacks finishing in the final 3rd for sure
Several thoughts- first Marco is an idiot. He “loves that creativity “ of the midfield. So he doesn’t include by far the most creative member.
Second, the disrespect for Trusty is messed up. He is way better than miles. Plus he is left footed so a natural replacement for Ream
Third, he is my 11-
Balogun
Paredes. Gio. Pulisic
Adams. Johnny
Jedi. Trusty. Richards. Dest
Schulte
No McKennie….get off the show
Pulisić should not play for the national side. He is a selfish, clueless "captain" who doesn't know how to lead, he never should have been made captain.
Pulisic Balogun
Reyna
Parades Musah Cardoso dest
Arob Richards McKenzie
for all the criticism Tony has been getting the last few days, most of it deserved, his line up is pretty damn good
As a person who loves USMNT, who is American, with Italian parents that support Italy, the facts are in. USMNT does not have the quality and class of players. We have no Golden Generation, this is a made-up marketing term by the USSF. USMNT has regressed since 2002, when we made WC Quarter final, final 8. Really pathetic how we romanticize USMNT, sounds that a soap opera, always complaining, when in reality we do not have the caliber or quality of players. Thats fact.
Well USMNT does not need to win get Trophy in final world cup, because terrible players, coaches and management failed. ANother countries will doubt they are not going to win when keep changing coaches without selected players. So American do not need to worry when exit tournament in host World Cup in U.S define American becoming more lack of interested of soccer instead support USMNT teamn anyway. American people more support into another sports are Hockey, Basketball, Baseball and Bicycling race better to watch soccer. When the team never win spent 94 years it means coaches were failed disqualified players brought into World Cup.
Tony and Charlie are you joking putting together players that bombed out of Copa America om a future list. Only 2 players played at a high level during CA. Christian Pulisic and Antonio Robinson. Continuing to praise USMNT players in the public media providing us a bogis list is disingenuous and a disservice to your fan base.
Pulisic had one good game out of three.
@@manme6051 I agree but he showe up to camp in form in shape and gave us everything.
Be realistic Klopp and Xavi Americans always delusional
Looks like American soccer is a mess.
Keep the competitive Euro players only in the starting XI. MLS players for the rest.
I don't care about lower division or bottom of the league players.
MLS players for the rest 🤮. MLS is the lower division. It’s crazy how you dismiss the championship players when every single mls team gets relegated in the championship
YALL HAVE NO PLAYERS COMING THROUGH
HAVE TO START GIVING OUT CITIZENSHIPS
or fight mexico for players 😂... wait you don't want them crossing the border but wan them to play football 😂
Wright is an AVERAGE players and he is not improving anymore.
Yall better hope jamaica dosen't get it right with appointing athe new coach and selecting the right players.
I would like to see Pulisic, Gio Reyna and Walker Zimmerman at USMNT Roster.🙏❤❤❤❤🤍🤍🤍🤍💙💙💙💙💯
Walker Zim??? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Zimmerman is a joke! The only thing he has over others is his fitness
