I use Sikaflex 292i marine sealant to reseal the hatches on boats. Just an alternative for people. It’s available in most good chandleries. It can be used above and below the waterline of a boat so it’s serious stuff.
Hi Charles, Thanks for subscribing and I am pleased to hear that you like the channel. Since 2018, we were living full-time in our caravan between March and November, and occasionally February also. This fitted in with the open season times of the campsite which we were working on. We tended to travel in the winter - working seasonally allowed us to do this. We also have family close by and we would spend Christmas with them. We have no house of our own any longer! The pandemic stuffed us quite a bit - my hours at the pub were obliterated due to closures in both the early summer as well as the winter and the campsite was closed for a large part of 2020. This meant that we took quite a hit on our finances, which is why in February 2021 I took a temporary job in the NHS and Stacey started her own business. We left the campsite in November 2021 and have been staying with family since - Stacey's business went mad over Christmas and has continued to be busy ever since, which is why getting back into the caravan has been more difficult. However, we plan to do a lot more touring this summer, visiting the numerous country fairs selling Stacey's products. A bit of a different year for us!
The dome itself is nearer £45, £60 is for the whole thing inc frame etc But even £45 is a lot, they used to be about £25 but everything spares wise has shot up since covid.
Yup, everything is going insane price-wise at the moment. I don't know how the manufacturers can even justify it. Perhaps making as much money as possible before a possible recession?
Hello, I am new at caravanning, is the tape you put enough to prevent water from comming in? Puting some sealler on the eadges after was not better? Thank you so much for answering :)
Hello to you lovely pair how you doing hope your ok well not sure if you remember me but I have been subbed to you for quite some time now on my private RUclips Jamie Ellmers but this is now my new channel which I also just subbed to you with so you know who it is when this pops up lol well you all take care all the best
its always a pain in the ass not having your caravan where you live - backwards and forwards to storage yards is really annoying - especially with no electricity
Solar UV damage weakens the plastic….endless repairs. I would bin the whole skylight and buy a brand new one. They are cheaper than the time you waste repairing.
thank you, you've provided me with an idea of what I need to do to diagnose and fix my leaky skylight. I also live in a caravan!
Awesome! Glad to have been of help. :)

Thanks again Charles
You are right. 65 quid is absolutely scandalous. Maybe if they were cheaper, people would replace them.

I could've afforded to replace it, but I would rather spend the money saved on other things - namely pints of cask ale down the local 🍺

@@TheMcNeillsonWheels. 😂Real ale sounds like a good idea.

Might have been easier just getting new dome. They’re about £40 on eBay.
Ha ha! Yes, but you forget that I am northern and adverse to spending money on such FRIVOLITIES like a NEW one!!!
You still saved yourself £30 doing your repair .Well done.
@@kevinjohn725 Thanks Kevin. We still owe you a diary. Drop your email address below and we'll get in touch.

A double subber! That's what we like to hear! I'll go and give you a sub back now also!
I would have chucked it out and fitted a maxfan

It cheap just buying new skylight it need a new one
It's cheaper repairing, and saving means more money for 🍻
it might be ''cheap'' for you and for someone who has no idea how to do anything like a simple repair job
