- Hey guys, this is my homemade electric bike. I built it in 3 days for under $40. I got all the electronics from an electric lawnmower and I built the rest with a lot of flat iron. Enjoy!
Batteries: 2 12 volt 18a/h batteries
Motor: 24 volt
Top Speed: 19 mph
Left brake converted into trigger mechanism.
if you would have given a rubber sheet coating on the motors shiny shaft which is rotating the tire then you would have got a little higher speed and torque... but this thing is awsome, you are really a little genious, boy...
Hi. Why don't you use a button instead of the brakes for the trigger?
its ok to the motor simply on and off or its the orginal triger of lownmower?
+pop eye its the original trigger of the lawnmower which is simply on or off
ty bro
Vasting time.
Awesome job Eric. You have inspired me to tear apart the old 24v mower I have to do this to my bike. Thanks for sharing!
Son, mow the lawn.
Dad, I'll get my bike
Hey do you think that friction drive is more efficient then that of chains and shifting direct transmission system?? I am asking this because you have used this friction in your triskate and this project also...
We purchased this Vivi 27.5” electric bike and a Tentaquil 26” electric bike for our 13 and 14 year olds. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ The Vivi was much easier to put together. With the Vivi, there was a video link to assist with assembly which made the process easier to follow (we did put the handlebars on upside down, but it was a quick and easy fix). With the Tentaquil, the assembly was not as simple to follow, but after we messaged the company for an assembly video, it was easier and they did respond quickly. The other major differences were that the Vivi has a grip throttle on the right handle (like a motorcycle) and the Tentaquil has a push throttle that you use your thumb to activate. The monitors were also different, so if you’re looking for something specific in terms of changing the bikes functions, pay attention to what the monitor offers. We were really impressed with the overall quality and functionality of both bikes, but if you’re looking for more power and an easier assembly, definitely go with the Vivi!
This is the battery I got recently. It's a Kobalt 80 volt max battery for outdoor tools. It's only 2.0 ah. But it runs very far. It will run 7 or 8 miles but you have to pedal too.
It ran very nicely the first time. I was pedaling and using the power from the hub motor but very lightly. But on Friday August 4th, the terminals got a short.
The voltage went all the way down to zero and the voltage display turned off completely. The battery did get very warm. But it was not hot. And there was no smoke. I let it cool down. I put it on the charger and it would not charge. I test the terminals with my battery tester and it would not read. The terminals shorted.
However all of the lithium 18650 cells are still good.
I can not understand why this happened
from what i know your pushing your battery too hard and drawingf too much amps from your battery causing it to over heat or possibly overvolting your controller
Eric you're a genius
buy a cheap 48v dc motor controller and a ebike throttle off ebay get another 2 12v 18amp SLA to go with them your motor will handle it dont know about you motor mounts ect but if they do it will be much faster should hit 30mph .
adam ganjaman
can that contraption climb a hill?????
great job Eric! \m/ . . \m/ Check out my lawn tractor conversion :)
weird it seemed to lack some torque on hills, its geared perfectly.nice
Does that tear up the tires?
this is great, looks a bit wobbly, I would cut groves it the metal drive wheel for better traction.
how long does them lead acid take to charge..... do ya check the battery acid level lol
Jerry rigged bike.
very good its design, happy birthday to you
What is the Wattage of the motor, if you don't mind me asking?
Sorry but I don't know exactly. I am running it at 24V 18Ah so abou 500Watts I think.
Sweet! Thank you! That seems about right. I'm currently drawing up plans to build myself an electric bike myself. How's this working for you so far?
very good.
i like must your projecto
very good.
i like must your projecto
very good.
i like must your projecto
and how do you recharge?
I use the charger that came with the lawnmower
What is the range without pedaling?
what's the name of the electric moto?
Make it chain drive
how did u do with the throttle-regulator?
I hooked up the brake lever to the original lawn mower trigger. So its either full power or no power haha
nice!
ericinventor what kind of lawn mower ?
Que motor voce colocou na bike ??
How long will it run when the batteries are fully charged?
oli elsas I'm not exactly sure since I haven't actually tested it to its full range. But I have ridden it for 15 minutes no problem
try to uphill bro...
I love your ingenuity
congratulations bro!
Super
nice setup bro...
nice neighborhood
love it
very good
Good
How far can you go on a single charge ?
I'm not sure exactly but probably like 5-8miles
WHATTRE THOOOSEEE!!????
Aren’t you supposed to be at the beach??
how fast?
19mph
S p e e e e e d?
17mph
All that for 19mph. All that weight for that speed. Crap sorry. Read up on how motors work and ohms law.
I don’t think ohms law is gonna help you with this one. Unless you overvolt or rewind the coils
Can send me the DIY, how to plans...
I will be building one, also...
+Lip stick The second portion of the video explains how I built the bike. I hope you can use that to help you with your build. Start with a regular bike, add a battery pack by bending some flat iron, mount a motor, wire it up, then have fun!!
