@@dotdotdot53 yes, of course, that's what I meant. My bad. I have a few automatic watches and all of them have this. Even my cheap $40 Chinese ones have a 5-tick-per-second sweeping hand.
@@assb3ater420 but a spring drive movement doesn't just have 5 ticks per second, it is 100% smooth making it practically an infinite number of ticks per second. Only Grand Seiko have this type of movement.
The GS Spring Drive is the most advanced watch movement ever invented. Most watches I can figure out how they work, but this drive is an incredible piece of engineering and I would end up breaking it, if I took it apart. The money and time to make this must have kept a whole team of watchmakers years to develop.
It’s basically an electromechanical phased locked loop. The quartz acts as a reference signal and the IC acts as a frequency divider. The difference in phase between the current generated by the main gear’s magnet and the quartz reference signal generates a voltage across the coil, that creates a magnetic field. This converges on some value until the difference in phase is zero, giving you that accuracy. An amazing piece of engineering and such a cool application of PLLs.
I love this. Its not even a question for me anymore. The cherry blossom tint with the natural fall of the leaves ticking did it for me. Im copping this for sure. As soon as i win the lottery 😢
This is my favorite watch seiko ever!!!😊 but I don’t have money to buy this things hope someday I have one of this precious watch that I have imagined for my entire life thank you sir for sharing this watch I am happy to see this things
The watch is Titanium and Grand Seiko hand finishes the case and bracelet as if were stainless steel. Titanium is more challenging to hand finish like this. Most watches that have this level of hand finishing are 3 or 4 times the price of this watch. I have this watch and love the boxed sapphire crystal. One of my complaints is that this watch scratches easily and wish that Grand Seilo put an application of Diashield on it to prevent that scratches to this beautiful watch.
I love GS. I have an Omiwatari and White Birch spring drive and they are spectacular watches. However, I put a leather strap on the white birch because the metal one had no adjustment and even with an extra link taken out it slid abound. Much better on leather now.
Great collection! I am in Japan right now, deciding on whether to buy a White Birch, the Omiwatari or the Shunbun. What would be your recommendation for a first Grand Seiko? I have some Swiss „boring“ classics in the collection already.
@@ShamrockRagEll I like the Shunbun but I passed because I don’t like the power dial on the front , but that’s a personal opinion. If it didn’t have the dial on the front I would have taken it over the white birch.
@@ryanbidyk3551 that’s great to hear. I like the power indicator in a wabisabi way. The white birch and the omiwatari look great, but I already have an Explorer and a Speedmaster and was looking for something more „exotic“, to which the indicator adds in my opinion. I just fear, the white birch is technically better (as it’s newer) and the omiwatari is called „the best GS“ by some people. Would you agree?
I’m doubting the 1 second per day. I think it’s 1 second per month or better. I work in an aerospace lab where all our hardware is timed together. We have giant UTC clocks with millisecond counters at each station. All synchronized. So I always set my watches to those times. When I set my watch I even make sure the minute hand is proper, if it’s 54.5 then it goes halfway between 54 and 55, for example. My spring drive will be dead nuts on after a week. I think even longer but it’s been awhile since I did that experiment. I don’t think you can time graph a spring drive perfectly though. Would like to hear others experiences.
I wish I lived in new york for the first time in my life. The boston in my blood is boiling. I'd kill to come nerd out with you over these. Do you get a lot of customers coming in to meet the minutemon!?
I’d love to have you stop by so we can nerd out about watches! Surprisingly we’ve been getting more people coming in after watching my videos to meet & chat about watches and sometimes even buying a watch!
I have seen this piece in real life at Seiko Boutique. the indices are too thin (proportionately speaking) and makes this luxury watch dial feels like toy :( the Evo 9 indices became thicker, thus it evokes more luxury vibe
Oyster and jubilee are styles that Rolex invented but the whole watch industry uses these styles because of the success of the bracelet styles. I would love to.see the sbga413 on a jubilee bracelet. Jubilees are my favorite.
Can't believe we're still talking about the Snowflake. All GS watch dials since then blows it out of the water. And the Snowflake can keep that 49mm lug to lug
You absolutely cannot match the GS spring drive movement. It’s amazing. All the others have that shakey or shuddering movement. That’s garbage compared to the spring drive.
Love the shunbun but the idea that the gliding second hand refers to falling blossom is a poetic stretch
Agreed that's just a common occurrence on watches

Ayeee thats been my daily driver since February 2021!
For anyone wondering, the titanium wears its scratches well, far less noticeable than on a steel bracelet/case.
glad to hear someone else wears theirs daily. I just purchased one and plan to make it my new daily. love this thing

It’s pink. Enough said
That’s like a Lexus made by Toyota, in car terminology.
Hand finish second to none, not by a machine (Rolex anyone?); if you like watches, please see one of these beauties in the flesh and thank me later...
Arumai! In Tamil language it means AWESOME 👌

A Rolex is not a watch. It’s a status symbol. Grand Seiko is a watch.

MinuteMon and Teddy Baldassarre should do a collaboration

Those watches are the xiaomi of high end watches by a mile.
Their dials are the best, but the bracelets and cases look so cheap and dorky, like the $100 seikos… such a shame.
