Awesome video. Recently messed up my stock passenger side rocker panel on my SS and decided it was a perfect excuse to get ZL1 rocker panels. Just waiting on them but before I did order the ZL1 Rockers I watched your video to make sure they would fit

Watching your video I broke my Rocker molding. But I learned how to take it off. $195

Excellent video. Reduced the intimidation factor big time. UPDATE to help others... the bit size is a Torx, T15. Something that is not visible in the video but very helpful to know is that the fork of the removal tool ACTUALLY RELEASES EACH SIDE OF THE CLIP ONE AT A TIME, (not shouting, just emphasizing) it doesn't pinch both sides of the clip, and if you ROCK THE TOOL LEFT AND RIGHT while pulling lightly on the panel and pushing lightly on the tool with the idea that one side releases first, then the other, it will pop off easily. After working the front 2 clips loose then the 3 rear ones, I worked the tool on the remaining clips from back to front along the skirt all the way to the difficult one at the front door hinge. After releasing all the others, that difficult clip at the door hinge came free pretty easily. NO HAMMER NEEDED! After you free all the clips on top, there is one on the bottom front below that difficult one that comes loose more easily, and must be loosened to slide the rocker panel off with just a light hit of the hand. FINAL POINTS... to protect the panels from paint damage (very important on light colored paint) is to tape the ends of the removed panel as well as replacement panel with painters tape, and the same at the sides of the body just above the rocker. Tape is not needed at the black sill cover since the plastic there protects the paint from the tool. Thanks again for a great video!

This helped a ton. I didn't bother with the hammer when I did the second side though, and all the clips stayed in the rocker. The first two clips on the front can be accessed from inside the fender by just pulling the front fender liner back and pinching them (turn steering wheel all the way to the side first). For all the others, I used the nylon pry bars to give me some space to work, then I poked each side of the clip (side by the pry bar first) with a Harbor Freight mini 90 degree pick. Once you get the top, do the same thing on the bottom clips accessed from the top. Pull, poke, POP.

Thank you so much for your video. Life saver for sure. Helped me out big time as I was attempting to swap out my fender only to discover that I needed to remove the lower rocker. Your advice on tapping with mallet was the key that actually kept me from removing it completely from the vehicle. I was just enough to drop it where i could get to the two bolts to remove the fender. Again thank you so much!

My rockers from Gary are suppose to arrive tomorrow and I have been a little apprehensive about tackling this job because as you said info on this is hard to find. Thankfully a C5 member linked me to your video and my fears are no longer. Thanks for the video.

Did you order oem rocker/skirts and have Gary's custom paint them or did you get the whole thing from them

Got the whole thing from them, the rockers and they painted them. In fairness, this was years ago.

I have a white SS 14', would like ZL1 side skirts, but they come unpainted? It's hard for places to paint match white.

I got a pair from GM Parts Direct for $367.04 shipped to my door. GM part numbers are 22832603, 22832604 for left and right side. They were $145.65 each but cost $75.74 total shipping due to size.
