Thank you for your video. I received my Janome today, took it out of box and Im afraid to touch it :) It stands at the table and Im just watching this little monster :) I will check stitches with original setting and threads, as you mentioned. Great video for beginners like me, and Im glad I found you. In manual I never found any info about oiling, and no oil in regular extra acessories, just brushes, and in manual - maintenance how to keep it clean from dust etc. nothing about oiling, which is obvious for my other industrial sewing machine and overlocker.

I settled for the 2000P due to cost down here, but great tips on the skipped stitches and bulky seams! Thanks 😊

Hanks for your review! Now that you’ve had your machine for longer I’m wondering if you have encountered any different issues with skipped stitches? I like all of the same things you do about this machine, however, today I received skipped stitches. Brand new needle swap, still skipped stitches. I experimented with it a little bit and I found that every time one needle went off of the fabric in the back, it would skip. I find that to be so temperamental! I fire up my Juki 1500-absolutely zero skipped stitches whether I’m on a double layer of fabric or not. I thought they had fixed this with this machine but that seems to be what’s happening to me.

I have had my Janome 3000CP for more than a year and never one skipped stitch. It's a great machine. I replaced 2000CP with this one to get the top coverstitch. Once you've learned how to use the machine properly, you won't have any problems. Do yourself a favor and follow The Last Stitch for all things coverstitch. She literally wrote the book.

Was just wondering what you thought of the Juki. I'm assuming it was the 1500. I want a CS mostly for jeans, which means multiple layers of denim, so I'm afraid the Janome won't be able to handle the heavy stuff.

I’m planning to swap the Janome 2000 for this 3000 as I want a less fickle machine. What do you think so far?

On sawing sweatshirt and hoodies the layers of fabrics gets to thick and its very difficult to get good stitches.

I regularly get skip skitches when sewing with 1mm stitch length. Does that happen to you too?

Thanks. I really enjoyed your demo. Mine arrived a couple of days ago and I'm enjoying it so far. Keen to use the top cover stitch to sew some swimwear for my son and maybe some leggings to tuck my lil mum tum into

It’s a hefty price for a cover stitch but Japanese tech is well worth the price.

Did this machine come with the metal foot? I noticed you were using a clear foot. Did the machine come with a clear foot? I have always had problems using the clear foot and created skipped stitches on thinner jersey T shirt type fabrics. I know Janome suggests one does not use the clear foot as it has the longer tail. I was wondering if Janome has now redesigned the clear foot. I would think Janome could redesign the metal foot so one could have a small clear window inserted into the heavier metal foot. Apparently, you had no problems sewing with the clear foot but you were sewing with thicker fabric. The only time you got skipped stitches was when you used the incorrect needles for the knit. I never bother to make sure when sewing to make sure the needle is in the down position and with my 1000 cpx I have never encountered a problem stopping my stitching in the up position but then I use the correct needles and never use the clear foot. The clear foot seems to gather up the fabric behind the foot and when I sewed I had to hold the fabric taunt from the back while sewing even when I raised the pressure foot knob. I do not like using the clear foot and using the metal foot produces results that have never skipped on over 160 different items.

Hello. The machine came with both :) I got the skipped stitch with universal needles and the clear foot. No skips with clear or metal with the correct suk needles

Thank you. I was asking another 3000 owner and she said the clear foot had been redesigned and i am hoping eventually that newer clear foot can be purchased separately to use with my Janome 1000 cpx. I refuse to use the older longer tailed clear foot I bought. The fabric catches on the back of the foot tail and gathers up which created skipped stitches on 3 of the garments I was sewing. I went back to the metal and no issues. The metal foot is what I will continue to use.
