    Thanks so much for posting this demonstration of the Janome CPX 3000 Professional Serger. You omitted mentioning a wonderful feature, which is, you can sew right off the edge of the fabric and the stitches will lock! You don’t need to release and pull the needle threads to the front, cut them and pull them to the back of the fabric any more!! This is a major improvement!!

      Yes, there's many wonderful features and improvements of the CoverPro 3000 Professional, but with limited time and SEW many things to demo, there's only so much I can mention. It's no fun revealing all the secrets! lol!

      @@amandas.439 There's many reasons for skipped stitches,- be sure you're using the correct needles, for example, but one of the new developments in this machine is the improved, stronger feeding system with wider, higher and differently cut feed dogs than previous models. There's more contact with the fabrics, which will also help eliminate skipped stitches.

      @@amandas.439 I just commented on this same thing. I have had the 1000cp for a few years. It is wonderful, and the binding attachments are amazing. BUT it STILL skips stiches, and I'm so over it! Mine doesn't even skip on seams, it just skips randomly. I've tried EVERYTHING over the past 4 years. Super frequently changing the needles helps the most but it's still not enough. I went in to finally switch brands today. Then I saw this and it looks so good! I'd love to keep my baseplate and binding attachments. I just want to know that it won't skip stitches!

      I’ve had the 2000 since May and used it a lot and UNPICKED A LOT because it is very unpredictable even not changing settings or fabrics. There is no rhyme or reason to it but this looks more man enough for the job. Anyone out there who’s not selling who can shed light on their experiences of the 3000?

      Hi Sandy. Janome has indeed been listening to feedback and has recently discontinued production of Instructional DVDs in favour of videos on You Tube. I bought an external DVD player for my laptop for about $25 so the option is available if wanted/needed, but videos are definitely on the rise with more on the way. Happy Sewing!

    How does it handle multiple layers of denim? Will they fit under the foot? And will it sew over those jeans seams without skipping stitches?

  • @av-bf7yd
    @av-bf7yd 2 года назад +5

    At 10:24 i see skipped stitches on the side seem when the seem goes over the bulk of the fabric. This was often happening with my janome 1000cp and it seems it is still happening with this new model. Pity because the idea of top cover stitch was very appealing.

    • @Indydi
      @Indydi 2 года назад

      I couldn't find them. I'm concerned about this too. Also concerned about whether it can handle multiple layers of denim, as I want to sew jeans, and don't really do much with knits at all.

      Any sewist and machine can encounter skipped stitches. That's all part of testing and learning a new machine. Every fabric behaves differently, so adjusting the machine or simply replacing the needle to better suit the fabric or to change when the needle is dull is all that's needed to correct the skip. Keeping the presser foot level going over bulky seams is another way to help avoid skipped stitches. It doesn't mean anything is wrong with the machine or the sewist.

    I just saw this in my local shop today! It looks amazing! I went in to switch to a different brand after using your Janome 1000cp for a few years. I've tried absolutely everything and it still skips stitches. It skips just randomly, not even on seams. I've heard of a lot of other people having the same issue. I'd really love to get this new one and not have to switch brands and still be able to use your baseplate and binding attachments. But I'm still nervous about skipped stitches!

    • @janomehqjanomecanada4908
      @janomehqjanomecanada4908  2 года назад +1

      This is indeed a fabulous machine! Skipped Stitches are often caused by dull or incorrect needles used, improper threading, stretching the fabric too much while sewing. For delicate, or slippery 4 way stretch knits, I often use Madeira's water solvable stabilizer on top of my fabric, which helps control the stretch of the fabric and eliminates skipped stitches. The bulk of the stabilizer can be torn, or cut away, then the rest between the stitches just dissolves in water.

    Very informative, thank you. I got the original 1000Cp over a decade ago and a few fancy feet. It sounds like Janome has kept the 3 needle models consistent so that my feet would still work with the 3000. Am I understanding this correctly?

    Hi, I am looking for machine to do hems for strethy cotton jersey leggings and t shirts. I see a lot of tests has been made on firm fabrics but none on knitted fabrics. Will this machine do a good stitch on jersey? Anyone has tried? Any inputs are appreciated! I have heard that home "plastic" machines are not very good with jersey coverstitching (skipped stitches & other troubles), although it was years ago, hopefully now technologies has improved?

    • @janomehqjanomecanada4908

      The CP3000P has a few feed dog system to help feed thicker layers, but you can also adjust the pressure of the presser foot, which will help feed thicker layers more easily. Lengthening the stitch will help, as well.

    Is the top coverstitch the same as a flatlock? Would my baseplate fit this new one?

    • @janomehqjanomecanada4908
      @janomehqjanomecanada4908  2 года назад

      No, they are two different stitch techniques, but, if butting the two pieces of fabric together, you could do the Top Cover stitch to join the two pieces of fabric together which would mimic the flatlock. The attachments of the CPX1000 and CPX2000 will indeed fit on the new CoverPro 3000P.

      You can slow down the machine by decreasing the pressure on the foot control. You can add a little spacer at the side or back of the foot control which prevents it being depressed all the way, which will allow it to run at a consistently slower speed.
