I have a miserable Great-Aunt. She's miserable because she makes a chicken casserole that is really good; the recipe of which she will take to the grave with her. I cannot relate to the mindset which denies the joy of sharing a recipe with someone who enjoys food. This may be petty, but I can tell you I will have no shame at the next family get-together when I set this thing down beside hers, just to let her know it no longer matters.

How can anyone watch you guys and not get excited? Your happiness is infectious. I have to tell you, I just found your channel 2 days ago. I was in the process of making a tomato pie, and needed to check the process, and your pie came up. I already had my cheese filling made up ( I used provolone, white cheddar and Asiago, and threw in a few plops of ricotta. It just happened to be the cheeses I had on hand). I had a ton of basil in the garden to use. The pie was a success. I planned on using your recipe for the next pie- onions and bacon are only going to improve anything you add them to ! Unfortunately I had slugs eating my tomatoes. I only got 2, the size of pool balls. Maybe enough to make a tomato cupcake-pie. Sadly, here in Maryland, the season is over. But next summer, the first picking is reserved for your tomato pie ! In the meantime, I have all winter trying your other recipes !

I’m a Texas native and have made this dish for 40 years, but I’ve always used cream of mushroom and cream of chicken in my recipe. Also, back when I first made it, Rotisserie chickens weren’t readily available so you had to boil a whole chicken, then debone it as called for in my original recipe. I’m going to try it this way next time as it looks great.

Is dish similar to one served at Black Eyed Pea, which is called, "Southwestern Chicken Casserole"? Because I'd like to find a recipe which will copycat that one. BEP is out-of-business now.
You know, we haven't eaten at a Black Eyed Pea, but we just spotted on still open and serving yummy food in Arlington, TX!!!! I believe their Southern Chicken Casserole is similiar to the King Ranch Casserole. It's very good!! We hope you try it and if you do, please give us your thoughts!

It's really popular in South Texas. We didn't hear about it that much in the D/FW area. But it's so good!!

I found the Lodge website and a cast iron Bakers skillet but it’s 10.25”. It has the two handles which I like but I want the 12” hmmm? Help! 🤣
