I remember watching his movies when I was a kid growing up, but now seeing how he got there made me appreciate his movies even more. This is an amazing video man keep up the great work!!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, Robert Rodriguez is pretty much the pure definition of hustle (some of the studies were to test healing medication, so they literally cut him for those). And he's insanely open with his knowledge, which is admirable. Have you read Rebel Without a Crew? I first read it a few years ago but I've been reading a lot of film books lately and it's still honestly the best one. It's a journal that he kept while he was making El Mariachi and he goes into great detail about the particular study he did, how he got all his shots, and the tricks he used to make the movie look more expensive. Best $15 I ever spent.
@@SyntopikonI haven’t read the book but I will make sure to check it out, it sounds like a good book to read if you want to start film making, Thank you man!
I just recently read "Rebel without a Crew" and it blew my mind! Such an amazing insight into making a film. And this video is such a great companion piece! Not only with summarizing the book into an easy to digest amount, but also with analysis and insights. Especially with the Cold Calling, great encouragement! I have a recent film idea that involves getting some Strangers on board, so I really need that encouragement right now. Great video!
Thanks! And yeah, easily one of the most inspirational Hollywood stories out there. Cold calling and cold emailing is ridiculously helpful. Don't know if you've considered it, but you should consider signing up for the free trial for IMDB Pro (30 days). It's got plenty of emails + numbers and you could probably create a massive phone bank/email bank to work with in a month by spending some time each day finding peoples emails + numbers.
