My brother once played at the WC in a Commander Side Event with Sheldon as Table Judge. One guy cheesely infinity-killed the table pretty fast. After the game,the winner collected his prices and quickly left. Sheldon then grabbed a deck and told the other players to stay and play a true Commander Game with him. Such a class act

I built Abdel/Candlekeep Sage recently, and while my build is a little different it plays out the same. It’s the most resilient deck and so much fun! Glad to see an underrated commander getting some screen time!

I love Farseek cause every time I see someone play it, they always get it wrong. Olivia searched for the one land that farseek doesn't actually get, the almighty forest XD.

I was actually on my way to my LGS when I found out. I was going to meet two friends to jam some commander for the first time with them in a few months, so it was fitting. RIP Sheldon Menery

ame back from the clutch three times on MTG Arena lol, once 1 life vs 24 life opponent (Best game ever BTW) ... , another had 9 poison counters, barely won, and the last 1 life and dude quit at 7 life lol. got pics to show... never give up folks! I Hate that he died before I could play him in a game. Thank You Shelden Menery for bringing us commander.

My favorite dungeon crawling commander is Zada Hedron Grinder, put in some tokens and few single target dungeon spells and Zada is off to the races ;P

I built Jedit Ojanen, Mercenary that plays a lot like Vince’s deck, except instead of soldiers, I get forestwalking cats!
I hadn't played commander in forever, mostly just some historic/brawl from home on MTGA, but I finally managed to have a good day of no migraine that allowed me to go to my local store to jam a few games of commander with the Slicer list I had been brewing the day before the unfortunate news. RIP Sheldon he did so much for this game

This was very sad to hear. I remember finding video's on Magic and I saw him in a video and the guy would have been amazing to meet in person. I love the intro, and this guy is going to be very missed in the community. You two, this channel, THIS community, just absolutely rock. I have no idea what to do in magic as I suck at trying to build a deck as two that I have could probably count as pre-con but I try to throw in and take out on what I own to make better but still feel like I suck at this game.
I always enjoy the laughs that this channel brings and will continue to say that you all do fantastic work and look for many more amazing videos to come. Sorry this comment was so long; I don't normally leave comments :).

I'm resleeving my new Faerie commander deck (I just bought a Talion) in Gamegenic inners and matte sleeves. Did not realize the inners would be ever so slightly frosted. Pretty cool.

Great game! RIP Sheldon! I was very confused and intrigued by that Saskia deck. Not sure what the end goal was but would love to see it again in action! An epic slog at the end. Cringed a little when Kenobi didn't offer his hand back to Olivia and instead proceeded to add up all the damage he could do whiles she had no blockers or mana and then say how he could have done more if he had done this and that.. Its like you won dude.. It was pretty clear but I guess he was just in like hyper focused mode or something. I'm sure he didn't mean to be rude.. Oh well.. I applaud the patience of playing against a blink deck as it can be a very interrupty and solitary which can be grating. Perhaps not for all but yeah. The enchantress deck is so solid out the box! Loved it. GGs!

This PK dude is trully a master of flicking... a real motherflicker, if you will... the biggest flicking flicker this side of the pond!
olivia, a d20 is a 20 sided die, but the configuration is considered fair, as each good roll is close to a poor roll. a spindown has like numbers close, for easier use, allowing a dice cheat to litterally "spin" the dice (this is the dice cheating term) to land on one of 5 numbers on a d20, and land a 15,16,17,18,19,or 20 everytime (on d6, you can always hit 4,5,6).
its why craps tables require you to bounce the dice off the back wall to force them to actually roll and not spin
I run Abdel/Candlekeep and refer to it as my "Unnecessarily Complicated Boardstate Tribal" deck due to all the triggers I end up having to track.
Vince, I play an Abdel Adrian deck with the same background. And the ridiculous wincon is: worldpurge.

When I saw Arguel's Blood Fast I thought the art was sick, but the effect terrible, so I checked how pricey the fancy version was, and it was actually very cheap. That era of dual-sided foils was really, really weird. Magic has certainly had it's eras of card stock! I think I was curious if it would work with Second Chance to ramp me, but you'd still need Necropotence to lower your life, and you can already find Urza's Saga so this seemed like it wasn't actually worth it. Still great to look at, and in a less pushed deck it's technically a very relevant effect, the only thing that makes it a bad card is that several better ways to do that thing exist, ranging from Yawgmoth's Bargain and Necropotence down to Greed and the like, this is just not as good, it suffers from having been printed after they learned how powerful this kind of effect is.
Interesting choice to reference Taylor in the context of 'I'm about to win off of an 'deal with the devil' type card', but I think she'd be amused. I always think of time spent playing Magic when she sings about playing stupid games and winning stupid prizes on Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince.
I think Flicker might be one of the more annoying archetypes that doesn't get grief for whatever reason, it's slow, clunky and often generates less value than you need to win quickly, so they have to keep doing these annoying things. At least a wipe deck is more straightforward! That said I want to build a flicker deck because it appeal to my inner imp to just durdle so hard, so this is a case of 'I might not like it because I never get to do it' scenario. Abel is something people fiddle with in cEDH, he's one of the best Orzhov options iirc, but I would expect he's up there for any combination that has a relevant Background. I think if I build something flickery it'll be doing stuff like Yorion Wipes, because who doesn't want to see the Sky Noodle die horribly over and over, even if I gain immense advantage off of stuff like Farwell, surely it's worth it? I'm already working on a wipe heavy Kresh deck, so maybe I'll have my itch for that scratched.
I'll be the first to admit that the card is NOT good. However, a second greed that flips into something relevant for Lich later caught my attention. The backside basically reads "sac a creature and draw cards equal to its power" if Lich is in play!
@@ekplayscards I agree it's no cEDH card, but drawing cards is inherently good in Magic, such that people still play Sylvan Library for the draw. This can technically draw more cards if you have mana, and can help save you from dying after it flips fwiw. It's he kind of card I look at as very good design (in a vacuum), it's just that it's not in a vacuum, it was printed into a +20 year old game.
The fact that it gains you life potentially when you're desperate can matter, but it's also Black land ramp, so as weird as it seems, it's not even strictly worse than the 'good' versions of the effect, like Necropotence or Yawgmoth's Bargain.

I think why most folks get bent out of shape about rolling spin downs is that, technically, because high numbers and low numbers are clustered on either side, it is easier to manipulate and more consistently roll well. It is slightly less random. Very, very slightly. Far and away the majority of the average players won't care enough to try to manipulate it, so just give those spin downs a good shake and roll and they'll do just fine 👍

So I like Vince's Initiative deck a lot more than MY initiative deck, but yeah, people underestimate The Initiative a lot. It's _very_ strong.
I believe that has to do with it being delayed gratification. Most people don't care about the first 4 modes (compared to guaranteeing a draw in the case of Monarch, thus they don't usually care to try to hit you for initiative); however, when people let it sit and you say what the last mode does, everyone goes, "Wait...what?!"
