- Convert your rear aux port into a bluetooth connection with an aftermarket device..eassyy peaassssyyy. Range from $15-60 AUD on ebay...mine cost $40 shipped from Australia 😃
Just installed this today (purchased mine from Holdcom parts in WA) and have some tips for anyone trying this:
1. The 12 pin audio plug on the device that plugs into the Aux input has 3 wires going into it (left speaker, right speaker and common ground). From the comments it seems these can be different colours - mine were red, yellow and white. Mine were on the right hand side, but they were ALL in the wrong place so when I plugged it in, the sound was gutless and the left channel only was coming through both speakers.
2. The aux socket pins in the car you are looking to connect to are as follows (looking at the Aux socket (not the plug on the device) 12 pins - top row left to right is 1-6 and bottom row left to right is 7-12): pin number 5 is Left speaker input, pin number 11 is right speaker input and pin number 6 is commond ground. If you google "VE Commodore Video and Audio Input Diagram" there is a universalfuze PDF that comes up that has the perfect diagram to show the Audio input Pin Layout.
3. I had no guide for the colour of the wires on my device so just had to switch them around until they were correct. On mine that ended up being Yellow (Left) in position 5, White (Right) in position 11, and red (common ground) in position 6.
4. Best way to achieve #3 above is to play a song that you know has left and right speaker. For me it was Van Halen "Unchained" because I know the guitar is only in the left speaker and the Bass is only in the right so you can pan the balance left and right to see (a) you're getting stereo and (b) the left and right channels are correct. Just keep switching the wires around those 3 positions until it is correct.
5. Switching the wires around in the connector is easy, you just hold down the tab on the white plastic outer so you can slide the black connector block out sideways, then you need a fine screwdriver or somethng fine and pointy to press into the metal tab inside the little holes so you can slide the connectors out - for each connector you have to press twice (in 2 stages) to slide the little connector out of the black block, then you can switch them around to get it correct.
6. Some people have said the sound has no guts/bass - don't forget, this Rear Aux input it has it's own independent Bass, Treble and/or EQ settings - it doesn't use your CD or other Aux settings, so there are set to nothing by default, adjust the bass & treble and it should be fine
Hope that helps... thanks Sutho for this video, there's no way I would've figured out the above if it wasn't for you flagging the problem with the pins being out of place in your one, Cheers
Thanks for sharing this, installed mine first time with no issues. Much appreciated.
Had exactly the same problem, had power to the unit but no sound, took the plug out, slid the black 12-pin out of the white clip flipped it slid it back in, now works a treat! Thanks cobber!
Thanks, bought this a fair while ago and now just followed your guide to for it up, only difference is that I had to fit bigger spade terminals to fit the blades and used the black wire next to the power for earth, cheers
Very very helpful, I managed to mess it up but in saying that my port that needs to be unplugged had nothing there so this was more then helpful cheers mate
08 sv6 for reference
I used a pick with a c shape to it to undo the clip worked all 3 times I did it ahah was a struggle but we got there
6 days and itd be 1 year since you uploaded. thanx for the tips im going to do mine right now.
Nice mate, how did it go?
Im having an issue, followed the video and everything, but im getting no sounds out of the right side and barely any bass, if anybody has ran into this and found the solution, I'd appreciate, great video mate! Worked on my g8 except for very little bass and no right side speakees
Ii have this problem too, going to check it out tomorrow when I have more time, I will get back to you if I have any luck
Make sure the black wire is in the 6th hole on the top row of plug and red wire is 5th hole on the top. Mine were back the front.
Great video, it'll be very helpful.
Received my bluetooth adaptor today, will install tomorrow.
Do you have any idea of the purpose of the first adaptor you unplugged to plug in the bluetooth adaptor.
Cheers
Thanks for the video. There is hope for the crappy factory unit yet! Cheers
Nice ! Mine is not working can you explain or send a diagram of where the 3 wires go to headunit? red black and grey?
Plugged mine in today can’t connect to the Bluetooth, seems to not have power? Is there supposed to be a light on it when it’s powered on?
I’ve had the same issue. Did you find a fix?
I had to find power elsewhere, found out my Ute had a brake controller in it at one point (was hidden under the steering Column) which had ignition power so spiced into that, tested the unit by using a 12v tool battery I had and it powered on so the unit itself was working but yeah no power where it was supposed to go which was super annoying, you’ll have to find power else where it seems! 😅
@@fizzlefofizzleok thank you so much!! Where abouts did you earth your device?
@@lilycliffordfinch9445 same place as the devices instructions show, any earth to body will work
How does it sound?
Good on ya Bloke,
I reckon it was a VERY GOOD Video from a Down To Earth Bloke, thanks mate 🙏 I reckon, keep it up 👍
Cheers Legend!
Followed this method and it worked, does anyone know why the sound coming through the bluetooth is very weak with little to no bass
Check the connector might have a shit connection on 1 or more of the pins
I got my bluetooth done 👍 thanks for your video!
Hey mate hope your well? I have a question? Did you remove the factory Bluetooth module located behind the glove box? And if you didn't, is there any interference to play when you get say a phone call.?
Hope you can help
I followed your install worked great now it’s saying no aux it will play if plug in to front aux hole
Turn your rear aux on. It’s in the settings. Default is off
I appreciate your time and your presentation is straight forward. The plug that your removed, what does that normally do i.e. what's on the other end?
Thanks David
Cheers mate fkn legend thanks for taking the time and effort to make this
Does your Bluetooth for the phone still work and any tips how to get it working on iPhone 7
I’ve plugged mine in but it seems to have no power. How can I fix it?
Mate, you’re a legend. Good video.
Thanks!!
Great video mate, well done
Thanks mate! Appreciate it!!
Im about to do this today cheers
good video , hows it going few years gone by make a update video
Hey mate did you pull the pins to swap them around or just pull the black plug assembly and 180 from there?
Hey mate just 180d the black plug assembly. Cheers.
@@sutho5719 awesome thanks mate just in the middle of doing it and same problem no sound and noticed wires were on the left not the right so not sure if you can remember but on the right side yellow on top white on bottom and red 3rd pin in on the bottom?
@@sutho5719 i have the same issue and was hoping someone clarified how to do the 180 flip.
Thanks legends!
Have you swapped head units aswell?
hey there can you please tell me the name of the bluetooth car kit/device? Please.
NEW-for Holden VE Series 1 Bluetooth Audio Module
Super helpful video, cheers
So I’ve done it all but my issue is how to I change the car from using the front aux to the rear aux? My car has the gauges so I can no longer access the time etc. I’m guessing I’m going to need to go back to the mechanics and have them make it normal so I can change it
You can change it in the settings mate
How did you get the red wire connected? Mine seems to small to fit over
Same here, how’d you go about it
Don’t know about him, but I slid the plastic covering over it, making the metal tip move to the side
@@Clockwork935 Thanks for the advice, ended up just cutting off the spades and using butt connectors
I ended up putting a different terminal on instead
Does it automatically connect when you start the car like a stock stereo does? Cheers
Hey mate, yeah it does automatically connect as long as your bluetooth on your ohone is on, then go to rear aux on the stereo and its ready to go.
@@sutho5719 Cheers mate
great vid! helped alot.
The device doesn’t have any power and I can’t find it on my Bluetooth. Does anyone know how to fix this?? Please
You could have connected the black to left spade terminal. No need to do what you did. Informative video, thanks.
So chuck the black wire into that "empty" looking terminal that he swapped around?
@@seflaneggleton7669 been a while since I did it. But yes, the one that is connected to the black wire. It grounds to the exact same place.
Thanks mate just put one in and used the left terminal for earth.Worked well except for the terminal connectors on the BT module I had to open connectors to the right size
Yeah hi fellers I've got a VE Commodore 09 and I'm really struggling to get a Bluetooth on how to go about putting it in and so forth if anybody can point me in the right direction would be much appreciated I'm in Melbourne Victoria in the north
Hey, here’s a dumb question but, are you able to skip songs or not?
Not through any control in the car, but obviously through your device you can
I wish I watched this first. I had no audio, went to take the harness back out and it was in there so tight the wires got ripped out of it
Cheers for your vid mate
May I ask where did you purchase this from
Theres a heap on ebay mate..around 50 bucks
I pulled mine out an the wires pulled out you wouldn't know what colour goes where cheers
Just want to put it out there that the one of these I purchased off of ebay sounds like garbage compared to my bluetooth fm transmitter. The audio quality and especially bass sound just isn't there
what one you buy?
Hey mate followed exactly says my phone is connected will take phone calls but won’t play music
Hi mate, make sure you are connected to the right bluetooth, it's not the standard Vehicle BT, my one connects to 'Shuguo 2007', which came with the bluetooth. I can connect to both so both work?
Why the fuck was the module sent with the wrong connector. Now the module plug is snapped off in the head unit and I can’t get it out. Fml
Isn't the terminal with black wire, the one next to the brown/yellow wire, ground ????????????? all you had to do is plug other wire into that , not go buy another part and ground it to chassis. ??????????
I can confirm the black wire is in fact a ground. As I suspected that plug it for the "Smoker Pack". There is another the same at rear of console. No need to ground to chassis at all.
Ok great mate, as per vid all I am doing is having a crack..cheers for the info
@@DavedW1964 Yeah cheers for your comment. Saved a bunch of hassle by just having to plug the ground to the pin of the black wire. Works perfectly
Where’d you buy the unit from?
Just jump onto ebay and punch in VE Commodore Bluetooth and there's heaps to choose from, all basically the same
does anyone have a pic of correct wiring diagram my plugs are completly squashed in there will need to cut them and create new connections in the other side.
These are crap. I bought one and its all left speaker, next to no right 👎
