I love Hungarian cuisine, our Serbian cuisine is very much influenced by it. My daughter's name is Višnja, which is Serbian for sour cherry, so I will most definitely attempt to make this. Great channel, instant subscription.
Many thanks for your kind comment! I've just learned from many comments how similar dishes we have here in Eastern-Europe! I love your daughter's name - it's beautiful!!!
im not hungarian or eastern european at all but i love cherry soup! came across it randomly on wikipedia one day. I know its a summer soup but i love making it for thanksgiving! Tastes like a fall or christmas candle! thanks you guys!
Nagyon szép a bemutató. Csak még annyit hozzá, hogy jobban előjön a meggy íze, ha előbb egy öt percig, víz nélkül, csak a cukorral pároljuk. Very nice presentation! Just a suggestion though: the taste of the cherries is more pronounced if you first simmer them under a closed lid for 5 minutes with only the sugar stirred in, without the water at first.
I saw a picture and thought it was Lithuanian cold soup (Polish national dish). Soup for hot days. Soup made on the basis of yogurt or curd milk and cream with the addition of chopped cucumbers, radishes and young beets and their leaves and dill. Not cooked kept in the fridge. XD
I've never tried this recipe with other fruits, but there are other Hungarian fruit soups with apple, raspberry, plums or even gooseberry. But the recipes a little bit different for each fruits.
Apple soup is my favourite. You can make it with any fleshy (not watery) fruit you might make cake with. For example, you can use strawberries and nectarines but don’t use grapes or raspberries.

My mom is up in age and she doesn’t cook as much anymore. I’ve been craving this and other stuff she used to make
Köszönöm szépen ! Thank you for the recipe . We have a lot of sour cherries at the moment. Will try to make it for the very first time :-)

woah
Thank you Cherry Soup! :D
nice one!
Thank you! :D
After the sour cream, you add "cream." What kind? Heavy whipping, light whipping, or will half and half work? Thanks.
I just use a "normal" whipping cream. I suppose half and half works too - just the soup will be little bit thinner/lighter. I hope it helps!
can this be made without sour cream? can it be made with eggs instead?
Yes, it can be made without sour cream! Mix 3 egg yolks with 200 ml cream, and slowly add it to the soup (the pot removed from the heat).
yeah 5 eggs
Can we use other fruits and berries in the soup as a substitute
