My local Honda dealer wanted to go to my bank and withdraw whatever they wanted LOL . I did as what your video shows and it fixed the always on light. Thank you Sir.
It worked first time on my 2005 Element. Used a long twin solid core copper wires. I’ve been looking at this for 5 years! Dealer wanted $100 just to diagnose even though I was bringing in the car for the airbag actuator recall. Dealers are such rip off artists. Thank you so much!
Thanks! I had made some repairs to my Element that required me to remove the front and rear seats. Unplugging the wire harness from the seats must have triggered the airbag light. I also took the outside cover off the front seatbelts and blew out all the crud. After replacing the seats, I needed to reset the airbag light. I wasn’t quite understanding the written instructions I had found. This did the trick!
I found it easier to bend a paper clip flat then cut it in half and bend hooks on both. Insert them separately before you start. Then spin one to make contact as needed. Thanks for the help fixed my problem!
I tried the paper clip trick 4 times but only got the light to go out and come back on when the paper clip was reinserted but no flashes and it did not fix the light staying on problem. As a single person cannot be both under the dash and watching the dash light at the same time, the comment made by Cliff Stage is the better way to do this. A length of lamp cord attached to the terminals then a person can watch the dash and connect and reconnect the wires as required. Using the paperclip method, the time lapse to get from under the dash back to seeing the light is too long of a lapse time and it doesn't work. The connection and disconnection of the wire at the time the light goes out is critical, you only have a second to make the connection and disconnection. After using the lamp cord method I got the light to flash twice and go out. So far it has stayed out.
Thank you so much! Too bad I only saw your post today! I just came back from Honda and got charged 120.00 for diagnosing......they said that I needed to change the seat belt buckle for a total of 420.00 including labour! Soooo, not only they diagnosed the problem wrong..... (the buckle malfunction has to do with the switch located inside the buckle and the related light it's actually the one located at the bottom of the speedometer...that should go off when you buckle the seat belt!)....you are absolutely correct! I tried your method and worked! And by the way (like someone commented here) Honda does NOT cover anything.....or fixes anything for free! thanks to you I fixed it just after spending 120.00 on a wrong diagnostic!
Thanks so much! Worked like a charm. Even though it was the dealer's fault that it tripped when they replaced burned out dash bulbs, they would have charged me another diagnostic fee to reset this once I noticed it.
Thanks for this Video. This thing has been on since I bought it used. I had front drivers seat belt replaced by honda and did the rear left sb harness myself. You reset worked! Yes! Thanks again.
I removed the front seats in my E after a big cleanup and left the battery connected (Tch! 🤔). Before reinstaling everything I turned the ignition to the Run position to test the subwoofer and duct for the rear seat heat. I reconnected all the wires under both seats then after restarting, the airbag light stayed on! 😣. Followed this procedure carefully and the light flashed twice then stayed off so this works! The only thing I can say about the video is that you need to know that the reset connector can only be seen above the fuses after removing the fuse cover. It's shown at 1:44 but not mentioned.
Hello, Just a thanks 7 years later for this video. It worked like a charm except I found it easier to use a piece of wire. Who knows what the deal might charge to fix this problem that took me under 10 minutes to fix.
I have 2008 honda accord and could not find the yellow terminal to cross the wires. I watched several videos for vehicles other than the accord. Is the yellow terminal under the steering column or next to the fuse box?
Hi HollywoodAMcom, Mine is Honda element 2006. The SRS light stays on. I followed your procedure to short the yellow connection. Then I turn on the ignition. The light stay on and no flashing, so I can not continue to reset. What is the problem? I brought to Honda to replace the airbag for the recall. I ask to check the issue. They said no problem with the seat belt buckle. I remember I removed the passenger seat. When I reinstalled the passenger seat, the SRS light stay on. I tried to reset, it doesnot work. Will it be the cable connection under the passenger seat? I tried to pull in and out. It still stays on. What color of the cable or the exact cable for the SRS? If not the cable issue. What else will be the problem? Thanks.
Took a few times to manipulate in cramped quarters, but cleaned out debris that accumulated in the seat belt latches then did this procedure. Goodbye SRS light!
I was looking under my dash because I needed to tidy up wires from my remote start install. I found this harness completely disconnected. After researching I found this video which confirmed what that harness if for. So... does that mean I was riding around with a non-functioning airbag? Did the dealership just forget to plug it back in when they did my airbag recall?
It's actually fine. If you look at the female port it goes in to, you'll see there are no prongs in it. It doesn't actually get connected to anything but a blank on the board. Go ahead and plug it back into its port, but it doesn't make a difference other than keeping it tidy.
Super helpful, I can't see gauge and be under the dash at the same time, so a 24" lamp cord had good results, ( 2 tries) I learned that others have had deteriorated seatbelt latches covered under warranty. Will ask, when the passenger airbag gets replaced next week...
Do you know how to fix odometer mine doesn’t show anything after changing bulbs and odometer sensor that is connected to transmission any help please I appreciate
depends on 5spd or auto. if auto buy new. I also have 2005 element auto w/ 145k miles but I did full tranny service back in 90k and it shifts perfect. also you might wanna try lucas oil trans fix($12 ) if it slips or hard shifts.
It worked for me. I had to try many times and figured out that the timing has to be perfect on the second insertion, which is very difficult since you’re in an awkward position. Keep trying and you’ll get it.
Mine stays on because of the SRS Control Module. Dealer wants $500 to replace. The part only costs $70. Would i risk computer problems if i replace it myself ?
I took my car to the detailer and when I got it back the airbag light was on. The internet said that could be due to the console getting damaged by water... I have done this procedure many times now but the light will not turn off... so screwed :(
I still have that light on. I had the recall done and they did not bother to turn it off. Went to another Honda dealer to have work done and spoke to him about it. He said that should of been done during the work for the recall. He also did nothing about it. Not to thrilled any more with HONDA's Repair. Guess they do not like doing the total job when it is a recall. My 2003 Honda has almost 81,000 miles now. Had many offers if I sold it to give people calls to let them know. Because of my health problem with chemicals I cannot buy another car. Doubtful I could even get a used car. I get ill due to fragrances, smoke, the plastics they use in cars, most paints an more. I just love people who think because I am a woman I cannot get a job done. I have had to live alone many years now. An have painted my own place, do great cooking an baking, clean my 1300 ft condo bet better than 90 per cent of the people today. I wash my car, can put air in tires and fill the windshield solvent. Use to wall paper and even do it for other people. Now that I had aged and have health issues like feet problems, back problems , plus much more I cannot get down to look under the dash so my car still has the light on and likely to stay that way. So sorry we have people that just have to be plain nasty to others.
Air bags were replaced at dealership after a recall but guess what - they didn't reset the airbag light. Oh no....that'a different thing all together. Right.
Just so you all know, this only resets the light for the time being. If it comes back on. Then you need to get it scanned. This does not fix the actual problem. Only temporarily turns it off.@noseefood is correct there is a 90% chance the SRS/Airbag light my be fixed under warranty through a Honda Dealership. Seatbelts are covered for the life of the vehicle. Unless they have been tampered with.
yeah 1st time I took it to the dealer and they replaced the driver side belt buckle. Honda honors life time seat belt warranty. 2nd time I unhooked the dash/instrument console to replace a blown bulb and it triggered srs light on and used this method to reset it and hasn't come back on in 10k miles. now, will my airbag deploy in an accident?
Make sure all of your recalls are taken care of first! There was an airbag recall on these years of elements. You can find out for free at the Honda dealership. If recall has not been completed, it is free
The instructions begin at 1:30. Thanks much for this! Much appreciated.
Omg, it worked!! I had to try multiple times. For people that didn’t work, the timing has to be impeccable!! The second insertion has to be FAST!
My local Honda dealer wanted to go to my bank and withdraw whatever they wanted LOL . I did as what your video shows and it fixed the always on light. Thank you Sir.

Do you plug it back in? If not, you’re supposed to drive around without an air bag?
Tried the code reader to reset code and found out it doesn’t work for air bag... but this paper clip trick worked like a charm...thanks Ace!
Work thank you I have cuestión the has go back or disconnected??

My srs light won't come on when you start the car won't pass inspection. Any suggestions said it needs to flash on at start of car. Great video
Question do we need to reconnect yellow connector back after light went off...
Took a few tries to get the timing right but worked perfectly. Thanks!
Great video. Thank you, you save me some money, mines just came up yesterday and I was going to take it to the honda dealer.
Why this video have 👎? The video is perfect once you follow the steps. Thanks for the video great job

Thanks for the how-to!! I just turned off that annoying light that's been bugging for ages :)
Thanks for the upload! It worked fine and saved me a lot of headache

I'm overweight and it was hard to do it but I finally got it. Thanks 😊
So do I need to remove any paneling or are the wired exposed already?
Thank you! This saved me a trip to the Honda dealership....

Worked, as explained in your video, on My Honda Element 2003. Thanks!

Took a few times to manipulate in cramped quarters, but cleaned out debris that accumulated in the seat belt latches then did this procedure. Goodbye SRS light!
Worked exactly as shown on my 06’ LX
The background music is also useful for interrogation purposes.

Lee Gidley thanks for the reassurance

OH MY SWEET TATTS McGILLI-KITTY !! THANK YOU !!
I replaced the front seats with non airbag seats now the airbag light is on. I tried your method and it doesn't work. Any suggestions
Do you know how to fix odometer mine doesn’t show anything after changing bulbs and odometer sensor that is connected to transmission any help please I appreciate
It worked! I hope it stays off. Thanks for posting this video.
Did it?
You’re my hero , thanks !👍
Thank you it took me a minute about 5 or 6 times didn't want to reset at first but at the end it worked hopefully it stays off thanks again..
Did it?
It blinks twice then comes back on?
I have a 2005 Honda Element it has 120,000 miles and the transmission just went should I buy a new transmission or just rebuilt the old one

Buy a new one
The remove part I don’t like it to much 😝 !! Thank you
Did not work on mine. After I remove the paper clip for the final time the light comes back on
Tammy Tzep same here. I’m assuming there’s probably something actually wrong that’s triggering the light. Anyone have any input?
It worked for me. I had to try many times and figured out that the timing has to be perfect on the second insertion, which is very difficult since you’re in an awkward position. Keep trying and you’ll get it.
Mine just turns back on and stays on after it turns off the second time so I'm guessing there is something wrong?
Also already checked for open recalls and there are none
mine stays on and does nothing.. i had oiled (wd40) the seat belt because it was hard to take off .. that worked but my light came on.. dunno why
Wow thank you vers much ...dealer was charging me 590$ ..i did that and the light wen off
So I reset my SRS light but it came back on in two days. Not sure what to do
This worked for me!
Mine stays on because of the SRS Control Module. Dealer wants $500 to replace. The part only costs $70. Would i risk computer problems if i replace it myself ?
My dealers is saying that there is something wrong with my airbage SRS system and wants $1500 to replace it.
Thank you so much it worked
I took my car to the detailer and when I got it back the airbag light was on. The internet said that could be due to the console getting damaged by water... I have done this procedure many times now but the light will not turn off... so screwed :(
Thanks brother. Good job.
OUTSTANDING, LIGHT IS OFF THANKS
Thanks a lot.
This worked for my honda element.
It worked! Thank you!
You’re a genius!!
Saved me an arm! Thank you
Thanks! Worked perfectly.
Nice! This worked

You can try a wire. Or two wires and stick one side of each wire into each hole then just touch the other ends as prompted in my video. Good luck!
i tried a paperclip and it didn't work for me =\ maybe I'm not putting them in right
Didn't do anything for me either
Try a bigger one, the thin ones don’t work
Thank you. Save $90 🔥🔥
Worked after a few try’s
The freaking intro music video is half as long as the guide.
Thank you for posting this.
Sure, I'm glad it helped!

Many thanks!!
Wow...tanks :)
Blinked twice and came back on
I am a woman and a senior. Where the heck is the plug (yellow) so i can try this. I have a 2003 Honda Element with 65,000 miles.
under the dash. get a bright flashlight and look for a yellow connector which is plugged into a dummy housing.
under the steering wheel to the left
Make sure all of your recalls are taken care of first! There was an airbag recall on these years of elements. You can find out for free at the Honda dealership. If recall has not been completed, it is free
Problem is probably that a woman is attempting to Conquer the task

Dont work
this is a factory malfunction. honda fixes it for free
nope it doesn't!!
Extremely awkward. Thank you, though.
Please lose the stupid music.
Turned off as intro waaaaaaay long zzzzzz
Yet you took the time to comment... How sad...
I'm gone, can't wait through your "waste of time" intro. Do you think it's cool?
