8:49 dominated the most pathetic script kiddie I've ever seen (other users in the game and a quick review of the round before this found he was indeed an aimbot)
MrPaladin what he means is that good positioning can be ruined by seemingly arbitrary choices made by enemies. For instance, if you were hiding on a balcony, and a solider decides to jump to the balcony with no tangible advantage to him.
But MrP! You are not a SPY! Listen closely, many skills in TF2 transcend classes and one of those skills is Game-sense, Positioning is one part of game-sense that we want to look at today... learn it... love it... take it to any class you wish...
Its very hard to show how positioning works while I'm playing spy, but these thoughts are ALWAYS in the back of my head when playing... No matter what class you are Positioning is a key skill to learn and is a part of overall game-sense.
I was in this game and I can confirm that the Sniper was aimbotting, he started using his smg when he got called out then went scout then spy. You can only spectate teammates while you are dead due to the match making update so if the other team has a hacker you have to hope they votekick him. That being said, the votekick failed twice :/
Mr P, I just wanted to thank you. You were the RUclipsr that first got me into Team Fortress. If I could get a reply that would be awesome! Just realised how cringey that sounds.... Oops.
We have all been there. Just understand that youtubers are regular people... and we are not trying to upset anyone :) (cept the cheaters, the cheaters can bite me)
For everyone saying that dude wasn't a script kiddie here's some evidence: Go to 4:48 and slow it down to 0.25 speed and watch how he snaps the second Mr P gets near. (This could be lag, but it's unlikely)
Mr. P was so good a baiting that Pyro around the corner, one could say he is a master at baiting. But in all seriousness, Mr. P, your videos are always top notch, the editing is very smooth, and you produce original content from a decade old game, which is no small feat in itself.
I am an average tf2 player, but this video really helps!!! The captions are very helpful too, eventually I was able to predict the next caption. I know this will "help me in my future endeavors" ;). Love your videos man, they are very relaxing!
I enjoy this new "'HaST" format. I like to think im good enough now that this is just second nature (its been a few days so I dont recall what I think) at this point, but its reminiscent of how useful I thought your initial videos in this series where. when I was a noob, it really used to help me hear the what and whys of what you were thinking as you did it, but after awhile it felt as though your commentary became purely reactional (it may have just been my increasing skill talking at that point to be fair) but as someone who is going on to teach, I can see the value in this new format. it might just be what I need to get the idea to sink in for some of my trainees.
Hello again! Recently started watching your content again as I noticed you are making TF2 content again. Glad to see you back and looking forward to enjoy more of your content.
So hey, Mr. P. Now that you've given this lesson, perhaps you could give an "advanced" lesson with the spy? I liked the subtitles of "What I'm thinking of" a lot, and I'd love to see them over some spy gameplay.
The importance of movement could be very well explained through scout gameplay. During that gamplay you could also show how to properly get upset with your team for not taking out the sentry.
I like that you're not spy in this video. Not to say I'm tired of you playing Spy... Not at all! But when you play other classes in your videos, I get to see even more of how to handle various game situations. Not to mention, when you deal with spies as other classes, I get to learn about Spy as well from another angle (I'd already been using your videos as What Not To Do When Fighting Spies).
that poor oblivious engi you blew up in upper tunnel lol. idk why, but whenever I see someone ignore that first shot my instincts go straight to my shotty to blow them away instead of using the rocket and idk why.
exposure, potential, and sustainability. exposure: how likely it is that a point on the battlefield will be affected by combat. potential: how much you can do in your next inmediate action to help your team. sustainability: how long you can keep doing whatever you are doing before the enemy devises a counter to it. _positioning_ sits between exposure and potential. you want to be _not exposed_, AKA _where the enemy doesn't see you_, while being _in range to shoot your weapon_, AKA, _with great potential_ oddly enough, those concepts fit into any situation where you have a comfrontation.... gaming, sports, judicial arguments, you name it.
May I suggest color coding the subtitled terms so people can keep watching the action instead of breaking away for a moment to read. It doesn't take much to read it outright but it'd be a quality of life thing that allows someone to not have to stop the flow of the action as their focus. Edit: It'd also make noticing when the state you are in shifting be more obvious.
Mr paladin I defenetly like the idea for the video I just wish you haven't made it a how a spy thinks I feel like that should be reserved for spy gameplay and stuff specifically for spy if u had called it something different then said in the vid how it realated I personally would have preferred that. Either way great video as always.
So we got Range Height (includes standing on payload; jumping) Hold Slope Key Position (Objective) Press advantage Fall back (can include bait) 360 pit jump Obviously watch the video for examples and context but if anyone wanted to jot down the positions listed then there you go! :D
Thats some perfect example of a game sence MrP, I'm also playing exactly as you said but its more like learned instinct XD after 1400 hours of TF2 its pretty normal for me.
I tend to do this a decent bit, but do you ever get to that point in a soldier game where you start to think you've been alive for awhile, and you're due for a crit any minute now so you get a little reckless? not like "herp de derp charge in" reckless, but find that you're probably peak engaging too much or against too many enemies? looking back I notice theres been a few scenarios where I think to myself, "im gonna get a crit" when I break up an oblivious grouping and charge in.
Pyro baits Mr. Paladin into a corner: smart move.
Pyro then forgets to attack Mr. Paladin: not so smart move.
He was waiting the soldier to pass so he could get him by surprise...
That tip is priceless.
How do people not do 360 before jumping of cliffs?
Lopoi I conga into the pit.
+Snack Attack!
Same. Conga for the win.
8:49 dominated the most pathetic script kiddie I've ever seen (other users in the game and a quick review of the round before this found he was indeed an aimbot)
was it the scout?
Yep he changed to scout after being called out
Did you omit the clips that showed him hacking?
Anyar as this video was about my game play I don't have his. See other comments
MrPaladin Okay, thanks.
wherever i position myself a random enemy comes around the corner and kills me
nothing about what I did or where I was was random....
MrPaladin what he means is that good positioning can be ruined by seemingly arbitrary choices made by enemies. For instance, if you were hiding on a balcony, and a solider decides to jump to the balcony with no tangible advantage to him.
Aiden Nelson but what mr paladin means is using these advantages and falling back when necessary should counter most of the random
But MrP! You are not a SPY!
Listen closely, many skills in TF2 transcend classes and one of those skills is Game-sense, Positioning is one part of game-sense that we want to look at today... learn it... love it... take it to any class you wish...
*needs help with positioning*
*MrPaladin uploads a video on positioning*
Thanks, Pally!
MrPaladin only plays classes that start with the letter s
MrPaladin That Mr P is a spy
eric- see the card attached to this video for an older positioning video... it's very old tho...
how a solder thinks
How a soldier thinks part 1
Very nice to see non-spy content on your channel MrP! Good to see how the skills required to master one class can transcend to other classes.
Its very hard to show how positioning works while I'm playing spy, but these thoughts are ALWAYS in the back of my head when playing... No matter what class you are Positioning is a key skill to learn and is a part of overall game-sense.

welp, he has to be the worst script kiddie ever lol think I got dominate on the scrub
Mr P, I just wanted to thank you. You were the RUclipsr that first got me into Team Fortress. If I could get a reply that would be awesome!
Just realised how cringey that sounds.... Oops.
We have all been there. Just understand that youtubers are regular people... and we are not trying to upset anyone :) (cept the cheaters, the cheaters can bite me)
thx for the last tip
I am a professional highlander player now
frenchbackstabber Which one?
For everyone saying that dude wasn't a script kiddie here's some evidence: Go to 4:48 and slow it down to 0.25 speed and watch how he snaps the second Mr P gets near. (This could be lag, but it's unlikely)
Pause at 2:56.... soldier isn't happy about his death :}
hahaha dat face
Orgasmic face XD
Yeah, such a rude Soldier.
He should be happy and enjoy the brutal ending of his life instead of making faces.
"La Danse Macabre" in the outto. Excellent choice!
When Mrp play thats look easy, but when i play, 10 pyro tries to burn me XD
Mr. P was so good a baiting that Pyro around the corner, one could say he is a master at baiting. But in all seriousness, Mr. P, your videos are always top notch, the editing is very smooth, and you produce original content from a decade old game, which is no small feat in itself.

Really cool idea. I hope you include it in your future videos.
I really liked how the Heavy peeked out of the corner just to slap you and bolt for the hills XD
I enjoy this new "'HaST" format. I like to think im good enough now that this is just second nature (its been a few days so I dont recall what I think) at this point, but its reminiscent of how useful I thought your initial videos in this series where.

Anyone else think chat was correct, that eallman was hacking?
Because every shot he took hit, including SMG shots. He also was following MrP around a corner without seeing him.
He was, if you notice when he played scout how he moved. Simple, newbie movements, and each shot he flicked to the heavy.
worst, cheater... ever...
MrPaladin Pretty much yeah :/
No gamesense, just an aimbot. Hate em.
Jec even his reaction to being called out is pathetic.
Finally a how a spy thinks! I've been rewatching all the old ones
Liam Herring but then its soldier
I love how this video is over 11 minutes long, and only died twice, great job MrPaladin I am enjoying every video
Nice video MrPaladin I like how you changed things up;D
Wow, the new nav_debug 1 looks so good
Mr Paladin: positioning and survival
Me: Charge in, get a thick kill streak, die like an idiot
This... might actually be the most helpful TF2 video I have seen yet.
I'll have to actually put this mindset into practice, but dang, thanks, Mr P.
Very helpful video, thank you! You always have new and fresh insights into a class I've played for 6 years
So now we know that Mr. Paladin is fantastic at Soldier too!
Mr Paladin, can you please teach us how to blend in to the enemy's team as a spy arousing minimum suspicion?
Aha! That's what I was missing! That essential tip at the end.
Of course, it all makes sense now.
the 360 no scope!
His gameplay for any class is "PLAYING SAFE, NEVER DIE"
but at the same time "DONT BE USELESS"
Hello again! Recently started watching your content again as I noticed you are making TF2 content again. Glad to see you back and looking forward to enjoy more of your content.
this is a good way too teach people
other tf2 teachers must adopt this method
So hey, Mr. P. Now that you've given this lesson, perhaps you could give an "advanced" lesson with the spy? I liked the subtitles of "What I'm thinking of" a lot, and I'd love to see them over some spy gameplay.
Huh, I do all that without thinking about it. Kinda crazy that you can narrate your thought process while playing the game
It Will Be Cool If MrP Duel As Spy With Ambassador And Say "It's High Noon"
But You Must Stand Still
He'd get sniped lol
The importance of movement could be very well explained through scout gameplay. During that gamplay you could also show how to properly get upset with your team for not taking out the sentry.
Keep doing these types of videos pls they're rly enjoyable and informative to watch :)
I like that you're not spy in this video. Not to say I'm tired of you playing Spy... Not at all! wow mr. paladin went on a god like killstreak like it was nothing
2:55 lol that ragdoll
Mr. Paladin demonstrates the proper method of sapping a sentry as a Soldier (BLAM! BLAM! BLAM!)
In five mins Mr.P did what muselk tries to do every TryHard Tuesday
In my world. I always try
He: Tries to protect the medics
My teammates: You can die idc
Jesus!!! His TF2 runs so smooth and sweet I got diabetes half way through the vid.
I love watching you play other classes, brings some variety in and also nice whip you got there Mr. Daddy 😏
i wish you'd included something about choke points
Thanks Mr P this video really helped me. I take too many even fights and that tends to get me killed
yep, let the enemy kill themselves... whenever they are willing
Thanks for the video MrPaladin, Helped me alot today as I was killing the enemy team way easier with using the advantages of slope and height.
i learned so much by watching for videos! keep it up! im really good at spy now!
Why would anyone care about that shot when we should complain how mr paladin uses the black box conch combo
I love this series :3
I feel bad for Sniper mains. Be bad, and you’re dead weight on your team. Be good, and you’re accused of hacking or being a bot.
That's simply not true
good to see the voice over is back! :D
still not 100% but close enough
How to Soldier thinks, must be called.
Might have been worth mentioning rockets come out of the right of the crosshair making it easier to peek on that side whilst hiding your hitbox :)
Wow you came out with something really original, great job
exposure, potential, and sustainability.
exposure: how likely it is that a point on the battlefield will be affected by combat.
potential: how much you can do in your next inmediate action to help your team.
sustainability: how long you can keep doing whatever you are doing before the enemy devises a counter to it.
_positioning_ sits between exposure and potential.
you want to be _not exposed_, AKA _where the enemy doesn't see you_,
while being _in range to shoot your weapon_, AKA, _with great potential_
oddly enough, those concepts fit into any situation where you have a comfrontation.... gaming, sports, judicial arguments, you name it.
cant believe youre still making these :D thanks for that ! you made me a perfect spy :D
and idk XP maybe not just spy and other classes as well...
Tutorial makers are da real mvp's
Interesting version of Danse Macabre - sounds like an acoustic violin with electronic backing.
May I suggest color coding the subtitled terms so people can keep watching the action instead of breaking away for a moment to read.
It doesn't take much to read it outright but it'd be a quality of life thing that allows someone to not have to stop the flow of the action as their focus.

welp, pink guy uploaded all the songs in his album so I had to go through a ton a videos just to find this
im pretty sure i was sleep when you uploaded this XD
Glad your trying new things in your videos
The engie at 5:00 was dancing while he capped
I feel like your voice would have suited great for a clone trooper in Star Wars
Great video as always Mr P.
ty for the kind words
MrPaladin My pleasure :)
Great video as usual Mr.P. Thanks.
He's not particularly good as soldier, but it's his conscious thinking of positioning that grants him a pretty good killstreak.
A very helpful video. Thank you!
Mr paladin I defenetly like the idea for the video I just wish you haven't made it a how a spy thinks I feel like that should be reserved for spy gameplay and stuff specifically for spy if u had called it something different then said in the vid how it realated I personally would have preferred that. Either way great video as always.
In the next video i hope it is going to be a How MrPaladin Thinks #1
Near the end: "Why is that cart not-*BOOM*"
Thanks MrP for the video it help me alot
Great video as always Mr.P! Kinda upset you didn't defend though D;
Ahh... I can seriously get to sleep with your voice.... it's so...... smooth...
Sweet
MrPaladin is better at Soldier than Muselk
20 Killstreak without even trying
Doesn't even main soldier
I have no words
I try... I try every life... I'm just not a very fancy soldier... I get the job done...
So we got
Range
Height (includes standing on payload; jumping)
Hold
Slope
Key Position (Objective)
Press advantage
Fall back (can include bait)
360 pit jump
Obviously watch the video for examples and context but if anyone wanted to jot down the positions listed then there you go! :D
i feel like this is now how MrP thinks
dang your good
Thank you for the kind words.
Stieger_fx 1 you're*
He is at best decent at soldier
Thats some perfect example of a game sence MrP, I'm also playing exactly as you said but its more like learned instinct XD after 1400 hours of TF2 its pretty normal for me.
I always hope that I help people to learn about games without spending the time it took me to learn
I gotta wait until there's else comments than FURST
Very good concept for a video. Saved!
Great video as always. Youre the Man. Have a nice day
Mr P were you sick in this video
Best alias to date!
You used a slope as you would a real-life tank. That's called going hull-down.
Mr. P is a master baiter!
Nice vid :)
Great Video!!!
So what you’re telling me is I need to always have high ground?
That heavy is a decent player.
next ep:
How a spy thinks, how to deal with pyros and pybros
This is the first video I watched in 2019
2:56 Oh soldier
Nice Vid MrP
congrats! You are now a fucking pub master :v
