I'm very impressed, the amount of pigment and coverage is insane. The trouble is that my pension doesn't allow me to invest in the paint! So I have to make do with the cheap craft acrylic paints 😭 I've all on trying to survive financially but you never know I can always hope for a windfall then I too can enjoy Airbrushing. Thank you Bill for showing us just what to expect, I really appreciate it.👍😷👍
you will love it for your spray out stuff. I think im gonna go pick up a small model truck to highlight the graphics.. ive done a BUNCH of tape testing and layering tests. I do recomend a drop coat then a medium wet coat. It loves to stick to itself. It can skate if you lay the first coat on too heavy.
I love the new opaqueZ! Only used a lil bit but great flow and coverage. These r great for graphics base colors, and then add an effect. Or can even use these as color match sealers and eliminate the need for color matching with Autoborne Sealer. Can’t wait to see all the new artwork created with this amazing new formula!
I still gotta play with mixing the wicked paint. I do have a question about masking and taping over water base paint. Do you have to intercoat clear or can you just mask off?
@@CBGRAPHICSAirbrushArt Generally i do most taping direct to paint, unless they are pearls or such. Occasionally i may intercoat them. If my paint is being lifted with tape, then they paint will fail in the future. Thats how I see it.
Great video. I’ve been messing around with it for about a week. I’m used to urethane paints. Once I get the mixing ratios down I think it will be a great product
yeah will definitely take some tweaks from urethane But it changed my mind when Dennis told me it sprays better at like 20 psi. Lets be real if you reduce it 300 Percent.. its not gonna be nearly as good of coverage :)
@@TheAIRspace I agree. I was spraying on a small panel around 20psi and I did several passes and still didn’t get a good coverage like I do with urethane paints. I did have to reduce it a lot so that it would flow good. Once you come up with the master mixing formula you can fill us all in 😂
@@CBGRAPHICSAirbrushArt well you just watched me do NO reducer in almost all of that.. actually about 5% seemed to flow great for me. HOWEVER it is important to actually mix it and let it set a minute or two. which is not how i work with my other art. If someone were inclined to premix their paint, ahead of time i suspect they would have very little issue.
@@TheAIRspace Jake from Brushstrokez told me that same thing. Premix water base paint and I’m used to mixing that urethane and being able to spray right away. When I was spraying I didn’t let it sit. I was impatient and added more reducer
Thanks Bill, I've been researching the changes in Createx paints. Guess this means I'm gonna have to spend some $, LOL. As painting is my hobby and I don't aspire to become a millionaire artist as I give away my art to family and friends, that's a big deal. However I'm happy they continue to improve their products. Thanks again for this info on the new paints, as I stated, I've been trying to find all I can on the new products.
well.. i JUST told my wife.. i should probably paint a quick tutorial :) It is important to keep in mind., these wont have that super silky low tip dry flow i can get with transparents.. however thats nature.. the fillers help the opacity. Less fillers less coverage. All a balancing act. And believe me I started buying some products to review, and text because I know for a hobbyist spending 50 60 bucks on paints is a big deal. Not that i'm rich, but i'm able to justify any paint expense or airbrush expense within reason. And over time youtube and product links will pay me back for said videos. Or at least I hope so. I spend every dollar I make off youtube and more on testing airbrushes and paints.
that's sort of the effect i was going for.. without getting too deep into trying and make a picture out of it. Definitely different..My portraits and stuff wont be using this much,. but lots of cool art to be made with it!
YES! it will completely change up a few things for graphics.. Soo many tests yet to be run. But any color over another color capability is huge! Of course w should still practice good masking techniques. But i can certainly see this saving some mistakes easier as well. If this didnt get some heads spinning on possibilities.. well i dont know what to say :)
Wow that's impressive (and before the white wash it was looking pretty cool lol). Was wondering if you could do something with Createx Candy 2O. I have some but have only experimented with it briefly. Seems pretty vibrant but seems to get really messy. But what can someone do with it? I'd love to see what you would do
i have used the candies briefly in some quick panels on here before. I personally use candies in only a few situations, almost all of those in a graphic or automotive type graphics. The nature of candies being they will fade in time they do not make it into my daily work lineup. Its certainly a good topic.. it may have to wait until i get back next month but im writing it down on my whiteboard now!
I've tried a couple of wicked colors transparent and detail.. but not the opaque yet.. will definitely picking up some . btw what nozzle size you use for this? 0.5 mm or 0.35 mm?
I was using a .5 in this video I believe. But it also is flowing through my eclipse just fine. With that said there is a learning curve to the opaques. They flow different than the transparents. Coverage however is phenomenal. They are also designed to flow out. So not giving them any time to dry can cause issues. Many told me they didn't notice that, however I paint very fast with lots of layering.
I have had these since they came out in love them oh by the way I. did end upngetting the sp 20 . love it after seeing your review on the 35 that will be my next purchase. I thought u were going with pink floyd album at first lol
ohh and yeah was going for that pink floydish look.. i didn't want to get bogged down in making a "painting" but wanted to show a bit of the possibilities.
The guys who sold me that wicked paint must be sending me the wrong paint because in all my airbrushes that paint tip dry right away to the point I`m using them only with spary guns. Thanks for the video my guy :)
Bill, so my local hobby lobby carries wicked opaque sets in 5 color with reducer, the labels are very similar to the ones your working with. Could it be possible that they are the same ones or did the "scientifical composition " get changed up when this line came out?
@@dennisscott8641 check the product numbers.. for instance the orange should be pyrolle orange and have code 0082 as well as SAYS wicked opaque in the description. They could have it.. but its pretty new of a product. the blue would be [pthalo blue.
Only paint I had more luck is Golden Acrylic high flow, that thing is smooth as butter and has minimum tip dry even with 0.18 needle straight out of the bottle.
Hi Bill! My name is Chris. I was given a low cost airbrush / compressor a couple of weeks ago. Prior to that I've never airbrushed in my life. I'm not an artist. I've built a radio controlled airplane to fly with my grandson. So I just need solid gray coverage over white foam board. Would a Paasche H brush handle that? (about 2ft. square total area) Would my tankless compressor be able to handle the new paint or would I have to buy a stronger compressor. Finally, is this water based? Thanks very much for you help ........ and patience!
sorry such a late reply.. The Paasche will handle these fine, the compressor possibly.. 2ft squared is a lot of space. These are fairly thick, but not significanly more than other waterbased airbrush paint like are used for t shirts and such. And yes these are a waterbasedd acrylic urethane.
i strongly suggest to reduce this paint the 4021 reducer. (its new) even a very small amount of the 4021 will greatly increase flow. it is a very thick paint, it has to be to be that opaque. It also likes lower pressure versus higher pressure. it seems counterintuitive, and when i made this video i was very skeptical that it would flow. Lastly this isnt a "detail" type of paint it can be reduced for that but of course you lose some opacity.
no.. and i was literally out loud complaining about it.. i was like damnit I dont wanna click over and over adding these :) Ironically the illustration opaque IS sold in a master kit ;/ I literally have my cart loaded up right now with the colors I didnt buy :)
For firearms you should really stick to ceracoat or other bake on finishes. The Synthetic stocks can be painted with a 2k, clearcoat. But you should expect wear regardless unlike a baked on finish. The baked on finishes are extremely durable.
YOU ARE RIGHT ON POINT AS A GRAFFITI ARTIST MYSELF WHO PAINTS EVERYDAY AND WORKS DOING WORKSHOP I CAN AGREE !!!!!! GREAT VIDEO !!!!!!!!!
Awesome video! I have a few of the wicked colors, I guess I will try them out on plastic models I build! Thank you!

but not sparkley.. we can work on this!

The sp20 is FANTASTIC! I actually should have mentioned that in the max 35 video. I just dont have one here to show off.

the opaques are new.. and all paint tip dries :) These are wild coverage.. many many possibilities

Yes it is!
I tried it with a .5 needle and 25 psi and up to 45 and it will not automize without reducing.
