Quick question 🙋🏻♀️ Is there any difference meaning or nuance between those below. they dont know what we know vs they dont know we know. That all starts from they dont know we know they know we know from Friends.
I had a quarrel with my mum over my taking piano classes. She insisted on doing it, while I was against it. Both of us were tenacious in our commitments so we needed to cope with this row somehow as we lived under one roof. We had a clash of interests and a conundrum about how to iron it out. I ended up taking only one more piano class to try it out again and make sure I did not like it. We found a compromise and could get on well with each other. My piano teacher told my mum that my play had been a cacophony. It was a pragmatic decision to stop taking piano classes.
Yesterday, i went to the park and studied English. I wanted some peace and quiet to concentrate. I thought it was a pragmatic decision, as the park was close, quiet , and it was a beautiful day. I found a nice tree to sit under, and i heard the most eloquent woman speaking about poetry. The children running on the grass were ubiquitous. Suddenly, a firetruck burst into the park with a siren on. The children started crying, and dogs started barking loudly. The cacophony of noise was driving me mad. The noise was tenacious, and it was no longer peaceful or quiet. I had a conundrum. I could stay and wait for the noise to stop so i could study, or i could go back home and miss out on a beautiful day.I decided to go home and look out of my window while studying as a compromise.
Amazing lesson. Thank you very much! Homework.Story I grew up. As result I have to do a lot of decisions, and most of them are pragmatic. One of the last pragmatic decision was to get improved communication skill and become eloquent speaker. I can see many eloquent speakers on youtube, they are uniquitous for me. In general, I do not like any cacophony and wish to avoid doing kinda cacophony by my speech. I would like to have concise manner of speaking, and avoid any ambiguity. We will be tenacious in reaching my goals. Any compomises. Just get it done. End. I really enjoyed the context you shown for the word conundrum, because it is really conundrum for the chooise to be single or get married.
Thank you so much for the lesson❤. Every time i watch your lessons i feel inspiration to learn english and much enjoy of your speaking style and humour
Thank you so much James! This video gave me PBS after school vibes. I have now expanded my vocabulary by three words. Love your conversational approach to teaching.
Excellent lesson indeed! I love your down-to-earth approach to teaching. I associate the word - conundrum to its sinunym - enigma which is a word found in my own language that way it's easier to remember and use.
She was laying in a dark room, unable to sleep. One thought sat tenaciously in her head, disappearing for the time being into the subconscious cacophony of thoughts, but inevitably returning. Where does she get the money? Landlord has already told her quite eloquently, that there is no compromise any more, she must pay now or leave. If only she can speak English well enough to find some job. She couldn't image that that would be such a conundrum, even despite all her experience and hard work. Staying in her home country might more pragmatic decision, but the advertisement was so ubiquitous and appealing, so she decided to try... Finally, she comforts herself with a thought about lessons with James from Engvid. I'll manage -she thought and fell asleep.
Hi Sir, I would like draw your attention to the world pragmatic, for me meaning of it is: An adjective that refers to an approach that emphasizes practical effectiveness rather than a theoretical consideration. Thanks for you've been doing for us. It means a lot. You're simply the best.
The plane was landing as I recalled the events of the holiday. They had a tenacious grip on my mind, a constant reminder of my unfortunate experiences abroad. The plane's wheels screeched against the tarmac, and the gasps from a few passengers created a cacophony that momentarily dislodged my thoughts. The pilot announced our arrival in London with elegance. My fellow passengers, rushing in their haste, scuttled to grab their luggage from the overhead compartments. Coming back home felt like a pragmatic decision. Yet, as I joined the throng heading for the exit, a conundrum lingered in my mind: how to face the unresolved issues that awaited me back home?
Yesterday, I went to the cafe to read a book. I wanted some peace and quiet to concentrate. I thougt it was pragmatic decision, as the cafe was close, quiet and it was a beautiful day. I found a nice table to sit, and I heard the most eloquent woman speaking about building a tank. The smell of the coffee there was ubiquitous. Suddenly, a bus with full of peaope burst into the cafe. The people inside the cafe started panic. The cacophony of noise was driving me mad. The noise was tenacious, and it was no longer peaceful or quiet. I had a conundrum. I could stay and wait for the noise to stop so I could read, or I could go back home and miss out on a beautiful day. Yesterday, I decided to break wind and let people leave quickly the place as a compromise.
i made a pragmatic decision , i would go to the library to study and think more about my conundrum , when i got into the library i shocked, there was a lot of messy and cacophony ubiquitous , i am a tenacious so i went back to my room and listend to eloquent people on tedx , i see that people in the library need to learn more to compromise
It was a lovely day, and I decided to go to the library. I fell behind the rest of the class because I was ill for a while, and I was planning to catch up with all the missed material. I am tenacious when it comes to marks; I strive to be a straight-A student. It seemed to be a pragmatic decision to study in the library; therefore, I am always more productive when I am not home. I was doing the last task when two groups of children entered the library hall. I was astounded by the sudden cacophony all of a sudden. I tried not to listen to them, but it was impossible. They were ubiquitous. It started getting on my nerves, and I was contemplating whether to go home and continue there. That was my conundrum, and I decided to dash home for my own sake. I couldn't bear all the noise, and it was infuriating. When I got home, I was elated to be in a serene place again. I wrapped up the last task rapidly and turned on a popular podcast by one of the most eloquent speakers in the world.
Yep. Cacophony ins Spanish is the same meaning. Is an unpleasant sound. To me, it was a sound. Or the description of a sound. But Is a word I will understand in spanish . But never look for it in a dictionary .. Like you know. .. I couldn't exactly define it. But I knew you were talking about a sound. I guess english is more difficult if you don't have the same level in Spanish. By the way , I'm from Argentina. Buenos Airea.. I think mostly everyone has my level there. Like middle-class people who went to university, will. Or a good high school.
Compromise " that word " was a pain in the @ss to me " everyone was using it. I think Americans change the meaning of it . I couldn't understand what ppl was talking about in " fixer upper " !!!. Compromise in spanish ( and in english , last time I checked ( 10 years ago ) was like " engaged."a promise. You take a compromise to do something. But it seems Americans had shorten ideas.. after a while.. I got this.. you have to Compromise to this color or Compromise to this other color. Then.. Compromise now means . You " resigned " one of the options. Am I right.? Yes. I collins it . Hehe. Compromise is an agreement. But for some reason Americans are putting " emphasis " in that if you have an agreement, it means you give up something . So now. Compromise is like " you give up something " . I think you can compromise without giving up anything. ( not every agreement you have to give up sth. ) so the definition of the world changes. I don't know . Probably is a whole " psicological theory " about " compromise " something discussed at universities , and they started to use this word with one this meaning. Like in TV. And now the meaning changed. Do I make sense ?
I like this dark-skined teacher. He's bald, of average height and quite well-built. However, I find he wastes my time; he doesn’t give me the info direct, that is he jokes around.

Most importantly sir are these words frequently used in America?
Ubiquitous = in spanish is " omnipresence " and in english too. They are synonyms.

Every heavy metal fan should know the word „cacophony”. It is the name of the band of Marty Friedman, former guitar player of Megadeth.
I'm that kind of guy, tenacious. I never give up unless I descover that I am in a wrong direction.
I alwas try to spek but that is not possible. So how can it.plz help me

If anyone knows a similar channel where German language is delivered in the same way, I would appreciate!
Cacophony is a noice. Is actually the sign of a noice . I think. I will google it in spanish, is the same word. Cacofonia.
OK. I only have 3 words I don't know. Iupi !!!
Teslas are not ubiquitous in my country
Conundrum. You killed me with this one. Lol.. there is a similar word in spanish that means you are a spoiled kid crying.
Just three people ahead of me
😍🇧🇷🇧🇷
