- A khaki suit--or, to be more specific, a khaki cotton suit--is an absolute menswear summer essential. Honestly, as a summer suit, it's hard to beat. It's dressy. It's casual. It's sporty. It's hard to get all of those things wrapped up into one suit, but with a khaki suit you pretty much have it all. Very solid presentation. Great alternative to a seersucker suit when you want to dress up in the warmer months. The older I get the simpler I want things and a white shirt, black knit tie and black loafers with the suit would really complement those looks as well. And in the fall, when it's a little cooler, would wear it with a denim shirt.

It's Winter in Melbourne Australia and this week we are in lockdown and prevented from traveling to Sydney, Brisbane and FNQ, where a khaki suit looks right at home. I am having two linen suits made. One a very coarse white and blue looks almost washed out.

They all look great. I have a Brooks Bros Khaki cotton suit that looks very much like yours. I will try all five of your suggestions during the summer. The only change is button up black shirt instead of a polo shirt.. I don't care for a polo shirt with a suit. It's OK with a sports jacket. I just don't care for it with a suit. Personal preference.

I totally agree, cotton or linen are essential during summer time, and nicer to wear than any jacket or pants with wool (even light wool). But you don't wear any socks (or no show socks)? I prefer to wear cotton socks with a suit.

I’m big on textures with my suits...cotton doesn’t usually lend itself well to intricate weaves like wool or tweed or a silk/cashmere blend...I’ll just die of heat stroke. I like the sound of a video on khaki separates though

Hey! Didn't you wear pretty much exactly outfit 1 in your How To Be A Gentleman in 2020 podcast? You're right it does look very classic. You've tempted me to get an "ice blue" shirt, as you called it. It is such a subtle but nice color that is more unique than a simple white.

Question: What should be the right size for a khaki chino pants cuffed?
I always do a 2” cuff. 1.5” could also look okay. 1” too small.
Other way I use it’s with a black turtle neck and only for a few with a necklace but it’s more casual and my suit is of cachemir

I think you can take in the sides more of your blazers, it will fit you better and give you that well postured look. Other wise the clothes can look just straight, kind of hanging of your body, with no dimensions. IMO 👍🏼
This is also cotton, which doesn’t really drape.

What do you think of Paul Evan's loafers, have you tried any of them on before?
I must be honest and tell you that I have a very low opinion of Paul Evans. I have a few pairs of shoes of theirs--if you watch old outfit videos, you'll see me wearing their double monks a lot--however I cannot recommend the brand to you because they are dishonest and untrustworthy. I did a paid partnership with them TWO YEARS AGO for which I still have not been paid. This is not a brand that deserves anybody's money.

I've never really thought about getting a cotton suit because I've always associated them with lower quality. But considering all of the heat stroke-inducing weddings I've been to, I've been a fool to not have a cotton suit. 😂
Cotton, especially really fine cotton like the Huddersfield fabric here, isn’t low quality! Just more casual.

Regardless it was great seeing comparisons to some of your older pics, it really shows off the versatility of the suit. I must say I do like the last two looks the best though, probably because it shows off the more casual but sartorial nature of the suit and it just feels a little too hot for any neck wear right now! Lastly, I'm going to assume the rolled up jacket sleeve look will be in the follow up video? :) - Han

I love the looks, but I just don't care for a t shirt or polo shirt with a suit or blazer. It's a personal preference, and it is popular, but it looks awkward to me. If it looks awkward, then I feel awkward wearing the look. Thank you for the good ideas though
That croc belt is fantastic. Just a little bit of pimp...not too much, just a dash.
When we designed it I was worried it would come off as too much but it is the right amount of elegant without being over the top.
Is it a good idea to show skin in a business environment? Like I love the sharp look and it looks really good. I just get the feeling ppl at my job may not take me seriously if I show my ankles between my pants and loafers. It feels more like a date night or business outside the office type outfit.

@Ohillip Reynolds. While I only have a khaki cotton jacket at the moment, with the outfit in this video on my To Do List, I do have four cotton jackets on varying degrees of quality, which is in direct proportion of the price. The cheapest jacket is used as a spare in my Carry-on Travel Bag. After a few hours wear, it looks like you slept in it. The khaki jacket is a premium quality material woven in England and lasts the day wrinkle free. So the lower the price, the more wrinkles. My favourite travel jacket is unlined and unstructured high quality linen, with built in wrinkles. Phil.

All looks were good . The surprise one was last look and I loved the pocket square . Didn’t like the third look as I would rather have a off white shirt or a very light pistachio green shirt with the green tie . Please make a video on just a khaki sports coat (cotton or linen ) . Also I like to play with pocket squares and your looks look dull to me with all white pocket squares. My perspective

@SCD Observer. I used to feel like that for years, because I have a skin colour that all of my life has had Doctors think that I was anaemic and now that I have snow white hair it's worse.
But last year I bought a well made khaki sports jacket, made from a premium quality cloth and I have changed my mind, because I decided to find shirts, with bold colours, that got rid of the drab contrast with my complexion. Now after watching this video I am going to buy exactly the same outfit for Spring. Phil.

This year has necessitated a big shift in everyone's thinking, I understand, but I am a little underwhelmed that all of the style forums I currently follow on social media have basically just turned into advertising for their own brands or brand partnerships. Just makes me feel there is a shift away from objectivity. I know this is the point of having an online presence, but for me I look for you guys to give an overview of brands, quality, reliability, etc.. I wish you luck and success, but this isn't the channel I used to enjoy. sorry.
