I love this video, love everything about it... from the new format to the outfits, its absolutely excellent. Look #1: I love the classic navy suit mixed with those summery elements such as the linen tie, I also adore the more carefree pocket square fold as it makes the suit less stuffy. The shoes are something that I'd like to change, I would probably go for some Belgian shoes with such a classic look. Look #2: A very simple look, but by just changing the shoes from leather to suede leather really makes the look more summery. Well done. Look #3: If someone described this outfit to me on paper, then I'll probably hate it, but looking at it in actuality, I absolutely love it! The polo shirt with a navy suit is such a vacation combo, and the Panama hat works equally well with the outfit. The watch is a bit bold for my taste, but it works well with this outfit. As for the shoes, the horsebit loafers work very well for this particular look. Look #4: A simple and casual suit. This is definitely a good travel look. I can surely imagine wearing it to the airport myself. Look #5: Wow! Just wow! This is my absolute favourite look. The pink shirt works so utterly well with the yellow geometric pattern tie. The pocket square too pulls everything together beautifully. And finally the shoes... well, the only further enhance the summery vibe of this outfit.

I too have a To Boot pair of suede boots. They actually zip up the side. And I got mine I think at like Saks Off 5th, like you, six or seven years ago.

I live in the San Gabriel valley and I would at times drive into Beverly Hills and roam Wilshire Blvd popping into iconic retailers such as Saks and Burberry and Tiffany's and Barneys as well as the gold standard NEIMAN MARCUS. Then I would migrate the connecting streets and head down to The Polo Shop. Not to mention indulging in a great lunch! I would RETURN home with amazing treasures inside amazing bags. Another great look book Brian! This is the first look book video featuring sunglasses in all the looks I believe? Anyway I think the nature of summer just lends itself to the more casual looks, making look #4 easier to pull off for those who haven't tried it yet. Fashion, style, whatever you want to call it is always evolving, and I think to completely write off certain looks is a disservice to the industry and yourself. Sure, it might not be traditional but where do we draw the line on that? Should we go back to wearing fancy wigs? Jeans with jackets, suit sans tie, all of these looks are not traditional too but I believe these are all valid ways to express yourself, and so is the t-shirt and suit look. It goes with the "grown-up casual" vibe. I guess it would help to understand that this look is casual, and probably not for the office or formal events if anything. - Han

Blue Dreamer is on my wrist most days in the summertime. I kind of talked about what you bring up in my first video after the pandemic hit. It was tough. And my approach hasn't really shifted at all in terms of what I'm doing on the channel other than that I believe that providing inspiration and something to strive for is more important than ever.

As always great styling ideas Brian! 👌 here are my 5 cents on the t-shirt/suit look. First personally I wouldn’t do a whole suit with a t-shirt but more in a jacket trousers separates combination. Second, it need to be the right kind of t-shirt. I have seen this styling idea by so many different “menswear” people and sometimes it just work and other times it just looks a bit off. What I have figured out is this... try a “knitted” t-shirt the ones that resemble knitwear. And then fabrics like merino wool really helps making the t-shirt look more suitable for a suit. These t-shirt often also come with a elastic hem at the bottom, making them perfect for wearing untucked also 👌👍

What are your thoughts on jackets with tshirts? I always avoided the look for the sake of the suits, I find that the collar and cuff get dirty very quickly without a shirt, to the point of having to dry clean it after every couple of wears, and it's much worse in the summer. I love 'em all. My only negative comment is the suede shoes with the tie. I think a nice leather loafer in cognac would be better. Some purist would say you shouldn't loafers with a suit, but I say what the heck.
The real style I'm looking at in your videos is what you're wearing for the commentary portion. I'm waiting for the day you feel comfortable wearing a suit with a t-shirt as your "commentary" look.
Interesting. I mostly choose what I'm wearing at the desk for a few reasons, 1) to avoid moire, 2) to provide a contrast to the background, 3) to represent the season, 4) to not distract from what I'm saying.

Haha. Well, having lived in the dessert, myself--I lived in Tucson for a year--I know that one's skin does get pretty thin, pretty quickly adjusting to the heat. AND that it really is a dry heat! 113 though?! Crazy. THAT would not be a time for a suit.
It doesn't have to be a white sneaker. Could be maybe a light tan with a white sole. If it fits for you, you might also try something like a chelsea boot.
@@hespokestyle Cool Brian. After hearing so much about versatility of hopsack garments through your videos, I recently got my first pair of navy hopsack trousers from Spier & Mackay. It's really breathable and right in the feel with the heat of summer in here Korea which tends to get really hot. Looking forward to get a hopsack sport coat or even suit in the future.
Just an anecdote. I put on a light blue polo, dark blue chinos, all white/leather tennis shoes, and skipped all accessories except my watch, and when I saw my son's girlfriend, she asked, "why was I dressed up?" What 20 y/o's think of as formal is getting the way off the base definition for sure.
I generally like these outfits. However, I do find it hard to appreciate the no-socks look when wearing a tie. To have a relatively complete and formally dressed upper body with very casual loafers and no socks just looks very unbalanced to me. I'm interested to hear any other comments on this point.
@@hespokestyle Certainly the more casual the materials or the overall style the more I could appreciate the no-socks + loafers look. I think it would always look unbalanced to me though if a tie is worn. I think it works with a casual suit/jacket combined with an open-neck shirt or t-shirt.
Never. It's never okay to wear sneakers with a suit. Sorry. You can make it casual with loafers or driving shoes but no goddamn sneakers. It destroys the outfit and makes you look like you have no idea what you're doing.
The shoes are a terrible choice which ruin the entire look. They appear to be slippers. If you want a serious channel covering fashion then you can't make these mistakes.

Linen suit unless you plan to be outside all day. If you are out in the car , cafe linen suit great.

I'm also from SE QLD, I've found a super thin option from G Star Raw. A touch pricey for a tee but it works well under a blazer!

I love 'em all. My only negative comment is the suede shoes with the tie. I think a nice leather loafer in cognac would be better. Some purist would say you shouldn't loafers with a suit, but I say what the heck.

The real style I'm looking at in your videos is what you're wearing for the commentary portion. I'm waiting for the day you feel comfortable wearing a suit with a t-shirt as your "commentary" look.
Interesting. I mostly choose what I'm wearing at the desk for a few reasons, 1) to avoid moire, 2) to provide a contrast to the background, 3) to represent the season, 4) to not distract from what I'm saying.

Haha. Well, having lived in the dessert, myself--I lived in Tucson for a year--I know that one's skin does get pretty thin, pretty quickly adjusting to the heat. AND that it really is a dry heat! 113 though?! Crazy. THAT would not be a time for a suit.

It doesn't have to be a white sneaker. Could be maybe a light tan with a white sole. If it fits for you, you might also try something like a chelsea boot.

@@hespokestyle Cool Brian. After hearing so much about versatility of hopsack garments through your videos, I recently got my first pair of navy hopsack trousers from Spier & Mackay. It's really breathable and right in the feel with the heat of summer in here Korea which tends to get really hot. Looking forward to get a hopsack sport coat or even suit in the future.

Just an anecdote. I put on a light blue polo, dark blue chinos, all white/leather tennis shoes, and skipped all accessories except my watch, and when I saw my son's girlfriend, she asked, "why was I dressed up?" What 20 y/o's think of as formal is getting the way off the base definition for sure.
What do you prefer with a hopsack suit?
I generally like these outfits. However, I do find it hard to appreciate the no-socks look when wearing a tie. To have a relatively complete and formally dressed upper body with very casual loafers and no socks just looks very unbalanced to me. I'm interested to hear any other comments on this point.
If it were, say, a khaki suit or linen suit or Solaro suit, would that change your mind?
@@hespokestyle Certainly the more casual the materials or the overall style the more I could appreciate the no-socks + loafers look. I think it would always look unbalanced to me though if a tie is worn. I think it works with a casual suit/jacket combined with an open-neck shirt or t-shirt.

Never. It's never okay to wear sneakers with a suit. Sorry. You can make it casual with loafers or driving shoes but no goddamn sneakers. It destroys the outfit and makes you look like you have no idea what you're doing.
The shoes are a terrible choice which ruin the entire look. They appear to be slippers. If you want a serious channel covering fashion then you can't make these mistakes.
