    Winter tires should be mandatory, if you can't afford them, you should not be allowed to drive during winter. Take transit I don't care, if you wanna die and crash that's cool but don't put other people's lives in danger.

    Learn to drive would be the biggest you can do to handle conditions. I grew up here in Alberta living in Calgary, Edmonton and Fort McMurray. I’ve always used all weather tires (which are different than all season). I’ve only ever had winter tires on a 1994 Honda civic I drove for years. Winter tires falsify a lot of peoples driving abilities in the winter I’ve seen it many times 😂.

    if you have all wheel drive, especially if it has snow mode, all seasons or terrain are good enough. winters i feel are meant for those who might only have 2 wheels working for them ah

      Don't go any faster than 5kph on a road with a layer of half inch wet ice on it and you might save it from the ditch. I use v bar when it rains on ice.

    my winters are 7 years old with sitll a good amount of tread left. is it time to change? are alloy rims worth the upgrade from my steelies?

    • @DandyChigginz
      @DandyChigginz 2 часа назад +1

      You are past the lifespan of a tire. All tires should be changed after 6 years in service regardless of treadwear. Failure to do so can result in a blowout... look it up if you do not believe me.

      This is false due to lack of information. The general recommendation is between 6 to 10 years regardless of tire wear or kilometers. Michelin and Bridgestone America both say 10 years is the absolute maximum, with Michelin adding that tires should be inspected on a yearly basis after year 5. Neither of them say 6 years is "past the lifespan of a tire".

      the compound can become more stiff and you may lose some traction as a result but I'd rather drive with 7 year old winter tires with lots of tread left than all season tires in the winter......regarding alloy wheels for winter, I don't see the advantage, if anything its a waste of money
