  • Polkadots & Moonbeams. Music by Jimmy Van Heusen, lyrics by Johnny Burke, published in 1940. I'm trying out a gopro camera for the video recording rather than my usual iphone. The Gopro allows me to record at a constant frame rate, which the iphone doesn't do, and that allows me to more easily sync the sound which I record directly to the 4x USB.
The registers I'm using in this video are combining either flute organ or rotary organ with the accordion registers for a different effect.

Thanks, Darrell. Sometimes it works, especially when I'm relaxed and playing mostly for myself.

This accordion impression was really great !!! You master the instrument with serenity and yet with a lot of commitment and enthusiasm for the music. As I watch you play this fantastic accordion, I feel a strong regret that although I just saw the accordion as my favorite instrument, I never had the energy in my life to learn this instrument. From childhood on, I was like being bitten by this instrument. My father was a great accordionist, and from early childhood and youth I could listen to him play the accordion for hours. Even back then, in the early 1960s, he owned a very high quality accordion from HOHNER !!! To this day I cannot explain why I learned to play the accordion. Perhaps it was because of my father's strictness that I was afraid of failure. But I could have learned it later, after my studies, when I left home. But then I was very strong in my job as a graduate engineer. required in mechanical engineering. And so everything went into oblivion. But I listened to a lot of LPs and later CD's of accordion music. Today I have a very good Italian accordion, 4-course, 120 basses, and I am trying to catch up on something in my own study, just as my father began to learn the instrument at the age of 18. He had perfect pitch. But I'll be 75 by the end of the year and it's hard to learn. But it gives me a lot of pleasure to hear little success stories! And I still challenge my brain in old age so that it is not too quickly exposed to the aging process. Many greetings, Hans-Joachim Reiter!

Both of you are inspirational. I never stop learning, and have so much I want to do still that I seem to never have a dull moment. I wish I had learned music better when I was younger, specifically more of an understanding of theory, improvisation, jazz, ear training....but it certainly gives me something to do in order to fill in the gaps.

You always play with so much feeling. It’s a good job you don’t live this side of the pond or I would never get any work once word got around about how good you are every agent in the country would be fighting to get you on their books. Well done Richard, you are to our profession what Mohamed Ali was to Boxing ( The Greatest )......
