Nope, he's dead. Sorry guys, that's like the biggest spoiler of Death note. Actually, a lot of people consider this episode as the true finale of the anime.
I've stopped watching an episode or two after this. It really felt like this was the end and the episodes after are just not that good especially the "replacements".
Light has considered Rem an enemy ever since he first met her and she threatened to kill him to protect Misa. In the past Light referred to Misa as being just as dangerous to him as L, because he saw her as incompetent. And thanks to Rem, he was saddled with her. That's why his master plan had to involve Rem killing L to save Misa, taking them both out at once.
I prefer to think that when Light evilly smiled to L, he shows the whole truth about him. Light wanted to be honest with L at list for the last moment of his life and then L smiles, because he is happy to finally see the true about his only friend and finding out that L didn’t loose completely - they were equals in this war.
the first idea on death note ending was L writing his name to die some days after this event, and revealing kira's identity, then both die, that's why L asks rem if he could kill somebody with just a piece of paper and the weird talk after the rain
I always interpreted it as L knew he was boxed in. He knew he was on borrowed time and it was about to run out. He'd resigned himself to the fact that Light had him. I always thought he just figured it out but I like the idea that rem told him. They had a conversation and laid everything out and came to the conclusion that the only outcome was him dying. Rem would always protect Misa (which means protecting light) and L would never stop chasing them. Its a stalemate. Only way to break it was L dying.
Would Rem taking L's side and outing Light help Misa? No. Misa is a murderer and L would never agree to pardon her. The only thing that can save Misa now is the death of L. The only question is why Rem didn't write Light's name first. Perhaps cause she knew Misa wouldn't want that...
L knew he was going to die. That's why he was standing out in the rain and said "The bells are unusually loud today". He was talking about the funeral bells. The bells are played in most every show when someone dies. When he got weird with Light's feet he was making a final effort to make Light feel bad about killing him. It was an appeal to Light's humanity asking for Light to reconsider, or at least feel bad about it afterwards so he would understand what it means to kill. This is what we call a "pro-gamer move".

The second half of the show had a different feel to it, but is still really good, imo. Some people like the second half and some people hate it. It's best to watch this series to the end and see what you think of it. And I absolutely love the ending. Another opinion, that some others will disagree with, I'm sure. Also, please react to L's Funeral. It's a scene from the Director's Cut of Death Note that can be found on RUclips. 1:03 This actually made me laugh when Anthony said that Misa is on borrowed time, because it made think of the Death Note musical. One of the songs that Misa sings is called "Borrowed Time".
Lol what a shotgun episode... AND ITS NOT OVER YET BABY 🐣.. P.S @doscavazos... Look up L's funeral on youtube! .. They dont put it in the series but its like a 5 minute legitimate special with no spoilers guaranteed
That's L's requiem episode. The bells, the flashbacks, the Christian parallels of the last supper. The end of the first arch. It did caught you by surprise didn't it. L is not totally "dead" you'll see.
There is a deleted scene of L's funeral that was supposed to be in the beggining of the next episode. I think it's on youtube, in case you want to watch it before the next episode.
Oslaf Oirausu Ebutuoy It never was a deleted scene and never was meant to be in the next episode. L's funeral was only fucking added as an extra scene for the Death Note Relight movie and that's it!
The series should have ended with this episode. I dunno how manga did it (this is literally the only case of me watching an anime and not reading the manga it was based on), but in the first live action movie, SPOILERS: L figured out what Light was planning and wrote his name into Death Note himself; he wrote that he will die in 30 days, so when Rem later wrote him dying of heart attack right now, it didn't happen, he faked it. He only didn't anticipate Watari's death. So yeah, in the movie, he reduced his life to mere 30 days, but managed to reveal Light as Kira. But the anime instead went this way :/
Regardless of what most people say, this is not the end of the series. The rest of the episodes are really good. Yes it has a small dio for 2-3 episodes then picks up again
They don't want him to be dead so bad. When I saw this episode on cartoon network when it first aired, I knew right away L was going to die because of all the stuff he was saying the whole episode. He knew he was going to lose and he knew Light was Kira. The whole church bells, for whom the bells tolls, asking if Light has ever told the truth about anything, and flat out telling him they would be leaving each other soon. L was smart enough to know it was the final act and one of them would be dead, L even figured he'd be the one to die. It's like when a chess player resigns from a match after looking so many moves ahead and seeing they have very little chance of winning from their current position.
There is no common ground between Rem and anyone except Misa. She infact killed Watari to make sure that Misa and light are never caught. Light won. L and Watari are dead.
The moment L released Light and Misa from their cells that's the moment he lost, L never stood a chance after that because all he did was what Light wanted.
Your theory was actually the version that the Japanese live action movie go with on the adaptation.. L faked his death. If you want you may check that out. Death Note part 1 and Death Note part 2 - The last Name.
The scene where L was wiping Light's feet was a reference to Jesus washing Judas' feet aka washing away his sins.

I've been waiting to see you guys react to this episode. Some people might suggest stopping here, but please don't.
@Dos Cavazos react to L’s funeral and his monster speech at ‘wammys house’
Light killed three birds with one stone.
Have a funeral for L, you say? Well, about that ...
And here we go...
I see you're in the denial state
L: *dies*
N: My turn.
BTW, ep26 it's a review, I think.
hmm, good point... it's been a while since I watched Death Note
Tarsísio Xavier Review? No,it's a recap.
The reaction we all have on this episode 🤣
RIP L 😔
The series should have ended with this episode. I dunno how manga did it (this is literally the only case of me watching an anime and not reading the manga it was based on), but in the first live action movie,
SPOILERS:
L figured out what Light was planning and wrote his name into Death Note himself; he wrote that he will die in 30 days, so when Rem later wrote him dying of heart attack right now, it didn't happen, he faked it. He only didn't anticipate Watari's death. So yeah, in the movie, he reduced his life to mere 30 days, but managed to reveal Light as Kira.
But the anime instead went this way :/
Unfortunately L is dead guys, Rem dying afterwards should clue you in
Hey buddy stop the spoilers
Salah Sama not a spoiler when they’ve seen it, they just don’t wanna accept it
Proliflix they think Rem killed Watari which lengthened Misa’s life and that Rem didn’t kill L. Because they don’t wanna believe L is dead
@@stanleyho8009 I'm talking about the Rem situation
Salah Sama I know but Rem could’ve died just for killing Watari because that could’ve lengthened Misa’s life.
Regardless of what most people say, this is not the end of the series. The rest of the episodes are really good. Yes it has a small dio for 2-3 episodes then picks up again
Mauricio Ramirez The reason they says so is because the series was originally going to end there.
This is a move like sacrificing the queen. .
Honestly, when you start to see abrupt back story of certain mysterious character, you know they are gonna die in this episode
Best episode finally
Rem couldn't help L because it would mean killing Misa.
Misa is crazy in love with Light. How could Rem betray Missa ? She died for her.
I stopped watching a week after this episode before continuing the series.. I was devastated.
This was truly the last episode of Death Note for most of us
There is no common ground between Rem and anyone except Misa. She infact killed Watari to make sure that Misa and light are never caught. Light won. L and Watari are dead.
Been waiting..... light yagami have you ever once told the truth
The moment L released Light and Misa from their cells that's the moment he lost, L never stood a chance after that because all he did was what Light wanted.
This episode is just AAAHHHHH😭😭😭
Someone has to make sure they watch Ls funeral
Been waiting to see your reaction for this......
You should react to L's funeral deleted scene.
Kevin It was'nt a deleted scene. It was an extra scene they added just for the Death Note Relight movie.
@@commandixnostalgia2321 oh, thanks I didn't know that.👍💙
Plz continue the show don't stop it here ther is more interesting things in the next few episodes...btw u should react to L'funeral episode
Everyone get shock who watched ep 25 of death note it is a masterpiece
I was not ready to watch this episode again 😢
Your theory was actually the version that the Japanese live action movie go with on the adaptation.. L faked his death. If you want you may check that out. Death Note part 1 and Death Note part 2 - The last Name.
And then in this episode so much Kira/L fan fiction was inspired
Oh how I've been waiting for this episode... But keep watching please its still good
Nice joke
Very funny, you should be a comedian
True!
Lol no L no DN
luv'd the reaction, thx for upload
Please watch Ls funeral scene before watching 26-37
