A short while after buying this camera, I decided to sell my Canon 760D and all the lenses. The Lumix does everything I need a camera to do and the beauty is, you only carry one item with you - your Lumix!
Hi Matt, I bought this camera and made a RUclips video named colourful story of Ranthambore tiger reserve. All the pictures were captured on jpeg and unedited in any Photoshop software. I am extremely satisfied with this camera especially giving me wide angle and zoom reach instantaneously enabling me to capture the entire forest lives. Thanx Matt your review on FZ 1000 was fantastic.
One of the best reviews of the FZ I have seen. You are right on the money with correct information about this camera. A lot of reviewers play their favorite camera against this bridge camera. You are honest sticking with what you are reviewing without discrimination. You get what you pay for. I purchased one and I am happy with it except for the low light blacks. I just subscribed. Please feel free to do the same.
I was very impressed with your review on the fz1000. You were very in depth and easy to understand. I realize this is no longer a new camera but am curious if it would be a good choice for an entry level camera for real estate. Recently retired and am ready to get back to work.😉 My plan is to do both aerial and feet on the ground. Thank you for your review and have a great day.
In short, after I bought the lumix fz1000, I sold both my nikon d7000 and canon sx50hs. I will not go back to dslr, nor to point and shoot, ever, never ever
Malcolm Harris, I have fz1000 too. If you going to buy it, you must tu have recorder(!). Outside sound recorder. If you need do video. Coz sound of build-in one is terrible(noice). Good luck)
I really like the features of this camera! I'm currently on a D3300, but looking to make the switch for 4K. However, I don't need the Zoom to be honest, I'm happy with the 18-55 kit lens for example. What sort of product category or camera range should I be looking for? Thank you!
I really love your delivery and quality of video. However that table mic smack dead in the center of the shot was very distracting. Love the info though. Thanks.
I want to buy a Panasonic bridge camera and I want to make a choice between the FZ300 or the FZ1000 or the FZ1000 mark2. I mainly want to use it for macro and sometimes for landscape and birds. Is there a big difference in photo quality in normal light? What does the crop factor of 2.7 mean for the Fz1000 mark2? Which one can give you a nice blurry background in macro?
Hey Matt, can you see any differences in the video between this and the LX100? Does the larger sensor and faster lens make a difference in say a controlled environment where you can shoot at the same ISO?
Rediscover Film Yes, besides being able to get a shallower depth of field from the LX100, I would also say the LX100 has a better, more detailed image than the FZ100. That said, the FZ1000 is decent.
Thanks for the info. I just got the fz1000 hope I made a good choice. Need the 4k and like the zoom. I too looked at the sony ax33 any thought on that model.
What camera do you recommand for a semi-professional videocamera: The Panasonic FZ1000 or the Nikon D5300? Or is there a better alternative in the same priceclass.
Hi! Thanks for your helpful review. In have some questions to you...Is it true that the external mic in fx1000 doesnt work during the 4k filming? I want to buy one of these camera's. Which one is better do you think? For me are zoom and smooth video very important. 1- Lumix fz1000 2- Canon 750d 3- Nikon D5300
The reason I got the FZ1000 is to shoot 240 FPS in video. The directions on how I do that is on the CD which is pc compatible. I have a mac book. Any guidance how to reach that setting would be welcome!
possumpopper89 I don't think it does 240fps. Panasonic were talking about adding it in, but when the camera was released, the 240fps was dropped. The highest it can go is 100fps/120fps (PAL/NTSC)
I currently use a NIKON D3300 and you can change the strength of the flash on that right down to 1/32 are you able to do that on the FZ1000. If so where do I find it in the menu etc. I know you can change to red eye reduction etc. But wondered if you can change the strength as well. As I do find that a really handy feature on the D3300.
Hi, really enjoyed your video. Unfortunately, I was a little lost with the technical jargon. What I want to know, is do you think this camera would sufficient for taking pics of my son playing basketball in a gym? I wouldn't be too far away. like the third row of a high school gym.
+mtbdds I think the Panasonic FZ1000 would struggle with the indoor lighting of most gyms. I guess it depends on how well lit the gym in question is, but in general, I would say no, it's not going to do well indoors in a gym. You'd be better off with a camera with better high ISO ability like the Panasonic G7 amzn.to/1Nf1sIo , Canon T6i amzn.to/1kVPXuR , or the Nikon D5500 amzn.to/1kVPWY0

alphaphotoandvideo No problem... you have a good camera . You can get good pictures with that camera .... keep it . It only struggles with low light ,but that's why they make flash
Motion panning in the video sucks, even with a tripod. Most of my images in Yellowstone this fall, panning wildlife, were unusable. Seems to me that Panasonic could have done a better job with the stabilizer. I have two Panasonic camcorders and their stabilizers are fine.
I UNDERSTAND - - NO HEADPHONE JACK. DARN I LOVE THE CAMERA. CAN YOU RECOMMEND ONE WITH A HEAD JACK AND A MIC JACK ? THANKS - - I LOVE YOUR VIDS NO KIDDING
Francisco Gonzalez The LX100 has the better lens and is smaller. If the limitations of the lens on the FZ1000 (or advantages if you need reach) are ok with you, then either one will do. I'd give the nod to the LX100 for video quality.
I will rather go with the Sony RX10 II, cause of lot of better features: Beautiful XAVC-S codec, (beside it has all the other codec that the FZ1000 does), mic and headphone jack input, Carl Zeiss 24-200mm f/2.8, S-Log2 Gamma, 1" Exmor RS BSI CMOS Sensor, Hi-Speed recording and so on....
Tecnovlog The FZ1000 its not a BSI sensor, the IS doesn't work in 4K, had problem locking in AF, hunting and locking, its noisy when zooming in and out which will go into your audio recorded, it gets darker at 16X not a constant aperture... and the cons goes on, thats the reason I returned it.... the same thing is happening with the FZ200, its the same cheap 1/2.3” non BSI sensor with the same noisy result, they just ad 4K on a tiny sensor and want to make BIG cash outta this camera....
One correction though, the FZ1000 has a 1" sensor, it's little brothers have the 1/2.3" sensor. And now that I read again, I think I misread it, right :D
I returned a RX10 III because it was lacking for the money. The sensor is the same. The fz1000 is sharper in low light. The fz1000 zoom can get you to 1140mm with no degradation. The fz1000 is intuitive and never gets left home.
@@rainerlisting I bought the m50 with the 15-45. Still considering the fz1000. 2 cameras are easier to handle in real life than swapping lenses on just the 1. I currently use a t5 with a 75 to 300 but it doesn't have any auto focus hence the need for another b camera
+ArtoftheImage To my knowledge, the stabilization can or should be adjusted from 5 axis stabilization to up-down stabilization for stable motion panning.

+chris hull Even the GH4 crops the sensor for 4K video. Other reviews state that video from the GH4 matches up well with the FZ1000, and how much will you pay to get the equivalent lens to go against this fixed lens. It's an all round great tool, economical because it's all-in-one, and convenient; good stills and great video for under $1000, in fact I paid $540 US Dollars for a brand new one on Ebay. I sold my D7100 and lenses, and got a nice stereo shotgun mic, Variable ND filter, 62mm btw, and a couple of extra batteries. I'm now shopping for a flash that will work wirelessly with the camera, probably the Nissin i40, which I had for Nikon, and it was outstanding. Some people focus on what this camera doesn't have, I focus on what it does have, and how well it suits my needs; nature/wildlife and the grandchildren, what else is there? Great camera for ice hockey in the rinks btw, using 4K or 1080p, either one. I tried them both, and the still frames I was able to get are great. The price has really dropped and deals are available if you shop around; I saw some refurbished ones on Ebay for great prices, full warranty.
400mm at F/4...I don't think so. Try 400mm at (f/4 times 2.7 crop factor) so FAR less light and thus lower shutter/higher ISO = crap. A 400mm F/4 is a HUGE lens. (400mm F/5.6 is a larger lens). If one is multiplying to give the "effective" field of view (vs angle of view) one has to also adjust the light gathering or "F-factor". Tony taught us that.....remember...?
