The focus here should not be the one handed backhand, 😊 the forehand "hook shot"is what wins the point. As a tennis coach, advanced players are trained to develop this specialized forehand to create a curved ball travel pattern for angle control while on a "dead run." 😊

It was a flat backhand, not sliced, hence why his opponent stuggled a bit to return it well enough, which set Nadal up for the forehand winner down the line.

Ah, that's his usual running slice. He just adjusted for the lower bounce on grass.
His opponent did not really anticipate Nadal's shot and instead of playing on his forehand, which completely opened the court for the winner, he should have persevered with the backhand and try to wrong foot him.
